Genius idea sweet friend. I actually like this way better than the fold it over. These are so stinking cute. Enjoy your day. Have a blessed safe crafty Memorial Day!! 🤗🐞🤗
I just came across this video and I am glad I did, I was wondering the same thing, I have made several journals but only one Little Golden Book journal, and that was awhile ago. Thanks for sharing. I am a big fan of your channel!
Very helpful, Gayle! I've not seen you do it this way before, and I've seen before I actually sewed in the signatures of the LGB I'm doing for my son. :) Whoohoo! I have to go to the craft room and see which way suits best the book I'm using. Nice to have an option.
I saw this and looked at my husband and said "OOOooo should I not watch so I am surprised when it gets here"? He said "Well hun, you know you will not be able to NOT watch it so just watch it"! LOL. I really love this way of doing the LGB pages, especially since some signatures have so few pages in some LGB's. I think I will do mine this way from now on. Looks fantastic! Paper is gorgeous!
What a great tip! I haven't made a journal using the little golden books but hopefully there is one in the near future. I enjoy your videos, thank you for sharing
I was glad to see how you did this. I know I have several of these books in my garage and someday soon, I am going to go on a scavenger hunt for them. Can’t wait to see what I have. Someone also gave me a doll clothes pattern book that I think would make neat pages in a book. Maybe I will have something to share some day with you. You are so inspiring to watch and learn from. Merry Christmas!
I love this tutorial. I have not yet made a journal with a LGB but I've been collecting them from thrift stores and yard sales...lol... This video really motivates me to get one started😁
Thank you so much Gayle, you totally answered my questions and gave me another idea of what to do with the flap. I just love learning new things over again. Lol
I realize this is an older post but you can remove the "gold" or "Silver" spine lining by using your heat gun and melting the old glue off. I tried it today and it really works. I think they are an important part of the little books.
I watched the previous demo on this and used it. Really like the method! It works really well!Thank you! A thought- there seems to be a lot of white on the outside edge of the pages. Couldn't you cut a bit off on that side and make the fold smaller? Then you wouldn't lose as much of the picture on the page.
Hi Gayle. I know this is an old video but I am wondering if you can use the little Disney books from the dollar tree and sell them . thank you love your channel
I need some guidance if you can help. I’ve added pages to fit the book because I cut the flappy part off so when I fit the pages I’m struggling to put the pages in order and for them to be in align to be fitted to be fitted properly to be sewn. I hope I explained that right so you understand. Can you help at all. I would love to be able to do journals like yours they are gorgeous ! Thank you for your time.
It’s Art Glitter Glue. It’s available on my website (listed in the description box under my videos) under Gayle’s Favorite Things at gayleagostinelli.com/gayles-favorite-things/. ❤️
Maria, it’s an old paper pad from K and Co. Another subbie said it was discontinued. And the glue is Art Glitter Glue. I got it on Etsy. If you search it, there are several sellers that sell it. ❤️
Oh..I fell in love with the beautiful paper by K & Comapny. Unfortunately I can not get it in Germany. I can not buy most of the beautiful papers here. Orders from the United States are far too expensive with the high postage costs.🙁
Hi Gayle! I find it so much easier to remove the staples from the binding, take the book apart and use the pages whole without any folding or cutting... have you tried it this way? It lessens the amount of steps involved in making the journal...❤️❤️❤️
Joan, I’m not sure I’m understanding what you’re saying. I did remove the staples and take the book apart. But cutting the book cover to make a front and back and expand the spine requires adjusting the pages so they don’t stick out. Let me know what I’m missing. ❤️
Joan, I have altered my first 2 Little Golden Books and I have not folded my story pages and kept them the way they came out of the book. I followed a tutorial by Grammies Keepsakes. Don’t get me wrong, I love Gayle’s work, I just didn’t want to fold my story pages. Thanks for sharing.
Gayle Agostinelli Hi Gayle! I never cut the cover, my cover remains whole. I followed a tutorial by Paula Foerder, I believe, and one by GrammiesKeepsakes. Both of these tutorials keep the book covers whole so that when you add the new spine, the book is long enough/wide enough to keep the pages “whole”....I stitch the pages into the spine(along with the pages I add) and everything is the right size...I know that my explanation is probably not clear but perhaps if you look at these other ladies channels, it might make more sense....I am NOT good at explaining...I love watching your tutorials! You are always so cheerful and informative, I started making journals and have finally gotten brave enough to open my own etsy shop...I bought a childrens book from you! You remarked that you liked my name in your little note to me! Keep those videos coming... and don’t mind the noises your hubby makes, my hubby ALWAYS has to have a conversation with me every time we are sharing office space....cannot fault him though because just like your hubster, MINE COOKS TOO! Gotta love ‘em.... Happy Holidays! ❤️❤️❤️
Marieville55 Hi! I have made three LGB journals now too....and, I followed the exact same tutorial from GrammiesKeepsakes! In addition, look for Paula Foerder; she has a tutorial on how to strengthen the “bendy” parts of the cover....Thanks for sharing! I just opened my own Etsy shop and have two of my LGB journals for sale...I used “Grammies” technique.....and my ephemera and page ideas come from all the UA-camrs I love...Gayle, Diane H., Grammie, RenewedandCrafted4U, Tracie Fox, Wendy’s Journals....Happy Holidays! ❤️❤️❤️
Thanks for all the good info, ladies! I’ll check them out. Isn’t it so cool how we all have our own ways to do the same thing? I love that about junk journaling! You could give ten people the exact same supplies and all ten journals would turn out differently! Thanks again! ❤️
Hi Gayle, I have a couple of Snow White LGBs. One has a good clean cover and pages and the other one the cover is shot but the pages are good. Do you have any thoughts on how I can combine the two? Maybe use graphics of book #2 for tags, tuck spots, envelopes etc?. Thanks! XX, D.
Diane, yes! That’s exactly what I would have said is that you could use the pages from the ruined cover for ephemera. Another thought might be to create a different cover for them and proceed as you normally would. You could use a heavy chipboard, cover it with fun paper or fabric or any other method of cover making. You would just need to make the cover the right size to fit the pages. I bet your creative must will get you going on this one!! Hugs to you! ❤️
Hi Gayle, Thanks so much for this video! I have a hard time thinking about taking apart an LGB. I do have some so I will try one after the new year! What is the paper pad you are using? It is beautiful!
Jacqueline, the paper is an old paper pad from K and Co. Another subbie said it’s discontinued. A suggestion....check your local thrift store for LGB and pick up one there to alter. They are super cheap and one step away from the garbage, so maybe it’ll be easier for you to make a journal from it! ❤️
Gayle, I've been pretty well living with my 92 year old mother in the hospital for 2 weeks (she broke her hip) ...did you explain about that cool nib on your glue bottle? It looks WONDERFUL! What is it? Where did you get it? love, Catherine
Catherine, it is Art Glitter Glue. If you search on ETsy, lots of sellers sell it. The metal tip screws on after you take the cap off. Then you put a stainless steel pin in the hole to keep it from drying out. ❤️
Joy, number the pages in pencil before you take it apart. Then once you’ve compiled your signatures, you can erase them. That’s what I did at first. Now I don’t have to, but that’s due to lots of practice! ❤️
Hi Gail. I have a question for you. The Golden books have two signatures when you take them apart. When making your book are you using three signatures? I'm keeping the pages in order. Just wondering. Love your videos! Oh and how many pages are you putting in per signature? Happy New Year
Oh gosh, Karen, having to go back into the memory banks for this one. It’s been a couple years since I’ve made a little golden book journal. I believe I did three signatures, ten papers in each and I left the middle signature with no story pages. Just put them in the first and last signature. Hope that helps! ❤️
@@gayleagostinelli_ct thanks Gail. Love your videos and I've learned so much. Just now making my first Golden Book. Stumbled across you on my search of junk journals. So glad I did you are wonderful! Thanks
Gayle do you ever alternate folding the little piece (creating the new page) from the back to the front so that you have new pages on both sides of the middle?

I am so glad u made another LGB video. I think this is the best way to do them. Does it matter how wide the spine is? Thank u
