3:39 That's the original Super Mario Bros version of the extended 1UP glitch from SMB3. Not only by how they sound, but literally the same glitch. A 1UP reads garbage data from an adjacent sound in the game's code. This time it seems to be playing the flagpole theme. Of course the 1UP sound sounds different, so the flagpole theme sounds different. But I think it is reading the flagpole's sound code.

You're allowed to get up to 126 lives without fear of getting a game over. But if you get 127, the game will automatically game-over you upon your next death due to an integral error.

When I was a kid my favorite codes for SMB1 included one that made squished goombas kickable if you touch them before they disappear. I also found one that made objects that fell off the bottom of the screen (except for Mario/Luigi) fall back down from the top; this one made for some real havoc when combined with the kickable goomba code! Sadly I long lost track of what those codes were.
15:03 Just a small hint: If you use a turbo-fire controller (or set the jump key to fast repeat), you can get small Mario to jump up through the blocks.

i found one called OOPEEP and it makes 1-1 alternate from winter to spring and 1-2 is made out of mario tiles lol (also in the second half of 1-1 there are a bunch of invisible blocks so be careful!)

Hey Gruz, I've always been a fan of your channel when you first started. I enjoy seeing your game genie codes on mario.. I was curious do you have the original Legend of Zelda? If so I remember back in the day I use to mess with it using game genie, I didn't know what I was doing but I recall making all the letters "A" for the code, the game wae super glitchy and it almost made like a teddy bear and I remember at some point in the game it leads you to the final level. I would love to see you recreate it. I wish I could do it but I no longer have game genie.
3:39 is a slowed down and extended version of the "getting a 1-UP sound". In regular game play it occurs by overlapping sounds. The SMB3 version of it is explained here, but the same principle exists for SMB 1. ua-cam.com/video/2VHySu_jaPw/v-deo.html

Long story short, there is a queue for sounds in SMB3, every sound has a priority in the queue, and if there is too many sounds, the game will play the sound highest in the queue. The 1UP mushroom during development had a very low priority on the queue, but then they realized their mistake, but the priority of the 1UP mushroom was already set. So they decided to haphazardly make a code that makes the 1UP mushroom higher in the queue. Something, something, something, the 1UP mushroom reads garbage data from the super mushroom, but it's written differently so it makes different sounds. I can't remember all of it, but Retro Game Mechanics explained has a good video on it!
At 7:21 you do really good effects with your voice. I dabble in music production and your effects sound like you are well versed in FL Studio and make game content as a fun side project. Kudos to you kind sir and thank you for your high production quality.
