    I lost 40 lbs at age 64. Yo yo dieted my entire adult life. That was in 2017. I take no meds. I've maintained the weight loss effortlessly too. I switched to a whole food plant based diet. My husband did too. We limit processed food. Sugar us highly addictive. My downfall was always salt and oil. I could eat an entire bag of potato chips. Even now I stay away from chips for the most part. The craving did subside. You are correct about sizing. Every 10 lbs equates to another size. I've gone from a 14 to an 8. You can do this!

    A year and a half ago I was diagnosed with Type 2 diabetes. I was 72. Since then I've lost 40 pounds and feel the best I have in years! I had no specific amount I wanted to lose, I just knew with diabetes I would have to weigh less.
    During that time I've gone from injecting insulin 3 times a day to taking Metformin tablets twice a day and have kept my blood sugar numbers under 100. I test my blood at least 4 times a day.
    Since empty carbs are what spike blood sugar I no longer eat sugar, high carb vegetables and fruits, baked goods, cookies, candy, white breads, rolls, rice, or pasta. Processed foods are out also! That does sound very restricting but you would not believe how much food I eat and how full I am! And how satisfied I am! I just have a lot of the foods that I can eat around the house and in the frig so I can throw together a quick meal quite easily!
    I can go out to eat and have numerous things on the menu and all I have to do is keep an eye on the high carb items and not order or eat them. Cutting out high-carb, empty calorie foods is actually quite easy and doesn't give you a feeling of being deprived. I bake a lot of Keto-style desserts which satisfy my sweet tooth although they do not taste like standard sugar desserts. I eat a lot of healthy, organic fats, but that does not effect my check ups nor weight loss. I also either take a 20 minute walk (or even run a bit!) outdoors or walk 20 minutes on the treadmill every day. Nothing strenuous or annoying.
    I too weigh myself every day and write that number down along with my blood sugar numbers. It's a great way to see my progress and keep me on track. Of course having great numbers is rewarding but so is having a closet full of new clothes that I actually feel good in and love wearing.
    My husband was also diagnosed with a really nasty cancer last year at this time, so stress is not absent from my life, but that hasn't side-tracked me. I have to stay healthy for myself and him so going back to my old habits is not an option!
    I really think lowering "bad" carb intake is extremely important for good health and weight loss. It certainly has worked for me!
    Don't make the mistake I did of eating poorly, becoming overweight and getting diabetes! It can easily cause numerous health problems and is preventable!

      Big congratulations 🎉🎊 I’m 66 and was diagnosed with pre diabetes- I have gone plant-based and like you no sugar, flour or processed foods. I’ve lost 10
      Kgs and feel so much better. I think it’s so good we’re working for our health

    My endocrinologist has told me that because I carry weight in my (apple) stomach, weight loss is very hard. She thinks 2 pounds a month is realistic. We set older women up for failure when we say they should lose five-to-ten-pounds a month.

    I’m glad you are amble to get out for your walks! Hu by and I go to the gym, but he likes to take breaks and I know that’s not good for me. In October I started doing the Tracy Anderson Method , it’s just 30 min I can do in the am, and still go to the gym later. We took a most of December break and I’m seeing my body change in ways just going to the gym doesn’t and it’s no impact ( I don’t like the cardio portion, but will do it occasionally). I’m baking the 90’s using a portable dvd payer and dvds, but this is really working for me! We all have to find that. I’m even doing videos on it, because there aren’t that many out there. Praying for your family!

    This was such a great video, I was just scrolling and came across your video. Just yesterday I had a doctors appointment at which time found out my blood pressure was too high, I now have to take my pressure 3 times a day until my follow up appointment.     I have been questioning my emotional eating more and more and I thank/blame you for that, lol. Losing the weight I must say really is a little mind blowing at times, after having been overweight for most of my adult life it just messes with me a bit as I am losing.     Intermittent fasting really took the weight off me. It can be hard to do at first, however. And, you don't want to starve yourself every day. My doctor told me to only do it maybe 2 to 3 days/week (not consecutive days) and to drink a pea-protein drink maybe 1x/day while I do it.(You don't want to throw the body into starvation mode; then you'll stop losing weight if you do.) Then, eat a normal dinner. Can't believe how well it's worked.

    Hi Cathy, I am a new subscriber, and I am interested in this approach your are doing for weight loss. I have to eat gluten-free and low FODMAP. There are many fruits and vegetables that I can not eat, and sadly Onions and Garlic are two of the foods that I cannot eat. I will figure this out, but I am learning a lot from your videos, so thank you for that.

    So much great advice here! You’re so right about recognizing when you make bad choices that you can then go down a rabbit hole of more bad choices. I’ve done a bit of that in the last week and I do know better, but I’m recognizing that it’s never too late to stop and turn things around. Thanks to your videos I’m also doing some soul searching as to why I reach for candy to push down feelings, and I’ve been applying the tactic of “if I still want it tomorrow I’ll have it”…..and I typically don’t want it by then. I appreciate your videos and insights. I’m learning so much. Thank you 😊

    Loving these tips. I can relate to all of them. I will be 70 in a few months and I am more sedentary than before and eat “junk” food more than meals. My husband seems to sabotage my healthy eating. He thinks I can eat just “one” REALLY??? I CANT do that. I’m gonna save this video where I can watch it frequently. Thanks for being “you”

    I have developed an autoimmune disease post Covid. I was on steroids and other meds that resulted in 35 lbs of added weight and I am really struggling with getting this under control. Thank you so much for sharing your level headed approach to weight loss and your own struggles.

    I found your clothing videos when getting ready for a big trip. I’ve gained weight - but wanted to look nice. Thanks for your insights to dressing when your body isn’t a size 10! I’ve really enjoyed your videos on your weight loss. I’m tired of programs I have to pay for without much success ! Bad will power on my part! Please include more about what specifically you EAT in this weight loss program.
