  • www.nielsenrep... ✅ Debunking the Myth of the "Golden Age of Islam"
In their defence of further islamisation of Western nations, Muslim activists often claim that Islam had a great period of scientific work called the "Golden Age of Islam". For example, Mehdi Hasan - an activist originating from Al Jazeera, the propaganda outlet of Qatar, one of the great funders of the Muslim Brotherhood - in his Oxford Union debate even claimed that "Muslim scientists" are at the foundation of the European Rennaissance.
This claim made by Mehdi Hasan is a great disrespect:
    - towards the ancient Greece, Persian and Indian scientists that actually had an impact on the state of scientific progress on the whole Eurasian continent around the year 600AD, just ten years before Muhammad made up his first "revelation".
    - towards these advanced civilizations of the Ancient World and their science, because Islam was the force that destroyed them and/or greatly limited the continuation of scientific work that they had been doing for entire centuries before Islam came to stop it.
    - towards the European nations during the Renaissance and Enlightenment, because not a single part of the world came even close to the progress that the Europeans produced during these time periods (and actually also already before it during the period we now know as the Middle Ages).
It you only take the scientific progress that a small country like the Netherlands produced during its Golden Age, you have list of scientists and inventions that overwhelms the "Golden Age of Islam", even if you were to multiply the list of the mostly Persian individuals claimed to have been "Muslim scientists" by x10.
In this video I debunk the myth of the Golden Age of Islam by digging into the broader historic context and discussing many of the individuals claimed by people like Mehdi Hasan to have been "Muslim scientists".

@@yuzan3607 I think it is wrong too, saying it is the fault of Arabic people that it is called Arabic Numerals. You adopted it from India, we adopted it from your writings, the people who named them so in European literature, came in to contact with them from Arabic writings on math, so that was the name it was given. The issue is more that Muslims in Europe are now using it falsely, as a statement about how the Islamic Golden Age is what created the number system, as a means to sell Islam as a highly scientifically minded religion, when that is based on their need to dress Islam up as something it is not.

I am an ex-Muslim. Therefore I am an apostate and my life would be forfeit if I wrote this under my real name.
Islam is not a religion of peace, and it is not an ideology that embraces science.
Even in the west it is understood that Galileo and Newton did not make their brilliant discoveries based on their understanding of Christianity. There is no such thing as Christian physics, just as there is no such thing as Islamic algebra.
The great minds of history had to struggle against religious dogma in order to enlighten the world.
Kepler wanted to prove that we live in a world governed by perfect spheres and heavenly circles, but the data of his observations didn’t match Church dogma.
All of the classical thinkers who happened to be Muslim were the beneficiaries of Greek and Persian science and philosophy, and were all labeled infidels at one point or another.
Mehdi Hasan does what all Islamists do; he revises history to put Islam in a positive light.

While muslim world did nothing. So all this ''European culture owes an immense and immeasurable debt to the world of Islam'' is the biggest exaggeration and islam pandering I ever read.
Western Europe lost many classic Greek and Roman texts due to wars in Migration Period. While islam conquer the richest parts of Roman Empire and with that all the knowledge with it. Then all this conquered people, many of them were eastern christians, translated all that texts to arabic. So islam's only achivement was that it did not destroy ancient texts like barbarians in Europe did.
When Western Europe got to their feet together after all that devastation of Migration Period, it quickly start to collect lost knowledge (with some help of ''islam'') and what more, it start to upgrade with a fast pace. And this is what makes Christian world and muslim world different. Islam had the knowlage and advantage and didn't do much with it. Hell no! Just like George Daniels did, he learnt about cutting edge watch tech and redeveloped the mechanical escapement to be more efficient then the digital watches of the time, which is an EXTRAORDINARY feat of engineering! A mechanical watch made out of 100% metal more accurate then a digital quartz watch in the 70s- early 80s!!!!!! Mind blowing! And he did it through education and engineering, if he eradicated the original watch designs from his bran he would NEVER have been able to come up with such an efficient escapement within his lifetime!

I did a white paper in university days about Arab medicine. The following findings I recall: 1) 99% of the most fameous Arab medical scientists was merely applying Roman medical traditions (Galen - 4 body humours). 2) From 650 to 1650 AD there was only one original chirurgical innovation by Arabs - the operation of eye cataracts - it was only practiced in Egypt by one fameous doctor and forgotten afterwards. 3) Most "Arab scientists" weren't Muslims but (formally converted)Jews. That is also why "Golden Age" stuff of islam only happened in Egypt, Andaluz (Spain) and Isfahan (Persia) where large Jewish-Christian minorities lived. 4) There were no universities ever and the science greats of the Golden Age were singular aberrations, a few in the 10th to 13th century, nothing after 1256 (fall of Bagdad to Mongols)
    6) the only tangible role of the Arabs was preserving a solid amount of Greco-Roman writings via translations by Jews into Arabic that would be translated a few hundred years later back into Latin by other Jews. Not sure how highI would rank that achievement consider it was the Muslims who destroyed the Romano-greek and Persian empires in the first place.

Most of what you mention involving the applying of roman traditions was ALSO being done in europe at the time. Europe hadpretty much 0 medical innovations up until the 1800s with ideas such as germ theory, spontaneous generation and advancements involving immunisation. The only pre-enlightenment medical innovations and advancements made by the europeans then was ideas such as basic hygiene and theories that were complete regurgitations of much older already known roman ideas. Mind you basic hygiene was a thing in arabia for quite some time too ;)
The only difference is, whilst both were applying roman traditions, the Arabs were the ones who were actually researching and developing different perspectives when it came to medicine. The europeans sat with the 4 humours and the Theory of Opposites for about 900 years until they decided they should do something. Research it yourself, Im not bullshitting you

@@cloroxbleach9237you seem to misunderstand how universities are defined in academic circles. Example: It is true that Timbuktu for hundreds of years was a place of scholarship and the foremost chronicles regarding the history of West African kingdoms. However, just like Rome never developed universities in the sense of modern "college traditions", that tradition is traceable to Athenean philosophical academies with the first post-Greek examples popping up for philosophy, law, theology and medicine in Italy (Salerno, Bologna, Salamanca) in the 13th century. There is no university in the Islamic world that can trace its lineage directly back to the places you mention. There are quite a few universities in Spain, France, Italy and even England who have been universities in name and practice without interruption for 600 to 800 years. So even if we would agree these centers of yours had universities and not just a scholarly community it is undisputable that the "scientific traditions" in the Islamic world were too weak to allow a consistent development and expansion of collective and collaborative scientific knowledge management on the basis of full-time academics teaching classes of students. Already Martin Luther went to a university and had classes, but none of the Muslim great minds in the 15th or 16th century did.

By then the scientific method of documented experimentation and the principle of deriving medical knowledge from exhuming human corpses followed by teaching these findings broadly to college attendees gained broad and soon general acceptance in universities in Western Europe. This is one reason why the "enlightenment" period fully bypassed the Ottoman empire wnd all orher Islamic states .... Don't believe them, but you can always do a personal enquiry to know if it's a true claim or not, without disregarding it right? I do the same with the other view points. Nothing can be trusted on the internet, so better enquire yourself and find if the other person is wrong instead of outrightly dismissing something just because they are associated with labels that are not considered politically correct in current socia climate.
After watching Paul Nielsen's videos for instance, I go online to make sure if he's saying the truth, I'll trust his narrative after I fact check some claims myself. When he turns out consistently honest, I can start believing him without cross checking facts. But in modern political climate, people blindly believe the politically correct narratives without fact-checking, this is very anti-intellectual trend and would affect our scientific progress in the long run.

Many of the same "Muslim" scientists that modern Muslims are so proud of and site their contributions as proof for their dogma's rightfulness were not actually Muslims. Some of them were even atheists and criticized not only Islam but all religions openly. Rhazes and Khayyam being the famous ones.
I would argue, as an atheist, that the religion of Islam was in fact one of the main factors in the occurrence of the "Golden Age." Had those Arabs not been united under the banner of Islam by their prophet, they wouldn't and couldn't set out to create the largest empire the world had seen up to that point. Without those conquests happening, all those different peoples wouldn't have a common tongue to communicate in. The Moors from North Africa, for example, wouldn't be as interested in reading the writings of some guy in a faraway land called Persia, written in an unknown language. Islam also gave all those different peoples a single identity, which helped a lot. Knowledge wouldn't travel nearly as swiftly and efficiently as it did under the caliphates, either.
Those fanatic desert-dwelling Arabs did cause the Golden Age, even if unintentionally.

      48-47 a.C.: primi danni, collaterali a un incendio che vide Giulio Cesare come corresponsabile;

I'm always thinking can't we just change the Qur'an to be more friendly to Western civilization and science and teach Muslims that version. Having a version of Islam that is updated could do wonders for the Muslims here.

Problem is that the Quran is believed to be the direct word of god and that anyone who tries to change it is an apostate who should be killed. That is why Islam is so rigid.

What wonders?.All those techs and new knowledges discovered by those europeans have causes many implications to our earth. The introduction of steams alone even caused climate change and the discoveries of atom which bring destruction to our extinction. The europeans have bring more harm than good.Even our fiat money.A paper money system with no value!

You should really include sources in your videos in the future, it would make it a lot easier to understand where your claims come from & make them a lot more believable.
