After listening to this review and many others about the DX240, I bought it. Your review is my favorite. The DX240 is everything you say it is. It was your review that really brought my attention to the DX240 vs the Fiio, any Astell&Kern player, or any other. If anything ever "happens to it", I would buy this one again in a second.

I've had 4 iBasso DAPs, three were DX200 and one DX160. Two of the DX200s failed with different faults, and thenDX160 lasted 5 days before it stopped allowing me to unlock the screen on bootup. That's a 75% failure rate. I don't care how good they sound, I will never buy another iBasso product.

I used to love small DAPs just for music, but over the last like 4 years I got used to a huge in comparison screen of a phone that I just can't go back to the smallest DAPs. Like it feels like I'd need a microscope to navigate the thing and reading glasses to see the album art. Which is such a contrast to the effortless presentation of massive, glorious album art and all the information you ever need on a big-screen device. On the other hand, giant players like the M11 or the iBasso lineup are of good size screens, but the weight and thinness.. fk. I do not want to carry a brick. I don't care how good the music sounds, that's just insane. If I want the best of the best sound I'd listen on my home setup with all the giaat amps and dacs and the like. Portable. As in pocketable, not need-a-truck-to-howl-around.

I just ordered the AP80 Pro coming tomorrow at $100 on Amazon. A. DAPs usually sound far superior to the phones or tablets B. conrol over the collection and C. can use them with wired and/or balanced headphones and just get a superior listening experience. Also battery life, and features. My IPhone 14 is fine for the car but I wouldn't rely on it otherwise for serious music. I also got some AirPod knock off IEMs and they sound fine, but have almost NO power. Plus the DAPs have at least a decent amp
built in. The Bluetooth on the AP80 is just icing on the cake, as I doubt I'll even use it that much.

With the Ap80pro-x player, I can say that it runs well on Android systems and is stable if you want to stream it with your smartphone.
Via cable as well as Bluetooth, but with Apple I can't recommend it.
With Apple, only Bluetooth with the neutered SBC mode works, which is really disappointing.
And with cable to connect an Apple device, the player crashes, interrupts the playback, so it doesn't work.
Which is a real shame otherwise it would have been a pretty good player if both worked equally.
Also the Kamaeraadt adapter doesn't work, I tried it and decided to return it.
Hidizs didn't give me the impression that they were going to fix it with a firmware update.
So I can say for Android devices it's okay but for Apple devices it's not.
At this price you have to say that you should consider the Ifi Hip Dac 2 because you need a smartphone for the Hidizs anyway. The Hip Dac 2 probably does a better job and runs on both operating systems.

A DAP will always sound better then a phone, doesnt matter what you do with dongle dacs, because you must live with the Android stack in the middle or equivilent on IOS, pit it this way, the Hidisz sounds better then a dongle dac of twice the price. MSEB is an AI parametric EQ that translates your preference into the proper settings and filters that you would mostly not know how to use on an actual professional parametric eq, not being a studio sound engineer.

Their Audio Note Kaisei capacitors reach their full potential after around 200h according to the company. When it comes to the headphones, i dont believe in a burn in process longer than 20h. Just my 12 cents.
