Your review on Canyon's website brought me here. I got the same 2023 Stoic 4 but in the MEDIUM size. For the record, I'm 175cm with an 80cm inner leg length and the reach of the medium size is perfect for me. The Shimano Deore 4-Pot brakes with 203mm front rotor and the 170mm dropper post that come standard with the medium size are great. The problem is that you've picked the SMALL size because you wanted a "playful bike". You should have gotten the same Medium size as your Torque. The difference in riding between the small and medium Stoic is negligible (I rode BOTH sizes before buying) but the small size Stoic 4 only gets you a 180mm front rotor and 150mm dropper post. Additionally, it's not a 29" as the medium size is, but a 27.5" bike. If you still can, exchange the bike for the size Medium one. If that ship has sailed, no need to replace the excellent Deore 4-pot brakes for SRAM Code. Replace the front rotor for a RT-66 203mm and change the resin brake pads the bike comes standard with to the Shimano sintered option (D02S). That's what I did and trust me: you can race the Megavalanche in these Shimano brakes and metal pads. All in all, this is one of the best value hardtails you can currently buy. I've waited two years to get it, as I'm a Shimano guy and didn't want the previous models with SRAM components (those brakes REALLY sucked!!!). I agree with you that the bike has only three minor flaws: saddle, grips and lack of any chainstay protection. But in the end, contact points are very personal and easily replaceable.
great! no im super happy with the sizing of the bike.I didn't want to get the 29" wheels. I did got what i waned - a playful 27.5" bike that i can go to the jumps or the pumptrack and i can use it to pull my child's stroller on the weekends when we do tours the whole family. i did change the breaks just because i wanted the same feel that i have on my torque. Love the SRAM CODEs. And thats basically it. Its an amazing value for the money. I must say that i preferred the last year configuration with the SRAM equipment.
Hi! , I am 170cm. Not sure about my inner leg length but I was recommended an S. Do you think I should go for the M as I want the 29" instead of the 27.5" wheels.
@@PikachuuLatte If you want the 29", you need to go M. There's no way around it. If your inner leg is at least 80cm, you should be fine. Additionally, you can always get a shorter stem.
yeah canyon have this proprietary deal with DT-Swiss and they make a cheap wheel set for them. Not the best option but the wheels are strong non of the less
@@nedyalkopetkov I'll be putting them under the test. I have duroc wheels on my radon enduro bike and so far they been holding my 95 kg weight. I hope for these to do the same! BTW was the cassette not locked when bike came ? The bike has just arrived and the cassette was only mounted on the rear wheel but not locked.
170cm / 72. I'm trying to decide between XS vs. S. Any advice? I'm new to this sport but not new to riding bikes like a hooligan back in my childhood days
@DullZeroCool hey thanks for getting back to me. I spoke with Canyon and the rep said XS could work since it's closer to my reach. I'm about 410 reach and the XS is 405, I can increase the reach with another stem. The S has a reach of 430
I didn’t. I ride it on the DH tracks here around and till now I’ve zero play in the head tube. For some reason no dirt comes inside so I just left it like that.
Because canyon's kinda dumb with their part selection. Altough i doubt it's really that much trouble to stop with those, mine(first"gen" stoic) came with 2 piston srams and it wasn't even that terrible honestly. Deore is definitely a nice brake he just likes to complain i guess
@@almabatekert_villanykorte3387Sounds like this guy is spoiled by high end stuff with how he talks. Anything else is just trash. They come with resin pads and I bet a quick switch to metal would make them usable.
People are too picky about parts I’m only a second or two slower on my mid tier diamond back hard tail (Line) with a coil Xcr sun tour fork and tektro single pot brakes, and the bike park I work at uses giant glory’s. 180mm rotors and 4 pot brakes are definitely enough to stop anyone
nice bike man , iam 183 cm and caynon calculator say M size, inner side leg 82 or 83 , how tall are you and is that M size or ? I dont know to order m or l size
Hi it’s a more playful bike than trail bike. The reach is more than sufficient. I’m 173 with inner leg 84. But it feels great for me. Jet again for the torque it recommended for my size between S and M and there I got M. I would trust them with the sizing.
l size,i got a friend,he already have a stoic 4 size L,when i first tried the bike(1y ago) i was 1.85 and size L was perfect,now i'm 1.90 and size L its still good,but anyway,for 1.83 size L,its gonna be a lot easyer to ride and more comfortable
Според мен сложи метални/синтеровани накладки и сложи 200мм диск отпред, карам със срам спирачки и когато съм пробвал шиманските ми е правило впечатление, че шиманските се усещат по-силни.

Was there anything else you needed to change to use a 203mm rotor? Or the pads for that matter? Thank you!

Hey man
How wide is the inner rim ?
Cant find the right info
And wanna get the tape before the bike comes .

whats that little black device installed on the left sore of extended rear axle nut?
that's where I can attach my child's stroller when I ride with him.
Hi! I just Recieved my Stoic 4, but i noticed the rear hub sounds terrible. How is yours?
Are you gonna make test ride video.. i'm interested in the same bike- probably size S - 172cm tall 80 inner leg

It is the common feature for this generation 😂. Seems hard to improve that
Can you do a video with the hub sound ;

Is it possible that the original pads were bad or the rotor was contaminated?
I just prefer the SRAM CODE feel.
Can you use 29" wheels on the small and x small size bikes?
That would be impossible due to the geometry of the bike, it has a very short chainstay

Is it bare alloy ?
Or is it silver paint
Every raw alloy colored frame is painted..it would be pretty dumb to leave it bare
@@almabatekert_villanykorte3387 bare alloy gets clear coated not painted silver
