You make it sound so easy! How do you sterilise your snips/shears?
Do these roses do okay in soil that is rather clay-ee?

I imagine the answer is no (as the presenter states), but you can turn clay soil into rich soil by sowing alfalfa and cutting it under, and then adding mulch (as mentioned in the video) and perlite. Or, you can build up a raised bed and add appropriate growing soil, because the extra water will drain out. You can sterilize your shears with rubbing alcohol.

This was very informative. I had some roses in my front yard years ago and they got diseased. I watered over the tops, never knew about feeding. I am going to try it again my my backyard. When is a good time to plant (Im in NW GA) and what kind of feed do you suggest? Also, what do you suggest cleaning pruning clippers with? Can you tell im new to this? LOL

Absolutely Beautiful!! I just got (2) 1 gallon Cherry Red Double Knockout Rose Bushes delivered today, Friday, 05-10-2024, from Home Depot. They are FINE!! How do I plant them, water them, and take good care of them? Do they have to be covered in the winter time before a freeze hits? I’m in Livingston Parish, Louisiana. Thank You!

I noticed you have orange clay like we do. Did you add any other soil to the hole you dug, or did you only refill the area with the clay after putting your plant into the ground? Thank you!

I noticed, too. The soil in my area is very clay-ee. I the past, I have mostly planted Salvias and added a lot of compost to the holes. My Salvias always did well until a bad freeze would hit in Winter. I LOVE Salvias, but I would love to have roses, too.

@@user-lz6dm5lk9y I’ve been in search of a place near me to buy some compost. It’s not very easy apparently.
