    This is amazing! Di and Sheila's knowledge is absolutely fantastic. It would be great to have some close up photos of the gansey and of the details that they are discussing - buttoned neck, gusset, the patterns and cables used.

    Thanks for posting. I’m curious about the knitted garments worn by woman involved in the herring industry. Many of them appear to wear a similar dark wool ribbed knitted bodice. Are there any in the collection that I can see or any information about these knitted garments.

      Hi Lily, thanks for your question. We don't have any of these specific garments in our collection but a good source of information would be Liz Lovick, a knitter based in Orkney.
