I do respect the majority of the casting choices. But after how the fans quintessentially crapped on Eric Stitt, it is probably best to not let him reprise the role (and his voice was based on the scrapped redesign) and Grant Kirkhope? He probably sounds like a good fit, but means he voiced DK in the early days doesn’t mean he will voice another character, unless he is also a VA along with his job as a Composer. What happened to you, Klonoa?! Why do you sound like Sonic?! Also, That ending for me was the DARKEST plot twist EVER!! It looked like he was getting sucked into a black hole that formed in the sky all of a sudden!! And when Hewpoe said that wind village isn't the world of his reality, I got so surprised!
I know that they chose the VA based on the look, but if Klonoa is supposed to be 9 during door to phantomile, man did he hit puberty at a very young age
1:01:12 Hewpoe: Klonoa.....the time is come for you to go back. Back to your Phantomile. Klonoa: No way. Hewpoe: Goodbye, Klonoa. Klonoa: But I don't wanna go. Hewpoe: Goodbye! Klonoa: I DON'T WANNA GO! Hewpoe: I SAID GOODBYE! Klonoa: NO!
There's a lot of reasons for that, one reason is that the voice actor auditioned without knowledge of the series with the exception of a picture of the scrapped Klonoa character design change. And another thing, it's possible that he recognised the art style and went in that direction, honestly his delivery is really good even though certain lines like Wahoo fall flat the rest isn't bad. So he likely went in that direction because after Door to Phantomile Klonoa does look like a Sonic character, I can't blame him at all. He'd do a good Sonic though.
@@filipeflowerDid you miss the part where it said he had no guide outside of a single picture of Klonoa? It wasn't his fault, it was the creators at Namco
It's just...not the same. I could probably get past Klonoa sounding like Sonic (MAYBE), but I really like hearing him speak his language. It helps with the emersion and sell the dream world aspect. Although, one voice change I can get behind is Hupow's. The original is way too squeaky for my tastes.
I just beat this game a few hours ago and it hqs the most messed up ending I have ever seen in a kids game. also, hewpow to me reminds me of classic mega man lol and really a death of an innocent character in a kids game? dam lol
@@ridz377 but unless you played the sequel, you wouldn't know that. And sadly, the sequel didn't get remade. So Wii kids would never know what happened to Klonoa unless they looked it up online.
Why does Huepow- *cough* sorry, I mean "Hewpoe" do all the talking while Klonoa just makes small remarks here and there? It wasn't like that in the PS1 version, in fact it was almost the opposite.
GuyWithThePie because they didn't want people to hear Klonoa's awful new voice acting so they could hear a character that actually has a voice that fits him (Huepow)
It was more than just the opposite, Klonoa never spoke until something really interesting happened, in the PS1 version there are times when Hewpoe doesn't speak at all, but he does in those scenes in the Wii version.
Honestly, I think the English dub is made especially for cutscenes. In gameplay, it's just Phantomilian, but with different voice actors. (In my opinion, the English dub isn't great, but it's pretty decent. Wish that English doesn't mix in with Phantomilian, and that the English voices fit Klonoa better)
Not entirely, the choose a stage uses a really nice remaster of the original piece, I wish there was a way to find this version of it online because it's really good.
If you think that's weird you should hear the original pronunciations. Klonoa = Kloa Joka = Jacque (Jack) Ghadius = Ghadiice Leorina = Leonra. The names have always been inconsistent.
what's up with everyone bashing the English dub of Klonoa? I like it the way it is.t he only thing I'd say would be that this voice would fit a more mature Klonoa and that the va would need to sound a tad more childish. huepow sounds just fine. someone explain the hate!
It's all about preference, it's the same as subs vs dubs. Some people just don't like the dub because they are either used to the original voice or they don't like how the actor portrays the character. I'm glad you like the english version, but some people don't share your viewpoint. Sorry, hope that answers your question.

Also, That ending for me was the DARKEST plot twist EVER!! It looked like he was getting sucked into a black hole that formed in the sky all of a sudden!! And when Hewpoe said that wind village isn't the world of his reality, I got so surprised!
As a dank memer the only logical solution for me is that klonoa went to brazil, and then escaped somehow in the second game at the start.
Screw it, I'm knitting me a Klonoa doll!
You made it yet?
Did you ever do it?
8:24 classic “this isn’t over!” Cliche
In my opinion, the best thing that came out of the english version was Joka's voice
With that voice Klonoa has become a Clone (No pun intended I swear) of sonic.
I know that they chose the VA based on the look, but if Klonoa is supposed to be 9 during door to phantomile, man did he hit puberty at a very young age
1:01:12
Hewpoe: Klonoa.....the time is come for you to go back. Back to your Phantomile.
Klonoa: No way.
Hewpoe: Goodbye, Klonoa.
Klonoa: But I don't wanna go.
Hewpoe: Goodbye!
Klonoa: I DON'T WANNA GO!
Hewpoe: I SAID GOODBYE!
Klonoa: NO!
I will say,
Joka and Ghadius are my favorites when it comes to the English VA.
Klonoa's english voice sounds like sonic.
I never imagined Klonoa sounding like that.
Me neither
Imagine the english voice but with the NA redesign of Klonoa.
Joka:YOU NEVER SEE IT COMIIINGGGGGGGGGG
Klonoa Grandpa: i want to die
his grandpa voices igor lol
Holy crap sad ending. :(
Joka/Joker's voice actor is so good though.
Why does Klonoa sound close to Sonic, the Jason Griffith one?
There's a lot of reasons for that, one reason is that the voice actor auditioned without knowledge of the series with the exception of a picture of the scrapped Klonoa character design change.
And another thing, it's possible that he recognised the art style and went in that direction, honestly his delivery is really good even though certain lines like Wahoo fall flat the rest isn't bad.
So he likely went in that direction because after Door to Phantomile Klonoa does look like a Sonic character, I can't blame him at all.
He'd do a good Sonic though.
@@DreamerFromTheDepths Sounds like a crappy excuse, because Klonoa already had a better English voice in 'Klonoa Beach Volleyball'.
@@filipeflowerDid you miss the part where it said he had no guide outside of a single picture of Klonoa? It wasn't his fault, it was the creators at Namco
@@zachatck64 I posted that comment 3 years ago, but thanks for that explanation.
I just finished klonoa phantomile and this feels like a fever dream
Side note not a bad one
It's just...not the same. I could probably get past Klonoa sounding like Sonic (MAYBE), but I really like hearing him speak his language. It helps with the emersion and sell the dream world aspect.
Although, one voice change I can get behind is Hupow's. The original is way too squeaky for my tastes.
I just beat this game a few hours ago and it hqs the most messed up ending I have ever seen in a kids game. also, hewpow to me reminds me of classic mega man lol and really a death of an innocent character in a kids game? dam lol
He doesn't die he has been sent to another world
Roxas The key blade weilder talking about grandpa
@@ridz377 but unless you played the sequel, you wouldn't know that. And sadly, the sequel didn't get remade. So Wii kids would never know what happened to Klonoa unless they looked it up online.
@@ridz377 nice logo of Guntz/Gantz
Why does Huepow- *cough* sorry, I mean "Hewpoe" do all the talking while Klonoa just makes small remarks here and there? It wasn't like that in the PS1 version, in fact it was almost the opposite.
GuyWithThePie because they didn't want people to hear Klonoa's awful new voice acting so they could hear a character that actually has a voice that fits him (Huepow)
@@froakie1404 That's a joke answer but it made me laugh.
It was more than just the opposite, Klonoa never spoke until something really interesting happened, in the PS1 version there are times when Hewpoe doesn't speak at all, but he does in those scenes in the Wii version.
watch until the end... so sad... :'(
That was some anime type ass ending right there.
15:45 This is why Joka is the only good part of the English dub.
I remember that I was looking though boxes and I found this in the box
This game was the birthday gift that shard gave me
This voice is just fucking horrendous. Thank fuck for the Phantomile dub, lol
The English voices are pretty good
Eric Stitt does a good Klonoa voice,
Some scenes don’t fit him but he still tried hard
Honestly, I think the English dub is made especially for cutscenes.
In gameplay, it's just Phantomilian, but with different voice actors.
(In my opinion, the English dub isn't great, but it's pretty decent. Wish that English doesn't mix in with Phantomilian, and that the English voices fit Klonoa better)
lol, at first, i thought klonoa was a girl XD
Oml same
Are we all going to ignore the fact that Huepow is voiced by SuperGirl?
What? Really?
tbh when klonoa try sounding like sonic? i missed the original child like voice :(
54:42 I hear that is roar from Godzilla
15:52 Pointless! Worthless! Useless! Hopeless!
She look like chao form sonic
The story in the credits played backwards to show that something missing; a Museum taking place right after the beginning.

am i the only who thinks US klonoa's voice sounded way too similar to sonic or sonic character voice??
I remember i played this game before, when i was younger and then it just suddenly popped in my head
At least they transferred the original music from the PlayStation version .
Not entirely, the choose a stage uses a really nice remaster of the original piece, I wish there was a way to find this version of it online because it's really good.
5:44. Can we just talk about this?!
Is this made by saga? Cause the guys could pass for a male cream and cheese, or a parody of them at least
No Namco also I thought the same back when I discovered this game back In 2014.
Klonoa's voice sounds like a mix of Sonic and Jiminy Cricket
17:07 - 17:11; Klonoa and king seadoph are moving at normal speed but karal just slomo's himself in mid air...
I was giving this game a chance... and they had to rename Joka to Joker?! Your kidding.
If you think that's weird you should hear the original pronunciations.
Klonoa = Kloa
Joka = Jacque (Jack)
Ghadius = Ghadiice
Leorina = Leonra.
The names have always been inconsistent.
It was a localization error.
I thought his VA did alright 🤷♂️
Yo, these voices arent bad
0:40 dat voice
“Sometimes the universe has a cruel sense of humor”
what's up with everyone bashing the English dub of Klonoa? I like it the way it is.t he only thing I'd say would be that this voice would fit a more mature Klonoa and that the va would need to sound a tad more childish. huepow sounds just fine. someone explain the hate!
It's all about preference, it's the same as subs vs dubs. Some people just don't like the dub because they are either used to the original voice or they don't like how the actor portrays the character. I'm glad you like the english version, but some people don't share your viewpoint. Sorry, hope that answers your question.
Crash Star Gaming yeah, it answers my question perfectly thanks for the response and good video by the way:)
Thank you very much

Me when I heard Angry Grandpa died.
If you hadn't heard there's a vote ballot for Smash Brothers on what DLC characters they like to see.
cp.nintendo.co.jp/en-uk/
What a way to make to feel your efforts were useless.
26:55 Woah. That's awful.
He kind of sounds like Sonic, but there's a style about it that stands out between Eric Stitt and Ryan Drummond
I like Japanese voices better than the English ones.
Rodolfo Contreras I actually uploaded a movie of the game in the original Phantomile language not too long ago.
I love is voice
Klonoa's English VA is such a cutie!~ ♡
"Which you watch?"
I felt that
1:01:52 Lost it.
