I lived in Ft. Walton Beach when this tornado hit and it was awful. I was only in the second grade but it tore Ft. Walton up. It was strange because one building would be destroyed and buildings next to it looked like they hadn't been touched. I also remember seeing a small Volkswagen Beetle in a tree. We lived on base at Eglin and fortunately it didn't affect my neighborhood.

I don't remember this. I'm sure it made news in all of NW Florida. I guess I didn't follow the news much in the 10th grade.

    Hello.
I just started a UA-cam channel and I was wondering if you would mind me using your video(this video).
I have a few niches including History.
I really like your video. I remember when I was little we had moved to Ft. Walton Beach. We left in about two weeks and went back to GA. I heard about this storm...how devastating it was. My mom thought it was strange. We moved there...Dad couldn't find work, so we moved back to GA. Then shortly after we moved Ft. Walton was destroyed by a Tornado....Kind of creepy....but also very interesting

We lived across from Gatlin Lumber on Maples st. Daddy was watching at the front door and screamed for us to get in the bathtub. It skipped up our street almost every other house. One house was demolished but a single table with a vase of flowers in the middle was left standing. My street was the one with the VW bug on top of a palm tree. It was near Christmas time and Christmas trees and presents were scattered all over the neighborhood. I was 7 but remember walking the neighborhood with Daddy to check on people. A few gators were sitting at the back of our house after being flushed out of the swamp area behind us [that is now Industrial st]. ...This is June Jay by the way. I don't know where that posting name came from.
