Hi Craig. Thank you for your video! I have one of these and I'm busy trying to sort my foot pedal. I'm battling to open it up - how did you separate the top and bottom of that pedal? It feels really stuck on and worried that prying too hard might break something. Hope you get my message! Kind regards Angelique
Hi Angelique, You need to make sure you get all the screws out. If I remember correctly, there are screws hidden under the little rubber footpads. Then you have to slide the two parts apart - be careful, because it’s got all sorts of springs so that will make it a little harder to slide apart. Just pry the two parts apart with a paint stripper and go slow so you can peer inside to see if you’ve missed anything while making sure that the springs don’t shoot out all over the place. Once you’ve got it open - you will see that they’ve used a sliding copper bar for a resistor. It is probably going to be very worn or even shot. In hindsight I would have replaced that with a single turn rotary pot and some mechanical modification. The pot will have to be linear and not logarithmic. The modification should not be too difficult. Do not buy a cheap pot - you’re looking at something in the range of €55. If you feel the modification is beyond you, you could try find one of those old scaletrix controllers - they have a similar control mechanism. I believe that you cannot get those pedals anymore. 🤷♂️ So you’ve really got no option other than to fix it. Let us know how you come along. Cheers Craig
can you repair my Pfaff creative 1471 sewing machine foot peddle? I live I live in Tzaneen and no one here can repair it. I can courier the foot to you or alternatively can you suggest someone to repair it. many thanks.
Hi there, Unfortunately, I am not able to help you - I have gone back to varsity and am studying overseas. So the cost to send it to me would be horrendous. If you know someone who is mechanically inclined - it would be a pushover to fix? Nice part of the world. I spent a lot of time in that area. Cheers, Craig
@@foulkesbrau3085 thanks for your help loved your video by the way yes we live up in the mountains and it is indeed very beautiful each day looks different we are indeed privileged good luck with the studying kind regards
Ta, thanks a million. It was a little hard going back at my age - but experience gets you through. Was there through my service and it then later on to do pmc. Once again, if you can, or if you yourself can look at it - I can walk you through the repair. Unfortunately, I cannot do it myself. Cheers Craig.
