Here is some information on Ren's story, in case you didn't already know. I gathered it from old newspaper interviews, articles, and Ren's livestreams and posts where he discussed his condition. Ren Eryn Gill is a British musician/independent artist; born in Wales on March 29, 1990, he grew up in Brighton. Ren pursued a career in music from an early age. In 2009, while studying music performance at Bath Spa University, he began to experience health issues and was struggling to attend his lectures. In 2010, he was signed by Sony Records and was working on an album when his health deteriorated to the point where he was unable to continue and subsequently dropped by Sony. Ren's illness often kept him in bed for up to 23 hours daily. Ren was initially misdiagnosed with depression, bipolar disorder, and chronic fatigue syndrome, which led him to experience psychosis. It would take seven years before a doctor in Belgium finally correctly diagnosed Ren with autoimmunity, Lyme disease, and resulting damage to the brain, organs, joints, and PTSD. Ren eventually underwent stem cell therapy in the United States, which improved his health, but it has not been a cure. Ren is currently in Canada for more treatments, including surgeries, and will have to be there for at least six months (Summer of 2023). Ren’s Canadian doctor discovered that Ren also developed a condition called Mast Cell Activation Disorder, which has affected the myelin sheath in his brain, his thyroid, adrenals, as well as his bones/joints. Ren stated: "It's a lot to wrap my head around having to be away from friends, family, and a successful career, and almost feels like a total juxtaposition to the fact that my music is blowing up right now and spreading to all corners of the world, but that's life, we take the good with the bad." Ren’s recent wisdom tooth removal went well, but he is currently battling an infection following cavitation surgery, and he is not feeling well. Let's keep supporting Ren as he undergoes his treatments. Check out and subscribe to his channel, listen to some of his earlier work, like and comment on his performances, and let's lift Ren's spirits. If you are a believer, pray for him. Ren is an artist with something to say to this generation, and his work is needed in these troubling times. Ren is amazing. He nails every genre. Plays numerous instruments. Raps triple time, makes one shot video’s. This one sounds like it was recorded in that room, because it was. One continuous vocal but the camera work was edited together. It took 4 takes to get right I think. Ren writes and produces all his own music and when you dive into the Ren rabbit hole, you’ll see he’s worked with some other really amazing artists too, which you’ve also probably not heard of. I’ll let others fill you in on his back story, but there is 13 years of his music on UA-cam 🐇🕳️🖤
Loved your reaction. I first saw Ren performing live seven years ago, I was captivated. There was just something so different about him. I have since seen him live many times and it's wonderful that everyone else is finally waking up to his eclectic talents. I think you should check out some of his other genres. There are many of his performances on UA-cam (particularly with the band The Big Push) - from hip hop to reggae to rap - and I also suggest Chalk Outlines (live) to hear his beautiful singing voice. Of course, one of the great things about many of his more recent videos is that they are encouraging more people to examine and discuss their own mental health issues which can only be a good thing. Enjoy the Ren rollercoaster.
Ren has something to offer everyone. He may speak more clearly to his own generation, but his message(s) are for all. He's one of the most passionate and original artists I've heard in a long time.
The Ren rabbit hole is extensive and rich. He's an amazing, singer, rapper and songwriter. "Sick Boi" explains more about his illness. The trilolgy "Tale of Jenny & Screech (Full)" is a masterpiece in story telling. "Money Game Parts 1 & 2" excellent. One of my favorites is "Losing It" for rap. "Power" & "Hunger" fantastic. He was also in a band called The Big Push and they did a lot of street busking. My favorites from them are "I Shot the Sherriff/Road to Zion/Hip Hop" & "Bongo Bong" Everything he touches turns to GOLD. ♥
Wishing Ren good luck with his treatments and recovery in Calgary, Canada... Here's hoping they can further reduce the damage caused by years of misdiagnosis and the damage Lymes Disease has been allowed to cause during this time... Much love 🇬🇧❤️🇬🇧
He has be struggling with mental illness but it was misdiagnosed. He has been fighting with Lyme Disease. All of Ren songs are stroy form just him and his guitar. He has a trilogy song as well its very cool. He also has a song where he basically calls out the medical industry about prescription medications that he has been taking for this disease basically forcing him to down all these pills for Psychosis, Anxiety, depression and a few other things he has as well. He is a very good artist from London and has some covers he has done as well.
There are many tiny details of genius in this. One I noted is that the darkness speaks TO him, but the light speaks THROUGH him. Helping others is a great way to help yourself.
“Hi Ren" is the song that put Ren on everyone's radar since December; it went viral and has garnered more than 6 million views since its debut, but he has been creating great music for more than ten years. Ren’s music videos are generally recorded live, often in a single take, although not necessarily the first take, and from various camera angles. His release, "Sick Boi," is almost another chapter to "Hi Ren." Many of Ren’s songs resonate with people because he addresses struggles that many others face every day. Ren plays multiple instruments (acoustic, electric, and bass guitar, piano, drums), has impressive vocals, is an excellent storyteller, and is quite the philosopher and poet. He is considered by many a modern bard; he calls his music “bardcore.” Ren’s earliest recordings on UA-cam are from his time in a band called “Trick The Fox,” consisting of Ren and his buddies Charlie and Tommy. Unfortunately, the band performed only briefly due to Ren’s onset of health issues. They are very talented. A fun clip to watch is “The Mash Up.” Ren’s trilogy "The Tale of Jenny/Screech/Violet" has been likened to a Shakespearean tragedy and is a prime example of his genius; it is a master’s class in storytelling. The three acts are haunting, and the conclusion will catch you off guard. The trilogy needs to be watched in the order given, as this is the flow of the storyline and is best watched as a whole rather than piecemeal. Ren’s collaborations with Chinchilla (“Chalk Outlines,” “How to Be Me,” “Sexual Healing,” “One Dance/Drunk in Love”) are beautiful and showcase his singing voice. His live music videos are especially impressive. Ren's personal reflections are threaded through many of his songs; "Insomnia," "Depression," “Diazepam," “Penitence,” “Dear God,” “Heretic,” “Dominos,” his "Freckled Angels" album, just to name a few, all deserve a listen. His song "Money Game" (Part I & II) is another recommendation, although it is less of a personal song than it is an indictment of greed and the resulting injustices in this world. Ren’s Hip Hop/Rap style songs are all worth checking out if you enjoy this genre; they are pretty amazing. Check out “The Hunger,” “Genesis,” “What You Want,” “Losing it (FISHER rap retake),” “Right here, right now (Fatboy Slim one shot retake),” "Life is Funny," “Love Music (Parts 1, 2, and 3),” “Crucify Your Culture,” “Power,” and his latest release, “Bittersweet symphony (The Verve retake).” As I recently discovered, Ren also recorded a cover of “Can't Help Falling In Love (Elvis Cover),” that is simply beautiful. Then there are his performances with Sam Tompkins (“Blind Eyed,” “Earned it /Mans World / Falling,” “Walking on the moon/No Diggity”), Eden Nash (“Humble,” “Ocean”), Bibi (“Crutch,” “Ahiahiaoha”), Molly McKinna (“Penitence”), his former bandmate, Romain Axisa (“French Song”), which are all great. "The Big Push" busking sessions, concerts, and live recordings all are awesome and well worth checking out. Their covers of "I Shot the Sheriff/Road to Zion/Hip Hop," "Wade in the Water/Nina Simone/Trouble so Hard," "An Englishman in New York," “Bongo Bong,” “War Pigs,” the songs "Oh My Woman," “Swan Song,” “Sweet Little Lady," "It's Alright," "Watch Out," “Dignity,” and so many others are equally impressive. In anticipation of his stay in Canada for more treatments, Ren prepared some music ahead of time to be released over the next six months that he expects to be gone. He released “Sick Boi” and “Bittersweet Symphony (The Verve retake),” which is another masterful work.
Nice to see you found Ren. I've subscribed in anticipation of you reacting to more of his amazing work. Reacters are gaining a lot of mileage out of Ren's content. It would be nice if you all encourage your followers to subscribe to his channel 🤔
Just to add little contents. He got lymes disease which made him bed bond. But he continued to sing, and write. So him standing in this is even more powerful then one may think. Also I'd suggest anyone go and read Rens comment under his video. It explains a lot as well. Great artist and great song. Also he is singing this live if I am correct. With the mic he has on, and along with his movements. You can tell.
A wonderful reaction to a wonderful artist.... This was truly an example of undersatding, laugh at me, i'll laugh at you, come on bring it hard to write, even harder to sell, awesome stuff..!😃
For the journey to see who is Ren I would go: "Sick Boi" "Illest of our time" "The Hunger" "Genesis" and "Su!c*de" More of the story telling style: "The tale of Jenny and Screech" (it is a trilogy) To see more of his range: "money game 1 & 2" "animal flow" "chalk outlines" - Collab with Chinchilla "losing it" - FISHER rap verse "what you want" - Homage to beastie boys "War pigs" - Black sabbath cover with his band The Big Push Some suggestions if one is interested in jumping into this rabbit hole.
Without scrolling down. If you look closely, he's wearing a mic, that was a live performance and I've read it was done in a few takes, because of the close ups at the end.
Ren is almost every style. The only thing I've not heard is metal. "Crucify your culture " is kind of rage against the machine vibes. Im just waiting for him to try metal core or something though. He's so good.
He does a great cover of Black Sabbath’s War Pigs with his bandmates from The Big Push, busking on a street corner! That’s about as metal as I’ve seen! But yes, Ren is a master at just about every genre!!! You can check it out on UA-cam’s The Big Push channel.
He has music in different styles, if you want more of his storytelling, check out the tale of Jenny and screech, if you want to hear his vocals check out chalk outlines & how to be me with Chinchilla, and people never recommend crutch, but it's amazing...
This was a live performance. Done in one complete take. The guitar at the beginning was purposely played in a harsh tone setting up the rest of the performance as was the following two note vocal.
Audio may have been recorded in one take, but the video is edited from a couple of different takes. Samuel Perry-Falvey who filmed it, clarifes that in the comments of Jonathan Hiller's reaction to Hi Ren.
The reason it sounded so raw, from what I gather, it's a one-take live performance. Also do check out the Full Version of "Tale of Jenny & Screech" him a guitar and a camera and I have seen worse movies.
Audio may have been recorded in one take, but the video is edited from a couple of different takes. Samuel Perry-Falvey who filmed it, clarifes that in the comments of Jonathan Hiller's reaction to Hi Ren.
Please react to his Masterpiece that is a trilogy of 3 songs woven together to make the most creative story with a mind numbing twist ending...The Tales Of Jenny and Screech (FULL)...which includes the 3rd one..VIOLETS Tale...which MUST be watched at together and in that order.
You are LATE on Ren. Lol. This song is such a masterpiece in an artistic way, but not everyone gets it. Him, NZ, Tom Macdonald, and other artists have done these polar roles in songs, but this is like the Bohemian Rhapsody of mental illness.
Some cool things in the video people miss. When the darkness is talking, the lights flicker, and his shadow is dark. On the hope side the lights stay on and his body has less shadow. The lights flickering represents how your brain has misfires. When it's flickering violently when he stands, it's because it's trying to get inside, but he doesn't let it. Also, this was done live in only a few takes. Usually, videos are studio recorded, and the video is shot separately. Not done often. He did an amazing job!

If you do the trilogy, it has to be with your undivided attention… and trust me man, you’ll enjoy it!
Cheers from Chile!
Good reaction. Next: JENNY & SCREECH (FULL) - ua-cam.com/video/TYAnqQ--KX0/v-deo.html.
Welcome to Ren's world! Try his Hunger, Genesis, Losing It, Power all excellent
It was all recorded live
Even better 🤘🔥
Without scrolling down. If you look closely, he's wearing a mic, that was a live performance and I've read it was done in a few takes, because of the close ups at the end.
Ren is a true artist - Yes it was recorded live in one take as many of his videos are. There were four takes and he used the 4th one.
I hear he does all his videos/songs in a single take?
As someone who suffers with mental illness the song makes me cry every fucking time I listen to it.
You can check it out on UA-cam’s The Big Push channel.
this is literally the modern day sweating bullets, i keep forgetting there's not two people there!
Next up has to be The Tales of Jenny and Screech (Full)
This kid is great! He's a performer not an album guy, imo.
You must listen to the tale of Jenny and Screetch!! Jenny’s Tale Screetches tale and violets tale!!!
He has music in different styles, if you want more of his storytelling, check out the tale of Jenny and screech, if you want to hear his vocals check out chalk outlines & how to be
me with Chinchilla, and people never recommend crutch, but it's amazing...
This was recorded in one take. It took 4 attempts, and he chose the best one.
you may like the tales of jenny and screech (& violet)
This is a live, continuous recording.
The best way I have found to describe Ren is a modernized Bard

Sometimes the "BLEGH" isn't a punch in the face, its a subtle laceration that leaves you bleeding from a major artery.
Ren is from Wales
Please react to his Masterpiece that is a trilogy of 3 songs woven together to make the most creative story with a mind numbing twist ending...The Tales Of Jenny and Screech (FULL)...which includes the 3rd one..VIOLETS Tale...which MUST be watched at together and in that order.
Theater-core. Dude is auditioning for Hamilton
Bardcore is how he describes it.
Check out tale of Jenny and screech full version, sick boi and chalk outlines - ren is a genius
UH-MA-ZIIIIING
You should react to both versions of Asking Alexandria - the death of me
If you like this look up Fallen Angel from Mass of Men
4 takes to get through it in one take. It was live
Epstien Barr and lupus here
You are LATE on Ren.
Everyone except his fans have been sleeping on Ren for years.
The amount of times people have recommended him for years and no react is unreal
You're cool 👍
Eminem + NF = Ren
Nice reaction bro... Check iut Jenny, Screech and Violet the full trilogy... ✊🏽

Rehearsal is the original autotune.
