Alphaville is a German synthpop band that became very popular in the mid-1980s. Formed in 1982, its founders are Marian Gold (real name Hartwig Schierbaum; born May 26, 1954), Bernhard Lloyd (real name Bernhard Gössling; born June 6, 1960) and Frank Mertens (real name Frank Sorgatz; born October 26 1961). The team was originally called Forever Young, but later changed its name to Alphaville. The group gained worldwide fame thanks to three hits - "Big In Japan", "Forever Young" and "Sounds Like A Melody", released in 1984.[1]
