The 2004 to 2015 set was, without any doubt, the best in the channel's history. I'd go as far to say that they may be the best idents ever created in the entire world. Yes, that good. However, they did have some negative impact. When you hit the top, the only way is down. And by 2015, despite how brilliant the set was, it did feel like something fresh needed to emerge. But how do you follow some of the best idents of all time? Well, I feel that Channel 4 may be now going through the same process that BBC Two did after they decommissioned their 90's set. What follows is something similar, not as good. BBC Two have ended up running out of ideas and just submitting to the fact that they'll never better the 2's. The creativity in the current set and the previous short lived set is admirable, but I feel that they stand in the shadow of the 2004 set and are struggling to find a wholly new way of identifying the channel.
Utterly brilliant idents, my absolute favourite. I remember seeing one with pigeons that I actually laughed out loud at the first time I saw it. Great review!
These idents are just as recognisable as a cup of tea in the United Kingdom! This is one of the first ident reviews ever from your channel, and the series live on forever!
These 2004 idents have some if not the best soundtrack in the history of idents The non ident presentation like the bumpers telling what’s next to air So all in all I love these
these idents were Channel 4's best even though I like the new ones (which I stated in my video on my channel). WOuld it be possible to do some of the 1997 channel 5 idents such as the gold logo spinning one, the lift ident, the train station ident and the one with the women in a dark room. Also you are right for channel 4 being innovative as after 1982 over stations jumped onto the objects flying through space bandwagen and did it well. I though came up with a theory that after 1997 channel 5 were then the influence on the tv ident as such as the use of celebrities in their idents in 1999 before itv 1 released their batch in 2002 and the increase in use in live action which ITV and then the BBC took on further in later years. There is a in depth video about this in the link below: ua-cam.com/video/m0yLJD2wN1M/v-deo.html Maybe we should have a youtube live debate where three of us argue different cases for who influenced the future of the ident for example me for c5, you for c4 and another guest for bbc2
Lol @ flats. The people that lived in those flats complained. Apparently they sprayed graffiti, put up satellite dishes , made it wet and put up washing lines. Flats have neither dishes nor washing lines up ad they aren’t allowed either
Realli miss these idents. It felt real, not fake or dramatised like the flats ident, the ones they have now and on E4 have lost their realistic feel and don't feel the same. What about reacting to the T4 idents and the era the show was aired through!
These idents covered my life from birth to primary school. Forget any circles or bbc two personality idents, these are the idents I remember most, especially pylons.
Great seeing the old IBA testcard! I remember the opening of this channel, and the promos shown before the opening. Do you by any chance have a recording of the promos?

97channel Yes it was.
Same thing with the Balloon.
I remember flats the most and thinking 🤔 how do people get tv when there are satellite dishes on the 4
They have dishes on their houses and the ones on the 4 are just spares.
It’s a conspiracy theory....nobody knows how.........
And Tokyo how do they get their electric
@@Foxdecai 😆
These ones are without a doubt the best ones. I always loved that junkyard one and the bales of straw
Utterly brilliant idents, my absolute favourite. I remember seeing one with pigeons that I actually laughed out loud at the first time I saw it. Great review!
These are some of the most recognisable and iconic idents in the uk
Oh yes! The old ITV1 idents were so iconic as well
Adam your Ident Review videos were amazing as a young 11 year old and it feels so good to be back here! Continue making great content mate 👏👏✨️
I like that they brought fourscore back. :)
The most relaxing 4 ident in my opinion is the rocks in the water.
This is the one I grew up with. Deal or no deal and the big bang theory were there for me when I needed them.

Didn't the "Flats" ident cause some controversy from the residents of the location where the ident was shot?
Where was it shot?
Darlington I think
Brompton, near Chatham/Gillingham
These 2004 idents have some if not the best soundtrack in the history of idents
The non ident presentation like the bumpers telling what’s next to air
So all in all I love these
These are nostalgic

I loved the flats one, reminds me of home as it was shot at the Heygate estate in Elephant and Castle which was a 10 minute walk from me
Ah, I’d always thought it was shot in Peckham/North Peckham Estate, near Sumner Road...

I think the recent E4 idents put out 4 years ago are ok but a bit too flashy
It does reflect sort of the geeky audience that E4 caters to though
These idents covered my life from birth to primary school.

I want the old channel 4 back
I distinctly remember these appearing after 2015.
Tuxified Art Think was maybe just Blackpool
@@whatadon1 I distinctly remember it being a few of them, but possibly.
This set is what Window to the World tried to be.
Your old school news reader voice is on point 😂
Can you do the unused 1991 Ident on Channel 4 after the ITV one?
Great seeing the old IBA testcard! I remember the opening of this channel, and the promos shown before the opening. Do you by any chance have a recording of the promos?
The first advert was for TDK tapes. I remember it well.
The flats one always looked....
Chavvy.
How?!
You should review the 2015 idents!
We’re those 3 idents shown before The Simpsons?
Pylons was my favorite out of all of them :D
There is a version of flats where everything is normal and without the 4
You forgot all of the idents!
0:24, 0:49, 0:52 where did you find those idents?
Ident Gallery Or TV Ark most likley
Back when Adam Martyn was good
Tell me who else paused the video to look at the 4?
You forgot rollercoaster!
Do 2015 Idents
I'm in
I'm not a Channel 4 fan don't get me wrong I like Channel 4 but I'm not a fan
Still watching old stuff today
I think that was pretty lackful
