Brutal display of impeccable technique, precision and musicality all in one. There's only one Hellhammer, and he has been ruling the extreme scene for more than 30 years at this point.
I've had the pleasure of meeting Hellhammer. I am not sure he understands himself on what a level of genius he's operating on as a drummer. And if he does, he's still one of the most down to earth celebs I ever met. This performance is like watching the world's greatest surgeon be in the zone.
I wish that Hellhammer would make some kind of drum DVD.. Playing songs from multi angle and giving some technigue tips etc. ... And i'm not even a drummer.
+V Flygare we film most of the shows with drum cam now. it will come more this year, i am just not good to upload it on youtube (bad internett) there is some more videos on my FB
+Bong Master , Oh Cool! I guess you are working in Mayhem's tour crew or as Hellhammer's drum tech or something like that. It's great that you are filming him playing! Thumbs up for you, bro! Btw, You should ask the Grandmaster himself if he had been thinking about making any kind drumming lesson videos or stuff like that, haha . I'm sure that I wouldn't be the only interesting in them :)
He is the master of masters, the king of kings under all those fantastic drummers. His precision and the fusion style between Jazz and Black Metal is just the greatest pleasure to listen to. Not to forget the incredible tempi he can play that easily. So I feel a little honoured that 2004 in Munich I witnessed Hellhammer playing one bad mistake during some Chimera song. Maniac, Blashemer and Necro couldn't believe it. They were turning around to him asking: what, YOU? So good to know that he is still a human being.
@@tobiaskeitel7870 Yep! I think Trym Torson from Emperor was one, Tjodalv from early Dimmu Borgir was another if i remember correctly. The drumming in the scandinavian's extreme scene was truly shaped by this legend.

Dominator is incredible, the guy has such amazing speed and control, however I won't discredit hellhammer, he brings such groove to the scene while also maintaining such ferocity and speed
@@dumahdrummer654 I think if it wasn't for Blasphemer's massive influence on Mayhem's sound, Hellhammer would likely be playing nothing but blastbeats... Blasphemer-era albums are absolutely phenomenal once you can forget about whether it's "trve Mayhem" or not. I love the fact that most of the second wave artists moved on and did something much more interesting after the scene became an international joke.
@@Metal-Possum Nah, HH was already experimenting and incorporating all kinds of styles in his playing, especially fusion stuff, well before Blasphemer. He always played different stuff, metal or extreme music just gave him his career. But what you said about Mayhem leaving behind the "trve kvlt" scene and nonsense is very true, thankfully. Both Blasphemer and Maniac were instrumental for taking the band to the next level.
You're like me There's a shit ton of talent in this band and Hellhammer is incredible. But there's definitely nothing melodic about them, which I tend to think is a crucial part of Black Metal.
Not that I am agreeing with the other two, but melody isn't "happy keyboard melodies", it can exude any type of emotion, the complete opposite of "happy keyboard melodies". Not only that, but there many ways one can create Black Metal, look at fucking Enslaved.
