Signal on the right: 1.5 pairs of Safetran 12x20 inch lights with WCH 2nd Generation LEDs, 1 Safetran 12x20 inch light with a Leotek EV Series LED, a dead Safetran mechanical bell, a Safetran gate mechanism, and RECO gate lights.
This crossing is located in a quiet zone. Trains do not blow their horns at this crossing.
Yesterday, I decided to head-out in the afternoon to do some railfanning. I couldn't entirely decide on where to go at first, but I just decided to wander over to Vine Street in Decatur to see if anything good was coming, and I had heard the MP 372.0 detector reading-out for what I figured was likely an eastbound on my way out to Decatur as well. My assumptions were correct, and I wound-up not having to wait too long before my first train of the day came rolling through: NS 284 with a BNSF ET44C4 leading a BNSF ES44C4 and a BNSF ES44DC for power, elephant-style. There was a friendly crew aboard this train as well, who gave me a horn blast as they approached.
As you can see, nothing has changed to the equipment at this crossing since I last recorded it. Unfortunately, however, the Safetran mechanical bell here has finally died, and I wouldn't be too surprised if NS finally just replaces it as a result. Hopefully they get it repaired, or replace it with another mechanical bell, but, either way, I'm glad I have a bunch of videos from here when it was still operating.
