- In this episode we hit Lithuania. After a 9.5 hour train ride from Warsaw we arrived in time for the Vilnius street Music Festival. What an interesting, fun, vibrant place. We absolutely love Vilnius.
Historical correction - Vilnius was annexed the Russian Empire in 1795, by Poland 1920 -1939 and annexed by USSR 1939 -1940
When you eat beetroot soup, the potato should be eaten together at once with the soup, not separately😉Then all the flavors intertwine so that you just can't stop eating🤤

05:23 since 20th of February 1922 Vilnius was annexed by Zhiligovski and Pilsudski forces to Poland. Yes, we had beef about Suwalki (Suvalkai), Grodno (Gardinas) and Wilno (Vilnius) with our neighbors Poles.

Always check, what moment you are capturing when arriving to Vilnius. You came on Street Music Day festival (Gatvės Muzikos Diena), which means that there were multiple open air concerts all out through entire Vilnius. You also arrived on Open House Vilnius event, where with some simple initial registration you could get into various interesting places (e.g. National Theatre, various embassies, etc), also buildings of brutalism architecture, which Vilnius has some, etc. It does not have to be only tourist streets and venues.

Probably because ethnic Lithuanians constituted only 2% of the population of Vilnius. By the way, the man who made this decision (Juzefas Pilsudskis) was a Polish Lithuanian. I am not trying to justify this act, but to present the background of this conflict, we must not forget that we are talking about a part of Europe that until 1918 was within the borders of three great powers, therefore what happened after their fall resembles classic post-colonial wars of nations to determine the borders of their countries.
