Was just thinking of making the same type video. Just started surfing, being an ex skater in my youth, 49 now. I catch waves but can't yet surf the face of the wave in a controlled manner... more in a straight line towards the shore line...Went to France... the region of Crozon at the tip of Britanny. Huge waves 23sec. periods... loved it but was scary as hell. Left me a bit traumatized but i did catch a few. I'd really like to record the progress as you did here. Maybe not for three years but until i got the hang of it. Really cool video ! Grts vanuit Belgie !
2nd year of surfing here and this video gave me motivation to keep going! To be honest surfing can be very tough sometimes.. thanks for posting your progression!! Comments with micro corrections and things you started doing would be awesome for the next vid! Also please thank your girlfriend for being so supportive, she rocks!
Surfing is tough man! But those little celebrations whenever you learn something new or land something sick feel so good because of it!! And yeah ill try to go more in dept with the learning steps next vid 🙏 (Thanked the gf again btw ;)
Good job Aron 🤙🏻looking sick out there!! I have a question bro. I do or how can I remember to place my back foot on the foot pad??! Any suggestions thanks
I just tried really focussing on that specifically, like think about it when in the water but not on a wave yet for a whole session and eventually youll feel it going automatically, and youll also notice how much easier it surfs!
Thanks for pointing that out again! I knew i had to learn that a while ago but kind of never thought about it again, its easier in bigger waves tho. Lets see if i can improve on that in the next vid 😊
Not sure you can say 3 years surf progression when you surfed 10 years prior to that but it highlights something important. If you surf 2 times a week (104 surfs a year) compared to someone who surfs once a month (12 surfs a year). It means you could progress 8.6x faster. I have only been surfing for just shy of 2 years but intensely and i have noticed i progressed to catch up to friends who have surfed casually 7+ years very quickly. I notice too after a long break due to injury or something it takes me a few surfs to get back confidence and build surf fitness again. If you don't surf enough you will never build up or maintain surf fitness.
Yea i get what youre saying, and yup i had most of the basics for surfing. Also not claiming i started from 0 btw. The 5 or idk years prior to these 3 years i had barely surfed at all, so it kinda felt like starting all over again even tho it helped that it wasnt my first time hehe
Hahah yea its pretty bad lots of times but scoring decent/good waves here is so much more rewarding!! Idk riding waves is just more my thing iguess, kiting seems like such a hussle everytime you wanna go out
you shouldve been riding bigger boards. that wouldve helped you and progressed you more. high performance boards are meant for people who know how to surf at a high performance.
I agree in the first couple years i should have taken my board with more volume out alot more, i guess i was too stubborn 🥲 also i now do own a fish with heavy volume. That being said i think i am perfectly allowed to ride shortboards by now, in the end its all about the fun of it and im having fun so i dont think im doing something wrong ❤
Depends on the wave you surf, admittedly in the Netherlands beach breaks could do with it. But if you're trying to improve your turning, learn to surf in the pocket and get more vertical with your turns that would just hold him back?
she was willing to film all those sessions over the course of 2 years??!? Marry that woman!
Thanks for the great advice and fast response bro! I will keep u posted! If your ever in San Diego California hit me up.
Nice clips, cheers for sharing. You found the pocket in June 2021
Nice progress💪

good progression, good music.
💪🏼🙏
Such great effort , but through years u should have tried surfing more vertical !

Is this netherlands?
Most of the brown water clips yes, blue stuff if mostly france haha
Did your gf also do the drone clips?
Yess all except the very last ones
@@AronRovers Where I find a girlfriend like that? 😂 I’ll keep trying to find her here in San Diego 😆
Dont mention anything about it on ur first date tho 😂😅
ik heb dit net helemaal gekeken en beseft dat ik het allemaal al eens heb gezien
Wat een toeval 😮
you were kinda riding your high performance board like it was a long board, put some swaz on it grommit.
Surfing is hard as hell bro haha, working on it 😊 (recent videos show its going better)

Good god the Netherlands has some shit surf haha, why not take up kiting? Loads of wind there no?

get on a mid length or bigger fish. you still need it.
Depends on the wave you surf, admittedly in the Netherlands beach breaks could do with it. But if you're trying to improve your turning, learn to surf in the pocket and get more vertical with your turns that would just hold him back?
2/10 because no paddle
😥
@@AronRovers don't keep trying though.
