Yugioh shouldnt have any barriers playing ocg tcg.
That is the dream, maybe one day.
Tbf, no card game should have that kind of barrier.
Only MTG has that possibility, of all the card games existing today only the one that hasn't been made by a japanese company has all languages legal in any Country.
The reason behind the choice made by the japanese companies to make two different card backs for the local and the global market is simply bad, not allowing cards from the global version into the local market environment doesn't help anybody, rising prices doesn't help sellers if players give up on buying inflated expensive cards.
There are some exceptions of course that still bear the same issues, like DTCG explicitly disallowing japanese and english cards to be used together even if both have the same back, or the horrible Bushiroad-Oriental Wave clusterf*ck that was Cardfight Vanguard (a triple card language separation, almost the cardgame equivalent of a ghetto during apartheid...).
If anything this could help teaching how much of a plague is discrimination to people playing these games, by making them feel a sample of it first hand...
