Brand new 2023 unit and only one speaker was working. Now they all work after this change. Thanks for the video as now I can enjoy the radio driving down the road.
Great video! Thank you for sharing! Apparently, Mercedes has know about this nagging problem for a while and finally came up with an easy fix. They call it Mercedes-Benz Technical Service Bulletin (TSB) LI82.85-N-071147, Version 6, which came out in July of 2022, I think. So after your excellent video and fix. I like your fix, but look into this official fix from Mercedes and I think you will find that it makes the center speaker less dominants, but it still functions.
This works, thank you! If you want to turn off the center speaker, unplug the purple/ grey plug like in the video. If you want all 3 speakers (door and dash speaker) to work, only unplug the purple/ green plug.
If you want to fix this properly, you have to swap the Purple and White wire with Green and White wire. This is a bit more complicated, but once complete the center speaker is connected as it should be. I just did this fix and it only took about 10 minutes.
Sorry, but that isn't the correct fix of the problem. The speaker has two inlets with different tone output levels, one tone level for music and one level for the emergency system (which should be the one with the highest tone level). The two cables to the speaker must be interchanged, as they are misplaced by MB unfortunately you need to swap the connectors at the wires, as they are different.
It’s not right way to fix the problem, it’s working but MB fix this too change the wires from the outher contact. Every loudspeaker sounds well after this. Operatin is move the connector pin from each contact.
The fix in this video is quite good. I think the fix according to Mercedes-Benz TSB LI82.85-N-071147 Version 6 is to swap the wires between the black and white speaker plugs. There are various UA-cam videos about how to do this. I think one set of wires is for the sound system and the other is for the emergency system. One pair of wires supplies lower ohms than the other. When the wiring harnesses were made, apparently the wires were swapped and the harnesses were incorrect. Swapping the two sets of wires fixes the problem makes the center speaker much less dominants. Again, there are a lot of UA-cam videos out there showing how do do this with minimal tools. It's easy.
Not worth the bother in a long term rental. The lease company simply weren't interested and suggested to "go in to settings" (waste of time😡😡😡). Unless it had broken down or crashed they couldn't have cared less and certainly weren't going to magic up a spare van while mine was in the dealership.

Same. Makes me wonder what else is jacked up.

Great post now I can actually listen to the Sprinter sound. Thank you
Thank you very much

Hi Joachim, waht do you exactly mean? The connecters on this speaker?
@@henkduit4225 Change place between green and purple cables, its helps better and software update from MB if necessary.
@@Jockeflyg Ok thanks!
My 2021 Sprinter didn't have this problem weirdly. EU Spec if that's different
Is this also working for a MB 2019? Thanks!
Just reconnected the middel speaker and it really improves a lot. Thanks for this hack!
So you couldn't go to a MB dealership and get the software update, to fix this problem?
there is a known software update for this? People with brand new rigs are saying it's a problem still.
