  • Soundcheck #6 as my Restring record of Acoustic Guitar. The sound of both strings was recorded in the similar miking condition.
D'Addario XTAPB1253 strings - Touch feeling is close to non-coated strings than XS, but XS is smoother.
XT seems to have wider frequency response than XS. The natural compression effect is add on a little bit because of coating. However XS has more this effect.
I guess XT coating is thinner than XS. So the charcteristic of XT would be between non-coated EJ16 and XS in terms of the sound and the feel, in my opinion.
I'm curious how long the strings life continue.
Anyway I like both XT and XS strings. I will use then depending on the purpose.
D'Addario XTAPB1253, Phosphor Bronze Light Gauge
    Guitar | Ibanez ACFS580CE
    Mic | audio-technica AT2020 USB+
    Pick | Dunlop .73mm
Dry Sound (without EQ and Effect)

D'Addario XT seems to be the best for my taste and way of playing.

I didn't know the XT strings were the same as the EXP! Just found that out! After they discontinued the EXPs i've been using the Elixir Polyweb strings because to my ears they have that da'ddario woody tone. I might give the XTs a shot!

What I Hear in the different layers of colours and flavors. I prefer the non coated phosphor bronze strings.

I still go with the uncoated D'Addario's . Very slightly brighter and just a little longer sustain. I go with EJ-26 custom lights .011-.052. Very subjective.

D'Addario XT is the best for my taste. A comparison with D'Addario Nickel Bronce would be interesting.

Appreciate the video, but with a different video/record setup for every string change, it’s really hard to get much out of the comparison.
It would be good to hear your thoughts from listening ‘in the room’.
      Thanks

@@markoshun Thank you for your comments. I agree with you. Even I recorded on same day, it is not perfect since my playing would be not the perfectly same too.
In this imperfect condition, I put the microphone and the chair at the same position, use the same pick every time when I do this soundcheck recording. Though I recognize it is not perfect recording, it is helpful for me to choose the string and remember the impression.(I wrote my impression on the description of this video.)

      Thanks for your question.
IMO, if you want longer durability, Elixir is good choice. If better tone with shorter string life than Elixir, I recommend D'addario XS.

Of course strings won't make you a better player BUT that's hardly the point is it? Every guitarist has gotta change strings and the more you play the quicker they wear out, so given you have to buy X amount of packets in your lifetime and theres a million to try, these videos help you save money and more chance of getting the string you want.
There's nothing like the feeling of chords ringing out when the instrument and strings are in tune in terms of string choice, string gauge, obviously with intonation and setup are very important, but string choice makes a lot more difference on acoustic in terms of the affect that string tension plays on the top tension of the guitar and consequent sound - like tightening or loosening a drum. Which may be desirable or undesirable depending on the timber and bracing of the guitar or your preferences...
There's actually a lot to it and it does make a difference including to feel and playability. For years I just put whatever strings on the guitar and worked my way through a fair amount just by trying different things every time the guitar needed restringing. Now I've got some favourites, considering durability, cost and availability and also know the properties and differences of the strings, its much easier to suit and rotate the strings with different guitars that have different tonal characters.
Anyway. My 2 cents. Useful comparison video i reckon!
