    At 11:04 when I talk about the carrier my intent was to say that the design DOES make sense as it doesn't need to be fancy or anything. It just needs to build/resupply and store ships.

      True the carrier from homeworld 1 looks like a floating pill bug, simple but can complete its purpose

    A few things to note:
    It's clearly shown at 2:38 that the mothership is not tied to single angle, it's vertical in that shot, since the background is the galactic core, recognizable from the first game, and I know which direction is "up" in that case, it's very likely that the ship will be able to tilt on it's axis, considering maneuvering megalith derelicts and terrain will be a considerable aspect of tactics in gameplay.
    Second thing: the woman clearly states she remembers "Opening the gates". It's Karan, no doubt about it. That's the face we see throughout the trailer, and I highly doubt it won't be her at the helm of the mothership; Sajuuk was not only a holy vessel of tremendous importance to Kushanic religion, it was also not a mothership-class vessel, it's safe to say that once the war for Hiigara against the Vaygr was won, they sent the ship off to some museum, research facility, or maybe there's something else going on with it that we are not yet privy to.

      First off, thanks for watching and for your comment!
      Yes, it is absolutely clear it's Karan later in the trailer, I was just trying to build a bit of a storyline for my commentary.
      Concerning the mothership, that is quite possible, but it's default position is certainly horizontal. And for the trailer they can pose the ship however they want, of course. :)
      We'll have to see more footage to make sure!
      I do think that most of the fighting in the megaliths will be done by smaller craft, though.

    • @tatuira93

      @Spencer Fritz if it has any military use, I'd wager it would be allocated as an orbital cannon of sorts, defending Hiigara.
      But we are all just spitballing here, who knows.

    • @morganf7310
      @morganf7310 2 роки тому +2

      I would say the only reason they showed it vertically there is because it was a flash back to the original games and they didn’t want to bother making an og mother ship redesign or use HWR footage for the trailer so they just used the model they have but it would be cool to be able to turn the ship like you say.

    • @Heliosvector

      So does Karan never age? Didn’t it take decades to build each mothership? Was she in 1? Or just 2.

    The scale in this new game is insane, but I find funny that the render engine feels very familiar, is almost like Homeworld Remastered went to the gym and now can lift some massive derelicts... I can't wait to lay my hands on it and mod the heck out of it lol...

    Look carefully in the back ground. Various different points of view of, The progenitor Factory ship. It appears it is, being reassembled. You know, the one that broke apart tens of thousands of years ago. Find the HW2 vid of what it looked like prior to destruction. In the HW3 vid, you see its nose, drive section, mid section, a gate it had near middle, the construction back in the lower bottom.
    .... Interaction with progenitor's, "normal" sized ships. Remember the Dreadnaught was a power source, and Sajuk was a communication device. NOT warships. Just to everyone else they were so advanced....

    • @overriderss
      @overriderss 2 роки тому +1

      The Dreadnaught was not a power source, it was one of 2 keys of the Balcora gate. The Balcora gate was the only way into the dead space region where Sajuuk was resting. And Sajuuk in turn was the key that opened the central acces point to the ancient galactic hyperspace gates.

    • @Heliosvector

    There might be a clue as to what happened to Sajuuk: at 8:39 we get a shot of the mothership in which we can see (on the left side of the picture) a triangle/hexagonal structure with three round protrusions, akin to the one present on Sajuuk to house the hyperspace cores. This doesn’t tell us what happened to the ship itself, but this maybe evidence that the mothership is still carrying the cores.

    • @Cypher10110
      @Cypher10110 2 роки тому +3

      I agree, it feels like a strong visual reference to Sajuuk. The first view of the new mothership going into hyperspace at 2:40 gives us a pretty good view of this 3-core cluster, too.

    • @Coercer
      @Coercer  2 роки тому +1

      You're right! I didn't notice that. :) That's a huge clue, actually. That should make everything a cakewalk with that much power! :p
      Or maybe the 3 cores are failing as well.
      We might get treated to a very bittersweet ending in this game...

    • @mackinawsensei3541
      @mackinawsensei3541 2 роки тому +2

      @@Coercer One can assume that the « mistery » they’re talking about on the steam page is probably linked to the cores somehow (this would make sense since they’re basically progenitor technology).
      My main question is: who or what are we going to fight against ?
      Perhaps it is going to be our own people, but I’d very much like to see another faction (and I think it’s likely given the nature of the quest, the galaxy-wide threat they mentioned may be an ancient enemy or something of this kind)
      But I’d like to know if you have any idea ^^

    • @Coercer
      @Coercer  2 роки тому +1

      @@mackinawsensei3541 That's still completely unknown, but some of the concept art shows unknown ships that make the mothership look like a corvette in comparison...
      My bet is on an ancient race...
      Perhaps the Kushan explored too far and too greedily. :)

    I wonder if they are going to have the carrier power shunting system from DOK. I think it was a cool game mechanic that added depth to fighting with your main ship. However I don’t think it would make sense in lore for a (at this point) very advanced space faring civilization to have to shunt power to different systems especially one that poses all three hyperspace cores. I am tore between having a lore accurate depiction and a good game mechanic but they haven’t said anything about it in their devblog on fig so we shall see in the coming months hopefully.

    Those lantern things you mention at 7:45 are featured in concept art for HW1 and HW2 as large fuel containers/refueling depots. In the art ships were shown docked to the containers attached with large connected hoses. I don't think they supposed to be fuel containers in the HW3 trailer, it's likely an artist was looking through the old concept art and added them in with a different purpose or just for the aesthetic.
