Both of these teams exit from the championship was confirmed in the same game, unfortunately for Huddersfield just wasn’t the direction they wanted to go, it’s also crazy that only two years ago Ipswich were finishing 11th in League One and Huddersfield were in a Championship play off final
Born and bred in Ipswich, saw my first Ipswich Town game in 1969!!!!!! (Versus Leeds United strangely enough.) Now I'm living in Japan. Saw the game live last night in my English pub in Kyoto. Would give up my pension to have been at Portman Road yesterday. At last, we're back in the top flight after many years in the wilderness of the lower divisions. What an amazing turnaround. Love you Blues from Japan!!!!!

I have been big fan of Ipswich Town since 1978 and now it is great thing that Ipswich is back in top level in England. I am from Finland and it is not been very succesfull times to support Ipswich !!! Now it is time to enjoy ! Paul Cooper, Mick Mills, Terry Butcher, Russel Osman, John Wark, Frans Thijssen, Arnold Muhren, Alan Brazil, Eric Gates, Paul Mariner were players when Ipswich was in their best level. And in finnish citizen I also have to mention player Shefgi Kugi !

Honestly i really think ipswich has that 70's forest type of magic in them i really think they will finish top half because back to back years of finishing with 90+ points and to get promoted no one gave them a chamce against the 3 relegated pl sides leicester leeds and southampton and they beat 2 of them to get promoted
People said the same about Luton Town when they got promoted. They will be going down this year (sadly say as a Luton fan). Also being a fan of Ipswich I am viewing them with the same lens as I viewed Luton this year. "Great they are up for that paycheck, They will not stay up tho. This is more just a trial run for a proper run when they get promoted again." Great to see Ipswich going up but expecting anything more then being relegated again is just irresponsible with how massive the money gap from Championship to PL is.
Huddersfield was in Premier League years ago and now they drop down with little hope of coming back again. just shows what few years in football can affect clubs!
A couple of seasons ago Ipswich played Forest Green in League 1; Forest Green have now been relegated from the EFL and Ipswich are now in the Premiership.
It's why I say dropping from the EPL to the Championship can never be a war of attrition. The longer a team stays in the 2nd tier the harder the challenge out of the quicksand. Not always an easy ask of a relegated club I know, but when you look at how many have dropped and then dropped again if they're not back up in one or two seasons it's a lesson for all.
Just hanging on in the championship isn’t a good thing. There’s not really any advantage to it as the money isn’t massive. Players get paid more but aren’t amazing. Going down to L1 can be a boast to the club if challenging. It can help to attract hungry players wanting to win but haven’t had the chance yet. That’s what happened to Ipswich. We stayed up with no progression. The players slowly became worse and it’s was never going to change. We went down and became a big appeal for players that wanted to prove themselves. We were in the mix and could attract, burns, morsy, luongo, chaplin, Hirst, broadhead, burgess (the list goes on). Clearly championship level but haven’t had the chance and would struggle in a relegation threatened team. Then it’s just about the right manager to nurture them.

Congratulations Ipswich Town and all your fans. I thought once injuries and suspensions and fixture congestion took ther toll that Leeds would overtake Ipswich but to be fair they never really faltered or needed to adapt their attractive style of play. Just 5 defeats all season is a very impressive record for the Championship.
