Thank you, guys, very much for this. It seems so simple, and straightway forward, but boy can it get messed up. Especially when someone wants it to be messed up. Godbless you guys for making it plain and simple, to understand.
I had a discussion on Baptism with a classmate in High School. I went to Mark 16:16 to prove the case for baptism. He went to someone in his congregation for clarification. Sadly, that was the end of the conversation
Just for reference Don Blackwell lists some verses that are not in the Codex Sinaiticus or the Vaticanus around 22 minutes in. There's a transcript of the Sinaiticus online, but I can't find one for the Vaticanus. I did my own research and looked up these verses. John 21:25 isn't the Sinaiticus, Mark 1:1 is there but is missing "the Son of God" at the end of the verse, Luke 6:1 is in the Sinaiticus, Luke 22:43 is there, Luke 23:34 is there, John 9:38 is there, John 19:33-34 is there, Ephesians 1:1 is there, and he also mentions Hebrews 9:15 which is also there. Don then goes on to say the books 1st and 2nd Timothy and Titus which are also in the Sinaiticus. Also the book of Revelation! So of the verses you listed only John 21:25 is missing. All in all the Sinaiticus seems to be a reliable resource.
The foolishness of men tries every attempt to darken God's TRUTH with their untruth of refusing the simple, understanding of God Truth. That's why there is division. Appreciate the bible study that 100% supports the essential of baptism in scripture.
So how do you understand Acts 2:38. When Peter told the crowd to repent and be baptized, was he telling them to be baptized into Christ? Is this how they would understand it?
@waynebland6754 Peter was addressing the Jews saying they needed to repent of killing their messiah and be water baptized in the name of Jesus Christ in order to get remission of their sins. This is not how our sins are forgiven today, according to Paul.
John 6:29- Jesus said that belief in Christ’s gospel is a work of God. Therefore faith itself is a work. So what kind of work are we talking about here? Works of merit it works that God has commanded us to do? Baptism is a work commanded by God, therefore it’s necessary for salvation.
@@austinholland8470 A work of God is not a work of man, now is it? Ephesians 2:8-9 proves that faith is not a work. "Works of merit" is a phrase the cofc invented in an effort to justify the works gospel they teach.
@@Mman_-_79 no sir, Ephesians 2:8-9 the context is that works of merit (I’ve built so many hospitals, i give so much money to the poor every week, etc.) do not save us. Works that God has commanded of us are what justify our faith if we act in obedient faith. Works of merit is not a “CoC” word. James 2:17- “17 Even so faith, if it hath not works, is dead, being alone.” This verse eradicates the idea of being saved by faith only. Jesus called faith a work in John 6:29. Do you believe John 6:29, Jesus’s words, contradict Ephesians 2:8-9? Yes or no?
Thanks for the study brothers. Just on the point of the thief on the cross argument: 1/ I don't think you can categorially call the baptism of Jesus and His disciples was simply 'the baptism of John'. 2/ Because we don't know whether the thief was baptised or not- it's an argument from ignorance. (And the fact that he was a condemned thief, confessing his guilt makes it clear he hadn't probably repented till this point.) 3/ Most importantly- So everyone who, post the death of Christ the testator, repents and believes in a situation where baptism is physically not possible; you are saying they have no remission of sins. I think that's a problem brothers. God bless you both
If I/anyone who may be on their sick bed and still in their right mind and is taught the one Gospel of Christ and believes it AND is convinced, persuaded by it that immersion in water is a Must to have their Past sins washed away by the blood of Christ.... what could keep one from Obeying???!!!!!...I pray no one could keep me or you from doing what the law giver has commanded to be saved, redeemed, forgiven.
@peterharrison9240 In flaming fire taking vengeance on them that know not God, and that obey not the gospel of our Lord Jesus Christ (2THESS 1:8) And the thief was saved before Christ died (Mark 2:10) and I can't understand why people wait till it's to late to obey the gospel, If people were serious about going to heaven, I myself would be searching the Scriptures daily to see if what I was hearing was true!
The thief died under the old covenant. Baptism was not a requirement for salvation at that time. The thief was saved by faith, grace, and love. We are also saved by these things today, but to enter into the gift of the Holy Spirit Kingdom, you must act on your faith and one of the required acts of faith is baptism. (Another would be, be faithful unto death for example, Rev 2:10.)
So whats this going on now a no repentance and no baptism gospel whats next you can never loose your salvation oh thats here allready OSAS. All that crap is going to take even more to hell who cares about Greek or Hebrew translations the people who made the King James were straight on but people just want to make the Bible say what they want going around an endless circle changing what the Bible really says to fool themselves and anyone they can.
EXACTLY. Tired of all the false teaching Don explains this subject and all others very well. People who want to deny the truth of baptism for salvation may as well throw away the whole Bible since they want it to fit THEIR own sinful narrative anyway.
In this video, both their arguments for water baptism and the arguments they use from others against water baptism are made without any acknowledgment whatsoever to the revelation of the mystery given to Paul for us. The baptism that Paul explains in 1 Corinthians 12:13 reads... For by one Spirit are we all baptized into one body, whether we be Jews or Gentiles, whether we be bond or free; and have been all made to drink into one Spirit. Notice the baptism that he preached is performed by God and immerses a person into Christ's body. There is only one baptism. Water baptism is performed by man and immerses a person into water. Water baptism puts no one in Christ. -Old Covenant is for Israel -New Covenant is for future Isreal. -Revelation of the mystery (Paul) is for the Body of Christ. This is rightly dividing the word of truth. It's all truth, but much of it is not written to us and must be divided rightly.

We are saved by baptism but not baptism into water. We are saved by a baptism into Christ, into his death and resurrection. It's a work of God.

We are not saved immersion at all. The power is in the resurrection from the waters. Stop preaching heresy.

Excellent lesson on immersion/Baptism.
1 Cor 12:13 is the same baptism as Acts 2:38, John 3:5, Mark 16:16 and 1 Peter 3:21.
According to Ephesians 4:5 there is only one baptism, so what you are saying that the great commission is spirit baptism?
Do you think when Peter told the crowd to repent and be baptized in Acts 2:38 he was telling them to be baptized by the Spirit?
@waynebland6754 exactly, that was my point, we only practice water baptism today!
