It’s too bad it could not be repurposed for housing. A few of them were redone that way, back when the shoe shops closed. So sad to see so many jobs lost.. the town never did recover. Most youth, like myself, moved away. ( talking about New Hampshire, USA)
That building looked as if it was in good nick and well maintained what was the reason to knock it down, future developments or a bigger and better building to take place . Some buildings are demolished at dark especially old historic buildings so it doesnt attract protesters to stop the demolition from going ahead i have this happen many times in my life and nower days the lige expectancy of a building of this size is now about 30 years or even less ,highrise 50 years an average family size house 25 years ,not long isnt it its all just total greed.
