- Fluval FX6 Canister filter on saltwater aquarium with sump is AWESOME! I finally added a fluvial fx6 canister filter to my saltwater aquarium, along with the sump. I may use 2 fluvial fx6 canister filters connected to the overflow under the aquarium and remove the sump. I'm very happy with how the fluvial fx6 canister is working! My aquarium water is cleaner and more polished. Saltwater aquarium care and maintenance videos by rotter tube reef.

My First Saltwater tank 8 years ago had a canister filter only. It worked, but my tank & reefkeeping skills were so basic then , that I can't say to what degree it worked. Trying it again on a nano, has crossed my mind.
I just want to say thank you for the ich/velvet video. I followed your guidance and cured Velvet in my tank. Now I have 3 tanks (main display, fish quarantine tank, coral quarantine tank) . I only dose Cupramine in fish quarantine tank for new fish for 2 months. Corals must go through coral quarantine tank for 2 months with no fish in it (no cupramine of course). After 2 month, then both can go to main display tank. Once again, thank you so much from Vietnam.
You are so welcome! YOU'RE A PRO!
Thank you, thank you, thank you!!!!!! I am converting a 90gal Discus tank to a Saltwater Soft Coral reef tank. I was going nuts thinking about drilling it and putting a sump, spending a ton of money. Ive had an FX4 that i didnt know what to do with and you know what, your video made me change my mind. Im sticking with my FX4, maybe buy another one and just doong canister. THANK YOU!!!!!!!
you're welcome! I didn't see anyone making this video so I made one. how will you add the canister? through the bottom? drilling the tank?
I have 2 fx6 on my 180 plumbed the exact same way on both side of the overflows,
Fish only tank. It’s amazing
that's great! I'm really loving it! NO NOISE, NO SPLASHING, NO SALT CREEP.
i do the same thing and i love it
with a sump as well?
I just got a 125gal tank with a sump which I have never used always had my fx6 that I was hoping to use on my 125 and was wondering if I can do exactly what you did glad I came across your video! Won’t be doing saltwater will have freshwater since that’s what I have right now but I’m glad I still found this video!
Also what size tubing pvc and bulkhead did you get and did you change the return side as well?
Also what size tubing pvc and bulkhead did you get and did you change the return side as well?
3/4" bulk head from Home Depot - they are great! 3/4" surgical tubing from BRS - I love it but it's almost too flexible (kinks.) I did nothing at all for the return side.
@@ROTTERtube thank you for the respond I know I commented on another of your videos that I couldn’t find the tube do you think braided or the clear one would work?
what, this is crazy, I never seen anything like that.
IF works its much better than any overflow boxes
I bought the stuff but couldn’t find the silicone flexible tube 😫 anyone have the link for the tubing?
It's at BRS.
I cant wait for the video when you have to clean that thing LOL
I used it before for a few months. Not bad at all. Watch for the video. No more crap in the sump gathering or in the overflows.
Here it is.....ua-cam.com/video/36dXsHpVfcQ/v-deo.html
@@ROTTERtube i thought it would be alot worse...not bad...for a fish only tank/LPS tank it would work nicely. SPS tanks will be tricky though not being able to run a protein skimmer and dosing the tank would be alot more complicated not having a sump. thanks for the update!
@@drugmonkeyrx7965 You are right on the SPS front I believe. It has been harder to control the nitrates...I can always sugar dose to keep them in check. I am missing my sump a bit, but if I get another one I will either get something without having to DIY, OR run one canister and my other sump like I did.
@@ROTTERtube that would be ideal i think, than you can add a PS and dose whatever you like as well with more ease. Looking forward to seeing how the tank is doing especially the corals you added.
Mine just sucks out of the overflow. No skimmer. They are an absolute PITA.
Why is your's a PITA? Looking forward to less salt creep, no sump, no messy overflow or sump.
@ROTTERtube I don't have auto top off yet. As my tank evaporates, it stops functioning properly.
@@kengilmore4384 I never had auto top off units. Something else to fail. I like it simple. I just check it every day or every other.
I use two fx6 on my 150 works great
@@gspumpkinsandmore5866 How often do you clean them?
