I have owned and Used these FX80's for just under a year now and I love them. They blow the KRK monitors out of the water and Several other pairs that I have worked on. Monitors, like your room. Take time to get to know.
Its good to see that all youtube channels talking about gear are not only "tech gigolos" paid or sponsored by companies. Fair play to you guys, really enjoying your honest reviews.
@@PresentDayProduction It comes across like this very clearly, well done guys, keep at it your channel is gonna blow sooner or later, the youtube plate is comin no doubt :)
Thank you for having an objective, honest and strictly scientific opinion about everything! By the way, can you do a review of the Swissonic V8 studio monitors! They are the cheapest 8" monitors with Air Motion Transformer and i'm sure a lot of people will be happy to see this review. Thank you!
As someone battling with a space deficit I could see why someone might go for them instead of the offerings from Kali, Adam, Yamaha etc. Another great review as always!!!
Coax seems to be one of those ideas that's good in theory but causes more problems than it solves. Sort of like the Wankel rotary engine of speakers - nice in an RX7 but you wouldn't stick one in a Mazda 2.
Great test guys. For me the biggest advantage of a coax design is, that I theoretically can sit quite close to such speakers with all the membranes aligned with my ears (for example to minimize the influence of an untreated room). If this is not possible with this speakers they missed their purpose for me. It would be interesting, how higher priced speakers like C5 or C8 from KS Digital or the even more expensive coaxial monitors from Genelec perform in this matter. So if you could get your hands on those, that would be great.
You can get those for around 440€ a pair here in Germany, which is at least 120€ cheaper than the LP8. It's not the world, but maybe important to some. I really like your reviews! The Kali were hyped by so many channels and I always find it difficult to believe, when things appear almost to good to be true. There's this tiny lil annoying guy in the back of my skull telling me, that many got them for free and maybe, just maybe, they wanna get the next product for free as well, or the video is presented by XYZ, meaning sponsored by XYZ? I'm not saying, that the Kali aren't good, I picked those just as an example after all. You find the same behaviour with plugins, interfaces, gear in general, etc. When it comes to your channel, I never had the impression, that any review was a favour, nor a rant to create clickbait. Thank you for that!
Everytime I hear a fluid audio representative they never say anything useful. Like it's obnoxiously over the top and very noticeable. All of their promotional material is so sensational and not quantitative. This is a big red flag. I'm really glad that you took the time though to review these.
If you can improve the monitors’ sound, by placing a smaller speaker inside a bigger one... how about fitting some Neumann KH 310s inside your ATC cabinets..? Now... see that reddish-purple colour which Mark’s face has gone? That’s the shade I want for my custom heavy-metal guitar respray.
Love your speaker reviews! Would love for you guys to review the KS digital C line speakers (c5, c8, c88). They seem to be great speakers for their price and there aren't any decent reviews online atm (even though quite some people are searching for it if you see the views).
I can't afford any of the monitors you boys review nevertheless I love the effort you put into your work. Flop Cat checking out the frequencies, yet another master stroke.
I disagree. I have mixed numerous tracks on the 80s and have had none of the issues mentioned here. Mixes have translated amazingly well and match on earbud checks incredibly.
how would you describe the overall "silence" of these speakers when they are turned on? i found many reviews online, stating that fx80s are extremely loud when it comes to their "internal hiss". is that true?
Here are some more Coaxial speakers you should check, from low to high end. Presonus Sceptre S8, KS-Digital C8-Reference and the glorious 3 way coaxial ME Geithain RL 901 K
I have a pair of these, and the Equator D5's And while the D5's are no longer in production (*sad DSP noises*), I thought the Equators were more reliable in translating mix to other systems than the Fluid. One Fluid speaker died by way of failed power supply eventually, and so I found another pair of Equators on Reverb.
@@tradehut2782 Hard to tell. The FX80 I did not like enough to keep around. The D5's were at one point one of the best for the $ but they suffer from DSP hiss. I still very much like them for reliability of mix translation to other systems.
Since I need the low end for my music genre, I am now actually trying to find a good combination of budget monitors with slightly smaller drivers and an additional subwoofer in combination. Getting 2 Adam T5Vs and the matching T10S Sub is not that much more expensive as 2 Kali LP8s 2nd Wave. Another possible combination would be 2x Presonus Eris E8XT and the Presonus Sub8 or the Temblor T10 to stick to the same price range. It is so difficult for me to make a decision between all these options :/ What is good enough...
Thanks Jem! Although there was probably a way to make it look nicer, the coloured rings per driver made it easiest to understand! And yes, it does resemble a certain game… next episode, how to recreate your favourite games with a cat
a review without any measurements it's basically useless and comes down to "I like it" or not, but I don't expect more from guys who created flawed monitors by themselves, by randomly putting expensive drivers in a box hoping it would sound good
The hundreds of speakers we’ve sold to 28 countries in the last 12 months alone would beg to differ 😂 and a LOT more went into it than just shoving drivers into a box - if you think that’s everything, than you’re very misinformed and need to learn more about speakers
The first album we mixed on these won a Josie Award last year in Nashville for Best Folk/Americana album.

There is now a V2 revision, it would be interesting if they have fixed any of its defects.

Love the Flop Cat 3d model! Oh and the tech stuff as well!

Loved the review guys, it’s jus hard to beat them damn Tannoys DMT 10’s man! Do a shootout, new vs. old.
Thinking of concentric budget monitors, I was wondering what you guys think of the new Chinese/Music Tribe Tannoy Gold monitors?
Really love your reviews! Would love to see what your thoughts on the Kali IN-8s are!

Brilliant review as ever, can we hear a comparison between those 3 ? That would be cool :)
Interesting and excellent. Also, doesn't Flopcat strip the skin of your head when washing it? Is that how you lost your hair? 😉
great videos! I like the explanations of these products, very informative. What are your thoughts on eve audio monitors? Thanks very much!
Cheers! :) we haven’t heard EVE’s yet but I’m trying to get my hands on them!
4:38 --- hmmmm the odd tweeter "flange" design affecting stereo imaging and perceived depth.....

If that center driver was a blue horn with foam around the edges, I would be back in the 80s in a TEF room, mixing on a football field sized desk.

Love these video's 👌Really curious what you guys would think about the ''iLoud MTM'' from IK Multimedia.
The tannoy gold look interesting and very affordable!
Would love you to A/B these with the Kali IN-8's.

D5 vs fx80 which has more details?

can you review the kali in8 2nd edition ?
ua-cam.com/video/ytbdKzjCj1k/v-deo.html
I would really love a video about bob the ghost
Hey guys! Lots of people are trying to build 3 way monitors! Can you talk about best options for speakers avalible to try it? Cheers ❤️🙏🏻👊🏻
Why you guys are not reviewing Yamaha hs8?
Because Yamaha haven’t sent us a pair. It’s expensive to keep buying things for review

Great graphics guys, with all those coloured rings makes me think that Floppy the Studiocat could make reasonably plagiarised video game.
Thanks Jem!

And yes, it does resemble a certain game… next episode, how to recreate your favourite games with a cat
@@PresentDayProduction I honestly thought the graphics worked fine, I was thinking more along the lines of Flopsonic the Studio Hedgecat
I’m currently training FlopCat to run at supersonic speeds, so be prepared for a video on that
Big up man like Kenneth
Can u try focal alpha 65 evo or adam a7x? That will be interasting for people who wan to buy mid price budget speakers.
Focal don’t reply to my emails - if I can get them, then yes!
Tannoy Golds have a similar design
Maybe Kef solution for coax is better. Why not testing it?
Yes, the Fluid audio board seems interesting. Give us good news
kef is not a studio monitor
the amount of flop in this video is glorious
Did Fluid audio steal your logo?
Looks like they want a fruit salad :)
