I would point out that the Bren Light Machine Gun only lasted as long as it did was because the gun that should have replaced it, the TADEN was killed off by political interference

Was the L4 Bren LMG left out because it was post war?

The only difference was that it fired 7.62 NATO.

@@DokutahShikikan Yeah even though the L4 Bren as we know it was never supposed to be converted to 7.62mm in the first place since as we know the Bren was supposed to be replaced by the TADEN Light Machine Gun and its 7mm cartridge however wasn't thanks to political interference and American denial that the 7.62mm was too powerful despite data form WW2 saying what the US Ordnance Department did not want to accept
Realistically some of the Bren LMG would have been converted as a stop-gap while the Taden LMG is further developed to iron out any bugs and get production up and running but I suspect given the huge surplus, retiring the Bren will probably take a while to do
