I swapped a skid on 2012 jk without touching any fuel lines. Start with low gas to minimize weight, loosen bolts and fish 2 racket straps between the tank and the skid to hold up the plastic tank. Connect the straps to the frame- you'll find spots to secure...and then just swap ot out or depending how bad just grind and repaint the existing skid. Not sure why anyone woukd want to mount an aftermarket skid plate on top of an existing structurally sound skid plate. The OEM plate is beefy enough to protect the gas tank within itsself.
