The early Mongolian Yuan style Jebe Gen2 by AF Archery
We needed a bit warm up together, but then this bow was impressive and I guess after 1000 shots it will do 34” at least 33” safe.
So please do not force your bow in the beginning, take it slow with drawing to the max. Has a good speed, almost no vibration.
Great shooter! And before the video I got the price wrong, the bow is listed with USD299.

I enjoyed this review. Perhaps it's just my personal preference...this is a pretty bow...however, I think I like the first version better visually. The nice wood grain of the original somehow imparts an aura of higher quality. Gen1 seems more real than the synthetic look of this new Gen2 version. Merely personal opinion regarding aesthetics. Both seem very effective functionally. I've enjoyed your videos (and lovely photography) during your time in Malta. An unforgettable era of your life. So nice that we have the opportunity to join you on your adventure to a new era in Austria...even if vicariously. As for your collaboration with Jorg, I think we all look forward to having the two of you "Show Us It's Features!"
"Look at this bow" Yes look at that bow, very good looking bow. 299$ is a great price for a bow that looks like that, and has the quality crafting of AF. Looks like a solid bow to shoot.
Great review as always.
I still have the first generation and is one of my favorite bow . You inspired me to shoot the Zhi bie. Okay! Speaking of this new generation, I have friends who say that it is excellent. For me looks Gorgeous. Enjoy shooting Armin 🏹 🙏
Superb review! The touch of dry humor is so nice. Have been pondering getting a bow like this and learned that AF also have a bamboo version that is just lovely on the eyes. Wood finish instead of the yellow coating.
Sad to hear you are finally leaving Malta. I loved that set (and your photos shot on Malta), but looking forward to your Video with Joerg- wow, two of my favourite channels in one go- efficient 🤗
And once again a bow for the ever growing shopping list...
10 years and Malta Archery as legacy is enough to leave behind :)

Jebe, also spelled Jebei, was one of Ghengis Khan’s generals. He was instrumental in the campaigns against the Jin Dynasty, Khwarezmid Empire, as well as the Cumans and Kipchaks. He was finally defeated at the Battle of Kalka River. Jebe’s success and unorthodox tactics were said to rival that of Subutai - who was one of only six generals in recorded history to have never lost a single battle. 🐴🏹🇲🇳
Bow has pretty shape and I like the black but that wood side is too orangey...idk, cheapens the appearance, birch would be really cool.
Safe travels to you Brother Armin🙏 Can't wait for Austria!
The 1st Gen Zhie Bie was already very attractive to me, although it’s been impossible for me to order at AF at that time. The shape of 2nd Gen looks great, too! ☺️
Yeah, the brown/yellow color on the back and the decoration on the belly wouldn’t be my choice as well, but that’s personal taste 😁
Thank you so much for the nice review (despite the cicadas) and a good start in Austria!
🍀🏹🔆
PS: I‘m curious about the visit of Jörg! 😄
danke :)
I'm sorry to hear that you will be doing a last archary display, it's been so interesting and learning from you the tricks of archary, I really enjoyed your videos on u tube, so I wish you the best of luck into your own future
Not his last, he's moving and will do videos from his new location.:)
@@jenjen7728 oh, OK, I probely didn't hear him to well in that case, I'm a bit deaf, but do wear hearing aids, so I was wrong, Thank you very much on that much appreciated
@@colleenparsons51 Most welcome 😊
I love the shape of this bow, but I think if it was a birch bark with the rest of it looking the same it would be more appealing! Seems to perform well enough, I think it will eventually make 34" my Sai Cai acted the same way. Looking forward to seeing your reviews from Austria, no Cicadas there! Went to Pennsylvania a few years ago and could not go outside because the sound drove me completely foolish! Travel well my friend! Great review as usual!
lol...I'm in Pennsylvania and YEP! 🪳🪳🪳
@@jenjen7728 freaked me out! I'll take our helicopter size Maine mosquitoes and swarms of black flies any day over those evil Cicadas! Lol
@@tammynfletcher 🤣🤣 The good part is the belief that in 6 weeks from cicadas starting frost arrives!! So I always welcome their arrival. I ❤ Maine and you have the biggest skeeters I've ever seen.
Happy shooting.
Good luck in your new location. Thanks for your inspiring videos.
A pretty bow for sure. But I agree that wood looks wierd. I guess no texture on the wood, and a bit too much yellow are to blame.
I like it , Armin my friend I'll be looking forward to your next review and I wish you a safe and prosperous journey, hope to hear from you real soon.
Hi Armin,
good luck for the future!
Looking forward to see what's coming up from Austria.
🏹🎯
All the best with your move Armin. Look forward to seeing your new location. 😊🏹
It’s a really nice looking bow and seems to shoot really well. But I do think if you say it will draw 34 it should draw 34 with out having to work up to it!!! And I do agree with that Carmel color no go but a rusty marbly blotchy burnt orange with the black would be really sweet. Take care my friend God Bless.
I could get that beautiful bow at that price! I paid $ 300 for my Cold Steel Cheap Shot 130 crossbow and it's the most reliable crossbow I've ever had, I still got it and will never part with it. It's a nice recurve bow, but that grip would have to be replaced and I'm thinking rawhide leather awesome archery Armin and thumbs up. 🤠🤠🤠🤠👍👍👍👍🎯🎯🎯🎯🏹🏹🏹🏹🏹
Nice review and yes I agree with the over gripping need. My short Nomad also needs a firm grip otherwise you're not as consistent and changing the grip especially on a short bow is a no no lol have a great day Armin
A lovely bow .... Long enough not to pinch my fat fingers and I only draw to 31" max anyway (I'm a slavic draw savage) and 40# @28" is just about perfect.... Time to start saving...
Nice review, as always! 👌🏻
What's that glove on your drawing hand? I want to try out thumb release but couldn't get a propper protection for my thumb at a local archery store.
And look at this, you're moving to Austria? 😃 Which state? Are you going to open a business here?
I'm Austrian and a big fan of yours. So looking forward to maybe meet you in person some time! 😉
Cheers, Christoph
In your bow reviews you calculate the f-value; what is that used for? I found a reddit post saying it's calculated as the maximum draw length divided by the nock-to-nock length, but I'm unable to find out what it's used for.
i just found your channel. very interesting. I noticed you keep your arrow on the right side of your bow riser. Is that a personal preference or are there some advantages, excuse my ignorance
If you shoot thumb draw or slavic draw the arrow "supposed" to be on the right side as oppose to mediterranean draw(three fingers draw)- this stands of course for people drawing with right hand.
Check for those draws techniques on youtube. You can find a lot of valuable information.
@@YoyoRob_cz thanks. I shoot 3 fingers Right hand, but my arrow rest is on a left side. learn something new, haha
Yes I do thumb draw. Check out my videos about it. I explain a lot there
Hey, i im Doing archery for 1 year now and i love your videos, especialy your old ones about thumb draw :)
I bought a rolan snake to practise thumb draw and its really fun. Now i want to buy my first reflex bow, is there any bow you would suggest for a beginner?
any will be good. You need to know your budget and what your max draw length might be and which style you like
@@ArminHirmer thank you for your answer, i didnt expect that its that easy to choose a bow :)
jörg the legend!
Hi Armin
hey armin, one of my throwarms on my fibreglas horse bow is bent.
could you give me any tips how to fix it?
best regards!
"Jebe" in Balkan is one of 3 kings who have brought happiness into people's lives :)
The "simple khatra" works great with all my bows!
I am so happy with AF Archery they actually designed a "Mughal Crab" looking bow that does 34", even though it's meant to be a more early mongol design.
Have u seen their mughal bow? It's quite different
@@Daylon91 Yes but it doesn't do a long draw 30-32 is too small for my liking, and I have waiting so long for someone to make a longer draw Mughal design.
@@srinjoyroychoudhury7034 ah I see it's just that design of bow never drew that far. Maybe max 29"
What weight would you use for target and hunting
Ty for this review, after Malta i hope you will come in France 😅
Austria is not so far from France ;)
@@ArminHirmer Yes Feldkirch in Austria will be great to come from France😉
Sounds great
Nice bow. Seems to have some power to it. Why you leaving Malta?
10 years is enough
The herringbone pattern is super common in many old traditions... The "v"s as you call them on the belly...
might be, still dont like it :)
Can we say that the lower the brace hight is, the more to the right the arrow goes?
I would say so (if you dont torque or do Khatra)
Hey Armin , you specialy mentioned the glove because of me I'm sure xD
What size are u wearing?
And I know it's the wrong video for that bit I got a Freddie archery nomad (ktb) bow and the handle and katha style is hard for me :/
But the worst is how the hell do you measure the brace hight on an Korean bow?
Of the limbs , on the middle of the grip , arrow pass? Couldn't find definitive answer to that :/
Vielen Dank für deine Hilfe und tollen Videos , weiter so :)
I measure from the arrow pass in this case. I have size m
@@ArminHirmer vielen Dank ich vertraue dir da mehr als jedem anderen :)

What was that annoying sound on the background?
cicadas
