[Vancouver] Fire Dept WILDLANDS Trucks Lights & Siren Collection!

Captured here is a collection of the Vancouver Fire & Rescue Sevices' old 'Wildlands' units responding to various emergency calls. These trucks (2002 Ford F-550XL 4x4) are designed to fight brush or wildfires but have been primarily used as medical first responder units whenever they are not needed to respond to burning vegetation. All of the units seen in this video (Wildlands 7, 17, and 22) have now been retired and replaced with brand-new units, which I hope to capture and share with you soon!

Yea, they were one of the last remnants of the early 2000s and will be missed. But who knows, maybe they’ll pop up again as spare rescue units here and there.

Thank you my friend! Unfortunately they are retired now, so likely no more new catches (unless they get used as spares), but luckily I still have a few clips in storage 😄

I’m just guessing but maybe they were sold to smaller rural departments. Those rigs are in really nice shape, I’ll bet they many more years of service in them.

2 of the old units are currently up in Kelowna, helping with wildfires

Some of them may be kept as spare units, I am not sure what the official plans are now that they are retired. The last time I saw them was when two of them were sent to southern British Columbia to help fight wildfires.

I'm gonna spam-rewatch this video a lot in the future, not because of the Wildlands units, but rather, because of the tones for that call Engine 2 got at the end 😆
Jokes aside, awesome video! It's hard to imagine these units that have been with us for over 20 years are gone now. That WL7 catch at 0:33 in particular brings back memories, a great end to a great day of filming! Sometimes I wonder if we'll be able to make as many memories like this with the newer generation of trucks.

Great collection of clips! I loved the enthusiastic bystanders in the first clip, and the helpful flaggers in the second. Too bad they retired, but it's fun to have new units to keep an eye out for as well.
