  • In this video we will discuss some different items to keep on hand for your flock. That way, you are prepared in case an emergency, injury, or illness arises. If you are ever unsure about a product, dosage, or symptoms that your bird is presenting, PLEASE call your vet. If it is something serious, get them correct medical attention. These items are just handy things to have close by in a pinch or for situations that are not life threatening.
I discuss pros and cons of diatomaceous earth (D.E. Powder) in this video as well. If you prefer not to use it, that's fine. Do your own research and do what's right for you.
Remember, if you have to use Corid it's wise to follow up with Nutri-Drench to ensure that they do not become vitamin deficient. In the video, I mentioned you can feed their eggs back to them if you wish to avoid eating their eggs while treating with Corid. If you want to avoid coming into contact with the medication entirely, just toss the eggs for a couple of weeks. But as of the time of filming, there is no egg withdraw period required with this particular product. But do what makes you comfortable.
Don't forget to deworm your flock as needed. It's recommended to rotate with different dewormers since parasites can become resistant if you only use one kind. Because of this required rotation, I did not go into detail on specific dewormers. Some keepers only deworm if there are symptoms of parasites while others prefer to deworm as a preventative. Consult your vet for recommendations if you are not sure which route to take. Keep in mind, some medications require a period of egg withdraw.
Use products according to the directions on the label.
