Nandi Bushell is thirteen years old,. Her Dad, John(seated shotgun in the car and on the couch in the background) is British and her her Mom( Lungile) is Zulu African. She resides in Ipswich, UK. She is a drumming prodigy who's become a multi instrumentalist. She plays the piano, guitar, bass, saxophone and of course, drums. She's performed with the Foo Fighters in The Forum in California and again in Wembley Stadium
She played with the Foo Fighters twice, at the LA Forum in '21 and at the Taylor Hawkins Tribute. You guys should check these out.

The journey of Dave Grohl being made aware of Nandi and her drumming years before this video are really great and it was fun to organically see it begin as a playful drum battle to her performing with them multiple times including as one of the drummers in Wembley paying tribute to Shane Hawkins after his passing.
Their Drum Battle is fun to watch. And the Taylor Hawkins concert where all the drummers ( including Nandi) take songs and sit in with the Band is touching.
My wife and i have been watching Nandi for 3 years plus now and to watch your faces throughout the whole video is exactly the way we always feel, shes just amazing, great reaction

Great reaction to a great little drummer. I first heard of her when she challenged Dave Grohl to a drum off and it was brilliant. She has her own YT channel and is well worth a checkout. As for accents, my wife lived in SA for quite a few years growing up but has lost her accent and my grandaughters BF is from Zimbabwe and his family had to move and came over to England a few years back, but he still has quite a strong twang. Even though I have a brummie accent like Ozzy Osbourne ( he grew up 10 minutes away from me) I would pick up the SA or Zimbarbwean accent in a week. I love the sound of it.

I was in high school when this was released. I loved Twisted Sister and the rest of our hair bands! To put time into perspective, this 80s kid has 7 grandchildren - the oldest is 10 years old.

Man this brought back memories, 'we're not gonna take it' was the first song I ever learned to play on drums 41 years ago or so at 8-9 years old, I still love that song, also 'I wanna rock' which was the second song I learned to play.

For an older guy's view on how to hold drum sticks, see the 2 min. video "Buddy Rich on why he doesn't use match grip". Neil Peart has one too. For another modern drummer see the video "The Aristocrats - Blues F*ckers Drum Solo" (15:48), supposedly a parody of blues songs written by drummer Marco Minnemann. It is actually the whole song, with humorous elements due to Guthrie Govan's satirical fretless guitar playing. Actually he uses a matched grip, but picked up some of Buddy Rich's stick tricks.
I'd love to see you two react to the "Chad Smith Hears 30 Seconds To Mars For The First Time" video from that Drumeo series. Most drummers on there listen through the track several times, make notes, decide what they're going to play, etc. and THEN do a couple of takes. Chad - living up to his name - handles the challenge a lot more like Ash's mate, Bernie, and shows what a drummer with 40+ years of arena level drumming experience and metric F-tons of session work can do. It's UNREAL. Plus he just seems like the coolest guy ever.
Also, outside of Drumeo, you might enjoy seeing the videos from when 9 year old Nandi challenged Dave Grohl to a drum-off and he accepted. The first round of back-and-forth videos is just them drumming at each other (she does the Foo Fighters song, "Everlong," and he does a song from his band with Josh Homme, Them Crooked Vultures) and those vids are cool and all but the second round is Dave and Nandi writing and playing songs they wrote about each other. Those second-round videos are super fun and I think you'd have a good time with them.
