The musician was high, he was trying to blow a shoe horn. I swear, watching this show gives me a panic attack when they're giving answers and mine doesn't come up 😆
On the audience match when there is already a great answer, Charles will come up with a funny answer because he knows his is not going to get chosen anyway .
I agree with Caseyy Arnold and Charles, and if you look everybody else agrees with him to 10 "Thumbs Up" I love this show I watched it back in the 70's and watch it everyday, to flashback on thoses days.
I know 70's chicks are gorgeous if this show is the example...SO many contestants are knock outs...but on the seedy side...the people behind the scenes were pervs probably sleeping with whomever they could to 'advance' their careers lol so on that side it's obvious 'lol'
@DJ Ritty Hey, DJ, what exactly is obvious? To the 70's audience the suggestive questions were entertaining. No 'pervs' lurking backstage. I had a career and didn't sleep with anyone to 'advance' it. Perhaps you would be wise to rethink your 'seedy' presumptions before attacking someone's character?
Hurbert blank I instantly said Hoover contested had mental block Fannie said Hoover feeling sorry for contestant I said damn, perked up when I realized I made a funny -- Hoover Dam.
That Terri was on many episodes and only won 2600 dollars. Not a very smart player. She only kept winning because the other contestants were worse than she was.

Charles I wonder if that is where JKR got the idea for the screaming ball in Harry Potter! ;0) I think you told that joke before Charles.. ;0) Another no goodbye before ending credits, I guessing this is what GSN did not MGP.. Thank you.
THIS episode is a perfect representation of why so many found Brett Somers so annoying. She just prattles on and on, slowing the pace of the game to a crawl. It's as if she thinks they're playing the game in her living room and not in a TV studio.
Charles Nelson Reilly famously said MG is not just a TV show, it's a social occasion. That's exactly what separated it from the pack and made it more than your average ok-but-bland game show....the interaction between the "main characters" is what kept people tuning in. Without Brett, they'd lose half the laughs, because so many were at her expense. She was a necessary love/hate element. MG without Brett is like Peanuts without Lucy.
@@todddepue681 I've said in other comments that Somers is certainly a likable person. She would've made a fun neighbor to have a laugh with. And I get that MG *was* a more laid back show, which many people enjoyed. But, as a panelist, I thought Somers was inadequate and brought nothing to the table. Likeable? Yes. The butt of jokes? Yes. Competent? No.
Don't find her annoying. Although I understand why some might, if they only watched a few episodes and not hundreds, or even thousands. The back and forth joking and banter with Charles was one of the reasons this show was so successful, not to mention her picking on Fannie,Joyce,Betty etc. But she could also take it like a champ when they picked on her.
@@proud_brettsomersfanclub8687 you know she sent those "gifts" to herself. You are a 🥜 if u believe she carried this show. She was just an old drunk they felt bad for because this is the only work she could get

Half the laughs were from jokes the others made at her expense. Without her, they lose an easy target. And I think she totally understood that part of her job was to be the butt of the joke. Being loved or hated is exactly the point of Brett and she was obviously successful. If she was nice and quietly played the game, you'd just have another bland game show. Fannie Flagg has said that Brett and CNR were two of the smartest people she has known. He, of course, was a theatrical director and I wouldn't be surprised if he had encouraged Brett to exaggerate herself to create her MG character.

Jo Ann Pflug. Gorgeous and saucy woman :-D
Fannie thought so. See beginning of this clip.

JoAnn was married to Chuck Woolery at the time!
It was all to get laughs.

Oh I’m sorry, my bad I got confused there lol 😆
