Thomas Hampson sings the beautiful baritone aria from Korngold's "Die tote Stadt." Fact: This was Hampson's winning piece for the 1981 Metropolitan Opera National Council Auditions.

Marvelous here. There's a live version where he struggles on what must have been a bad night. Together, these show the great heart that goes along with vocal gifts.
