Please don’t change! Your podcast is perfect. I’m really sick of the carbon copied knitting accounts I’ve been seeing, that use the same script, loads of overly enthusiastic words and the same old patterns and yarns 🫠. You’re a breath of fresh air 😊
Love the adult Loddon Sweater, especially that neckline. Perfect for me...looking forward to the pattern release. The Stamford is gorgeous too, and looks really lovely on you. I like a hem that's cinched in a bit, I find it quite flattering.
Don't change a thing about your podcast. You are so genuine, unlike so many others that seem heavily scripted. I look forward to trying some of your patterns. I will be looking for the pattern for the slipover that you wore in this video. None of the sweaters look too hard to do for this newbie knitter, yet they are so beautiful.
Watching from the US in the very warm state of FL. I really love all of your knitting and your passion for your patterns. I'm wanting to cast on just about everything you talked about - now to plan trips somewhere cool so I can wear them, LOL. Please don't apologize for anything in your videos - you are sharing your passion and should be excited about it and your patterns are truly inspiring. I feel like people who complain about things in knitting podcasts are not really here for the knitting content and it's too much pressure on you podcasters to try to be "perfect" - nobody should expect that of you or anyone else. P.S. Just became a grandparent so I"m very excited about the baby knits!! ☺
So enjoying your podcast! You’ve got beautiful designs! Also, if people complain about your talking speed, they can find something else to watch-or something else constructive to do. You’re doing great!! Keep up the great work!!
The Conwy sweater is exactly what I was searching for all Winter! I'm in Australia, so I will be waiting for the jumper version so I can make it for next Winter. It is perfection! Oh, and don't change the way you do things - I like to get caught up in the excitement too.
Lovely podcast thank you. When you put on your fiancés green sweater wow your eyes just popped it’s definately your colour! I love a good mood board too, I think it helps to see all your ideas together. Love the vest too, such a nice style with the cable down the front, I’m going to be making one for sure!
Such a lovely podcast! I love your fizzy brain and its outputs :) Your passion for your craft is amazing. Don't change!!!! (just like everyone else said). I'm also a member of the dead dad club, and it's also our ten year anniversary this year. You're not alone
Love this podcast. Great to hear your ideas and design process. Appreciate seeing so many British yarns being used 👍Don’t change your style of filming- you’re great as you are. Take care.
Just discovered your podcast - I loved it! Great aesthetics, and technical chat, and the rambling wasn't rambly and just right. Looking forward to the next one! Thank you from across the Solent ☺
I second (or third?😅) the two comments below! You do you, and we are fortunate to come along on whatever you choose to share from your journey! Thank you for a great podcast and for being good company whilst I knit🥰🧶
I saw the thumbnail and had to click, I have such a similar taste in colors and designs as you (blue and neutrals for the win)! I will definitely be following your podcast from now on :)
I find you to be so charming and enjoyable to watch! Plus, my ideal wardrobe would be all blues and greige - very similar to yours. Just wanted to send some encouragement to keep going with the videos! I am excited to keep watching
For your second video, I have to say you really gave us a lot to think about. Don’t worry about your delivery, it’s part of who you are and that should be taken as a given. I like your “swatch board”, and showing the samples is helpful in providing a flavour of what can be achieved within the detail of the garment and help people make a decision about actually casting on and/or purchasing yarn. And now I am rambling! So I will end there and say I have enjoyed this video and will look forward to your next one.
Really enjoying your videos! And I can hardly wait for the Stamford sweater, I've been considering the Zipper sweater but not keen on the zipper, and I feel like your design is absolutely perfect with those toggle buttons :D
Thanks for your lovely podcast. Great to share your enthusiasm 😊. Love your patterns and your yarn info. Looking forward to seeing you next month 🌞 Annie
So glad your podcast appeared in my feed! You are as charming as your knits. I have knitted two Aosta sweaters for my grand daughters (2yrs and 4 yrs). They both turned out wonderful as the pattern was easy to follow and the directions were very clear. I plan to make another for each of them in a larger size.
I love knitting podcasts, you did great!! I really appreciate you talking about why you chose certain yarn/colors and what you want to achieve with them.
I’m so enjoying everything about your videos! I’m in love with your sweater patterns ❤ I’ve knitted 2 Sempers and a Marlow! I’m currently using your free pattern Haze to teach a colour work sweater class! And I’m really looking forward to your new patterns especially the Stanford!
Ah thank you so much! I really appreciate it. If there's ever anything I can help with for the knitting classes, just drop me an email :) Thanks for watching! xxx
Love this! Your enthusiasm and love for wool is amazing ❤ - totally get the fizzy brain when too many ideas are swirling around in the thoughts! Just struggled with this yesterday - so I guess I gonna try the drawing board idea today ☺️🎉
I too, have been scheming about a buttoned raglan, or just generally a side-buttoned sweater. It reminds me of the lovely collar detailing on chongsam dresses. Would love to try to test knit for that somehow! Really enjoying your podcast so far, looking forward to more!
Sorry for the slow reply! Yes, chongsam dresses are so beautiful! I think the button-up detail is a nice way to add a little bit of something *extra*, but it isn't too faffy to knit. The best of all worlds! Thanks for watching :) xxx
Thank you for such a wonderful podcast ❤I’m going to try the baby knits . 🧶 you are so inspiring. Thank you for taking the time to share all your wonderful knitwear
Thanks so much for such a meaty, informative podcast, I really enjoyed it. Don't apologise for anything, you don't ramble or speak to fast, I'd still love the podcast if you did! Love your ideas board, I totally get what you mean by fizzy brain....,It's as if each idea is encased in a bubble and once it pops the idea is gone so it needs to be brought to earth or grounded via a drawing or what not..... my turn to apologise for rambling :). Have a fabulous day, greetings from Australia.
I had quite decided that I wasn't going to subscribe to any more knitting podcasts because, quite frankly, a lot of them are really boring. Many are not obviously and I definitely have my favourites, but you are just great. I love what you do, how you present, and your sheer love and enthusiasm for it all. Don't change a thing!
Ah thank you so much! That really made my day reading that. For what it's worth, I reckon I'll only be able to manage one episode every 6 weeks or so, so I won't be clogging up your feed too much haha! Hope you have a lovely weekend and thanks for watching xxx
Love your projects 😍 I really have my eye on some of them. I wish my arm and wrist could handle more knitting per day than they do now. And I know your patterns are a safe bet. So my wishlist keeps getting longer and longer. Don't worry about the speed of your speech, we can still slow it down in the setting. I have to do it for Creabea, so it's no big deal (imo) 😂
As a very non-visual person I'm always super intrigued how well boards / visualisation works for other people, so thanks for giving us a peek into your brain! I'm loving the idea of your sweater with the buttons on the raglan line, and very excited about the Stamford sweater. When you teased it on Instagram, I was wondering if the royal blue was related to Chelsea (:
(sorry for the slow reply!) Yes, it's so interesting how our thought processes all differ so much. I just find I can't hold all the ideas in my head without some way to quickly write them down, and I get on better with pens/paper/boards than I do iPads etc (which is cheaper at least haha!). Always got to get a Chelsea reference in when I can ;) Thanks for watching and hope you're having a lovely weekend! xxx
Thank you! That pattern isn't available just yet but it's about to go into test knitting. The test call is open until tomorrow (29 September), and there's a link on my latest community post if you fancy it xxx
Love your videos. Don’t stress re speed of talking. Love the Henley sweater. And the cream blue with stripes on lower half. Do you have approximate meterage for the main?
Thank you so much! Yes, I estimate that you'd need: 1,000 (1,050) 1,110 (1,150), 1,275 (1,300) 1,375 (1,425), 1,575 (1,700) 1,850 (1,975) m [1,095 (1,150) 1,215 (1,260), 1,400 (1,425) 1,505 (1,560), 1,725 (1,860) 2,025 (2,160) yds] of the main colour And: 160 (165) 175 (180), 200 (205) 210 (220), 245 (265) 285 (300) m [175 (180) 195 (200), 220 (225) 230 (240), 270 (290) 315 (330) yds] of the contrast colour. The pattern's due to be released in about a month's time :) Thanks for watching! xxx
I didn't find you talk too fast, though I know you're now self-conscious about it. Remember that UA-cam has given viewers the power to slow videos down, so you just be you. I love hearing more about the design process
I am exactly the same as you with knitting diaries and journals 😂 Don't worry about speaking too fast! Anyone watching can adjust the playback speed in the video settings to make it slower or faster, so it's easy to make it work for different people.
Sophie, happy to watch your podcasts ❤ I have a lot of respect and admiration to your work and designs! I have a hard time understanding why people can leave a comment about your speed of talking 😅 Asking to slow down your way of speaking is just so hard and unnatural to do, what’s next, asking to breath less? Hi I am looking to watching you, I am in New Zealand and currently knit basic baby items for charity. I now have decided to try knitting for myself I wonder if you have any suggestions
Hi! Sorry for the slow reply! That's such a lovely way to knit. I would recommend starting with a pattern that has a construction method you're used to. If you usually knit top-down raglans for your baby knits, for example, find a similar adult pattern and go from there. Personally, I really like recommending PetiteKnit patterns to newer knitters as there are lots of choices and they're easy to follow, plus you know the grading will be very good.
I really like your podcast style, there is just one tiny little thing that maybe you could improve: the camera is constantly zooming in and out, trying to focus. 😃
Rather than try and talk slower, you could suggest to people who think you talk too fast (you don't!) that they can play the video at 75%? Then they have the gift of knowledge to make yt a better place for them and you can relax and just be you. Music sounds weird when sped up or slowed down but people sound fine for small adjustments and you get used to it for bigger adjustments if that's a thing one wants. There are several popular podcasters who have very soothing presentations and if I don't speed them up to 1.5% speed I get bored and start doing something else at the same time and realise I didn't pay attention o anything they said. Tell everyone I have ADHD without telling everyone... Speaking of ADHD your fizzy brain comment sounds so familiar. Except if I were to draw out (or write down) my ideas, I'd forget to look at them again and they'd just be gone. Oops. Thank you for podcasting, I really enjoyed watching :-)
Please don’t change! Your podcast is perfect. I’m really sick of the carbon copied knitting accounts I’ve been seeing, that use the same script, loads of overly enthusiastic words and the same old patterns and yarns 🫠.

I second this!

I don't think you talk too fast. Works for me (and I'm swedish). Love your accent and your patterns! Keeping my eyes open for test calls 😊😅
Aw thank you so much! I really appreciate your kindness xxx
The Loddon Sweater for adults is amazing. We need the pattern 😊❤
Perfect podcast…..love your designs and I have some needed baby knits coming up! 8-)

Just discovered your podcast - I loved it! Great aesthetics, and technical chat, and the rambling wasn't rambly and just right. Looking forward to the next one! Thank you from across the Solent ☺
Sound is great! I feel like you don’t need to qualify how much, nor how fast you knit. Present what you have designed with pride and confidence. 😘😘

So in love with the Stamford sweater! I hope to knit it when it is released in a green.
Love your channel! From now on, I will not be referring to yarns as itchy but instead as sheepy. ❤
Haha love it!! 🐑
I find you to be so charming and enjoyable to watch! Plus, my ideal wardrobe would be all blues and greige - very similar to yours. Just wanted to send some encouragement to keep going with the videos! I am excited to keep watching

@@the_knit_purl_girl thanks so much! I’m eagerly waiting for the test call for the Stamford sweater!💕
Loved the podcast, also love the slipped stitch dropshoulder sweater, would love to see you make a pattern for it!
I enjoyed this heaps, looking forward to more videos!!
I enjoyed your podcast. Its nice to hear about your knitting and designs you are working on.
Ow that henly collar❤ i am here for it. Sofie dont change anything about the podcast i love it

Your aesthetic is beautiful! Very inspiring and I can’t wait for the patterns to be released ❤
So interesting to see where the designs were born or what inspired them! I didn’t see any lost of momentum only you really excited about your work
I’m watching this while working on my Sennen test!! I love it and I’m so excited to have it in my wardrobe soon 🖤💜
I too, have been scheming about a buttoned raglan, or just generally a side-buttoned sweater. It reminds me of the lovely collar detailing on chongsam dresses.

There are multiple of your designs I want to knit.
Thank you!
Sophie, you don’t speak fast at all. If people want to hear you slower they can change the speed in settings!
As a very non-visual person I'm always super intrigued how well boards / visualisation works for other people, so thanks for giving us a peek into your brain! Love your delivery and sweaters! Can you please tell me how to find the conwy slipover pattern you were wearing? It’s so beautiful.
Yes, I estimate that you'd need:
1,000 (1,050) 1,110 (1,150), 1,275 (1,300) 1,375 (1,425), 1,575 (1,700) 1,850 (1,975) m [1,095 (1,150) 1,215 (1,260), 1,400 (1,425) 1,505 (1,560), 1,725 (1,860) 2,025 (2,160) yds] of the main colour
And:
160 (165) 175 (180), 200 (205) 210 (220), 245 (265) 285 (300) m [175 (180) 195 (200), 220 (225) 230 (240), 270 (290) 315 (330) yds] of the contrast colour.
The pattern's due to be released in about a month's time :)
Thanks for watching! xxx
Wonder who would love a garment in Red Squirrel.......
Hmmmmmmm! ;)
I didn't find you talk too fast, though I know you're now self-conscious about it. Remember that UA-cam has given viewers the power to slow videos down, so you just be you. I love hearing more about the design process
Please write up this fab vest pattern, its just what I've been looking for.
I am exactly the same as you with knitting diaries and journals 😂
Don't worry about speaking too fast! Anyone watching can adjust the playback speed in the video settings to make it slower or faster, so it's easy to make it work for different people.
So glad it isn't just me!! Thanks so much for your kindness xxx
I find that asking any kind of creator to adjust to their own preference is a narcissistic way to engage with a content.
P.s. as a not a native speaker, i find it easy to understand you.
Hi! I’m not sure if I am understanding the yarn weights you are using. Do you think you might add the words: fingering, sport, etc…?
I especially liked the cream sweater with mid blue stripes/design and I was wondering about that yarn weight.
Ah sorry! I think I used a lot of Britishisms here. 4-ply is more or less fingering weight.
Sounds great! What mic did you get? I need to get one too
Sorry for the slow reply! I went with the Røde VideoMike Go II (www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/B09MRLGL7G/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_asin_title_o04_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1). It's not too expensive either; I'm using the Amazon pay-monthly option and I think it's only about £17 for 5 months IIRC. It's very easy to use, too!

Aaaah thank you so much for this! That's so helpful (and makes a lot of sense given where RiverKnits are based). I really appreciate it!
And that last part of you comment made me properly giggle haha! Thanks so much for watching xxx
i wouldnt worry about talking too fast.. if you are talking too fast for someones preference they can always slow down the speed of the video :)
1. Talk fast
2. Knit a lot
3. Don’t apologize
Great rules to live by!!
