Here's the basics on my handmade articulated wings that I wear with my Hawkgirl cosplay. Hope it helps! Video shot and edited by Duncan Ballantine. Thumbnail photo by Dave Yang.
Thank you thank you thank you!!!!! You have NO idea how much this video is going to help me! I have been searching and watching SO MANY videos on articulated wings the last three weeks that honestly I was getting overwhelmed! But after watching your funny and informative video I not only have a better idea on how to make my wings, but I feel better about the whole experience! Watching you be kinda silly and happy about what you have made has definitely lifted the mood I have been in as of late. Thank you! With thanks to you I should have my wings done in no time and ready for con in May!
Chavis Wilkins Unfortunately not, because that would require making a new pair since I sold this one, and I don't want to have a nervous breakdown LOLOL. BUT I can tell you there is no wiring, it's literally just fishing line tied to that joint so we you pull, it lifts. Basic physics, yaaaay!
I was looking for diy on how to make wings for Hawkgirl cosplay too. I thought I needed wire but I guess I need a pvc pipe instead. thank you. Hope there is a step by step tutorial on how to make it so I can make one and have it rented for cosplayers
What type of straps did you get? (Are they 100% nylon?) I'm just wondering how did you sew them as the material seems like the weaving is thick and hard to sew.
I cut holes in the back of my shirt for the PVC brackets to stick out of the shirt! I also used an open-ended zipper (like what you have on a zip-up jacket) for the back of the shirt.
