Top 10 Agritech Startups Empowering Indian Farmers
Вставка
- Опубліковано 4 чер 2024
- For a long time, the use of technology in the agricultural industry has been limited in India. That is the reason why the agriculture industry in India employs over 50% of its population but still contributes merely 17-18% to its GDP. However, in the last couple of years, India has seen a rise in the number of agritech startups that are not only making technology more accessible but also helping these farmers to improve their lives. Today, we will take a look at top 10 agritech startups empowering Indian farmers. 00:00
01:18 #10 Aibono: Founded by Vivek Rajkumar in 2014, Aibono has pioneered the seed-to-plate concept, wherein it helps the farmers to increase their crop yield and also sell the produce to the retailers. The company uses soil sensors, IoT devices and imaging drones to collect farm data and transfers it onto their cloud platform which uses predictive analytics to help the farmers make smart agriculture decisions in order to increase their produce. Aibono has raised $3.5 million.
02:44 #9 Intello Labs: Founded by Milan Sharma, Nishant Mishra, Himani Shah and Devendra Chandani in 2016, Intello Labs offers digital products like Intello Track, Intello Sort, Intello Pack and Intello Deep which uses technologies like computer vision and deep learning to help farmers, retailers and exporters to access the quality of their fruits and vegetables.
03:48 #8 EM3 AgriServices: Founded by Rohtash Mal and his son Adwitya Mal in 2013, EM3 AgriServices helps small farmers who can’t afford to buy expensive farming technology to rent specialization machines to boost productivity at cheaper costs.
04:28 #7 CropIn Technology: Founded by Krishna Kumar and Kunal Prasad in 2010, CropIn provides one-stop SaaS-based solutions platform enabling agribusinesses to increase efficiency, productivity and sustainability. Its platform offers real-time weather updates, ability to manage farm activities, and predicts crop yields to minimize risk and yield better produce.

05:09 #6 Bijak: Founded by Nikhil Tripathi, Daya Rai, Jitender Bedwal, Mahesh Jakhotia and Nukul Upadhye in 2019, Bijak enables traders and wholesalers to discover new suppliers, maintain ledgers, make payments, and access working capital through its app to scale their business. Bijak has raised $14.3 million.
05:47 #5 Stellapps: Founded by Ranjith Mukundan, Ravishankar G. Shiroor, Praveen Nale, Ramakrishna Adukuri and Venkatesh Seshasayee in 2011, Stellapps helps dairy farmers and cooperatives to maximize their profits by digitizing and optimizing Milk Procurement & Coldchain Management through its IoT-based SmartMoo platform.
06:42 #4 DeHaat: Founded by Shashank Kumar and Amrendra Singh in 2012, DeHaat offers agricultural services like access to agricultural inputs like seeds and fertilizers at affordable prices, personalized assistance, soil testing, weather reports, micro-finance, and insurance. DeHaat has raised $19.3 million to help Indian farmers.
07:29 #3 AgroStar: Founded by brothers Shardul Sheth and Sitanshu Sheth in 2013, AgroStar offers an online marketplace for farmers to buy agricultural inputs. This agritech startup also helps farmers by providing real-time advice from experts on how to manage their crops and boost their yield. AgroStar has raised $42 million.
08:10 #2 WayCool: Founded by Karthik Jayaraman and Sanjay Dasari in July 2015, WayCool offers a B2B agritech platform that uses technology to control end-to-end agriculture supply chain right from farming inputs to last-mile distribution to help the farmers to sell their produce through multiple distribution channels. Till date, WayCool has raised $60.8 million.
08:58 #1 Ninjacart: Founded by Thirukumaran Nagarajan, Kartheeswaran K K, Ashutosh Vikram, Sharath Loganathan and Vasudevan Chinnathambi in June 2015, Ninjacart started as a B2C hyperlocal food delivery startup. It was transformed into a B2B agritech startup in order to solve the fresh agricultural produce supply chain problem for the farmers and the retailers. So far, Ninjacart has raised $164.2 million from Tiger Global Management, Accel, Qualcomm Ventures and Steadview Capital.

what about sensegrass?
What's wrong with youtube. It took so long to recommend this channel. Thank you so much for the great content.
I'm so glad you found us Pushya! I think the reason we've stayed fairly small up until this point is that none of our content is super entertaining. UA-cam loves to promote funny videos, shocking videos, etc. but when it comes to educational content, it's a bit harder for small creators to find an audience at the start. However, with our Tesla video, we were able to both educate _and_ entertain, which is why that video has performed so tremendously 🙂 and now that that first wave of subscribers has come in, I think the grow will surely continue, so that more people like yourself can discover our videos! -Caleb
@@backstagewithmillionaires i came in the hunt of it
@@backstagewithmillionaires its super informative as well engaging at the same time .I was up till 3 in the morning yesterday watching all your videos. Great to see an ex-employee of a startup praising it!
Amazing, didnt know India has such a big investment in Agritech.. Good going.
Hi SuperFavrits, even I wasn't aware of this before we made the video. But it's awesome to see 🙂. -Caleb
Yup... That's why MODI JI want to cash in agriculture by bringing agricultural laws... Not for farmers but for Ambani & Adani's sake 🤦🏻♂️
@@sandeepkumar-co1ev I did not see Ambani or Adani. Forget Modi,Yogi ,Mamta and all the wretched politicians. If these people are helping an ordinary farmer to sell their produce, what is wrong with it. Have you ever seen the pain on a farmer's face when he has to sell his produce at a price lower than the amount he has invested? It is time to stop , playing politics.
@@anilsinha4968 I totally agree with you , farmers put so much effort on their land. Not so many economic activities requiere a total immersion like farming does.
@@tomasb3048 Sometimes,I ask myself who is to blame for our plight? The government , the bureaucrats or the middle man in the market. In the end ,I find non to blame for my plight except God for making me a farmer. Leaving aside the politician or the bollywood star turned farmer no average Indian farmer is making money out of agriculture. The Indian farmer more than anything needs a market to sell his produce at a reasonable rate. It may sound paradoxical but subsides has done more harm than good. Give us access to soft loans, provide water for irrigation ( you can take a leaf out of it from the methods Israel has adopted) .
Indian startup industry must focus on empowering and developing the most important and the foundational sector of Indian economy ie. The agricultural sector....anyways,great video...👍👍👍👍
Hey Shaunak, I agree, we need to focus on enabling the agricultural industry and it is nice to see more startups are focusing on this sector.

Good to see Agri-tech startups are emerging day to day....In the next video you can include ECOZEN SOLUTIONS and FASAL companies
Wow, this is quite informative. How did you decide their rank? I guess it's by their total funding amount.
BTW Nikhil from Bijak is my college senior and it was great to catch up on their progress/funding.
Hi tryit tryitagain,
Yeah we used the funding metric to rank the startups for this video.
Bijak was only founded a year ago and it seems to be doing a great job. They certainly have some lofty goals and it would be nice to see how they progress over the coming years.
Also, that is really interesting, did you get a chance to interact with Nikhil? What did you make of him? He was also a part of another agritech startup gobasco, so it's nice to see youngsters getting involved in this space. This isn't the coolest or most appealing startup space for most entrepreneurs.
-Varun
Highly informative. Having worked on aggregation of farmers a decade back, I would like to know if there are groups/ startups working on the following: making small farmers monetarily beneficial- enough to prevent migration out of village, those motivating people in urban areas to consider farming as a viable alternative, those working exclusively with farmer groups, congregations and organisations like producer companies helping to create mini agro-corporates(!), and finally those that are devoted to organic farming, water conservation , ancillary activities etc. Please upload videos on these issues. Personally I am interested in involving myself with such startups in some capacity not necessarily for money. I seriously believe farming must lead to economic prosperity.
Carry on u r dong great job .13
Thanks so much Banty! We'll keep making videos 🙂. -Caleb

These companies have together implemented every single Agri-StartUp idea I have ever had in the past 6 years and more. It's really time that the Governments of India and the States closed down most of their agricultural activities and just let the invisible hand of the free market function without govt interferences.
@Biness Man you are wrong. The govt is needed only to pay the salary of the police, judiciary and defence
Last two are not really agritech but logistics. Although that is required as well. Great videos by you guys.
Thank you Nitish!

We still aren't that efficient in supply chain management. I saw some product which hell of a price today due to lack of supply but just the other day same thing is thrown into the trash because of over supply. In india, these things are often seen at the time of festivals. This could saves millions and reduce the waste of food products.
This problem is a lot more evident in the agriculture space as well. As these price fluctuations have caused farmers to even just throw off their produce as the prices can drop so low at times. But since some of these produce can give some better returns at times, all of them start producing the same crops which leads to low prices. The way some of these startups are partnering with the farmers and helping them to grow the right crops based on their own requirements can help with this problem to some extent.
-Varun
Can you make a video on Startups working in Cold Space and Cold Chain Logistics
That is an interesting topic HC-DC, I will add this to our list of future videos. Thanks for the suggestion.
