28:40 i don’t understand why the guy in the left was so confused by John’s reaction. It obv looked like the frontman had run out of bullets and John thought maybe he was in trouble because maybe the pink suit guys would turn around and kill him. He thought maybe not all of the pink suit guys would be able to recognize him. Pretty simple to understand. This guy on the left is kinda weird.
Only thing that bothered me is that it's implied that all of those wacky stairs are made out of concrete. That doesn't make sense. Definitely looks like wood which means those guns would have turned those stairs into Swiss cheese.
My take is that 001 facilitated Gi-Hun’s rebellion just to show him that he would always fail. He spent the season questioning his morals and showing him the evil of human nature. He said it at the start of the season “You think you’re the hero”. The whole season has been him fucking with him, allowing him to make his way to the top just to kick him back down. He wants Gi-Hun to know that he failed. The games will continue until humanity itself changes.
I agree we hear 001 say to the guards to wrap things up suggesting they always had the upper hand and could have been stalling for a moment where 001 could off screen himself and go back to being the front man
Gi Hun wants to end the game so that "greedy" people won't have as much fun, but in the end his greed to end the game caused the demise of a lot of people close to him.
@@Audit0600Yes in trying to stop the games he became a new type of front man and lead alot of these people to their deaths. In a way making a new type of game without realizing it 😬 Like he said in the beginning, "he's fucked". You can't make other people change
The Boat captain is the same boat they refer to when delivering organs.. thats why he was there to pull the cop from the waters because he was there picking up organs to deliver. So all the years driving him around not finding the island he knew where it was the entire time
I didn't even realized that. I suspected that the boat captain is the traitor since the series showed several times how much information he gets about the plan, but it now makes even more sense why it's him who's the traitor.
I've kinda suspected him the entire time because after two years he'd be able to find the Island again if he wanted to. It never made sense that he the detective would have floated that far away from the Island and that the search radius would be so large. And he was probably sent by the front man to rescue him rather than him randomly finding him in the sea.
All men go through military training because Korea has a conscription system. So it's not a strange thing to use a gun well. The South Korean Marines are different from the U.S. Marines. The Korean Marines can go without difficulty if men who have to go to the army apply, and it's only a little harder than the regular army, but it's not much different. You shouldn't think of it as very strong as the U.S. Marine Corps. However, former Korean Marines are as proud as the U.S. Marine Corps and carry out special operations
Well, it's not really that much different in the US. US marines are proud and boast too, which is probably why you think they're more special than they are. Their training is nowhere near as difficult as special forces training. Seems common among "marines."
@@chase5436Rangers and SOF units are definitely a league above. It's just that the Marines are a particularly highly respected bunch because there's no such thing as a POG Marine. They are first and foremost riflemen. No such thing as a non marksman Marine.

The motivation for Hyunju to join Gihun’s rebellion was losing her friend in the last game. Remember, she kicked out the shaman lady and the shy girl who was her friend didn’t make it to the room in time and was killed right in front of Hyunju. That shook her up, because before that incident, she voted O. She didn’t care about who died, they were strangers. But then someone she bonded with died. She was suddenly faced with the real weight and consequences of her choices. And the reality that while her friend was important to her, for the BitCoin guy, she was just an obstacle to his survival. Which was how she treated the shaman lady just moments ago (just an obstacle). So Hyunju didn’t just press X this time because she had enough money to cover her debts, but because she lost something greater than money: one of the few ppl in the world who treated her with humanity and kindness. Remember the conversation Gihun had with his friend when Jungbae asked why Gihun would come back after winning the money. Gihun said “what if you watched me die right in front of you”. The value of the money changes when someone you grow to care about is the cost. You might sacrifice millions of strangers for the money, but not one friend. That’s kind of a big premise for the show and it explains Hyunju’s motivations.
Same for the son, he was taking it for granted that both him and his mom would survive. But when they get separated, he realized how real of a possibility it is that he could lose her permanently rather than a couple of minutes. If that hadn’t happened I wonder if he would’ve still flipped to x
Also, from the very first game, Gihuyun has shown the entire group his bravery putting himself back in danger to save a fellow human. Even in the most nihilist of circumstances, bravery in the face of death is enough to move people to action when that brave person calls others to action
100%, she was the most rational the whole time, and especially with a military background, it’s hard not to volunteer yourself against killing some of those bastards (the pink men)
i think saying "she didn't care about who died, they were strangers" is kind of a reach, yes she was selfish enough to vote O and continue the games, knowing that there would be sacrifices for it but she essentially still helped people during the games, especially at the first round with the guy who was shot on the leg since it didn't have any beneficial for her to help the guy.
They are all ex military because all male koreans have to enlist for 18 months before the age of 28 . I think the idea is end the games and take the money .
Yes, but not all end up in military. Those who don't qualify, will perform community service at government offices, etc. under the same conditions and period as conscripted soldiers
Tho i believe there is some weapons training, in case if North becomes aggressive and starts to invade..In North, military training is 10 years and most of the Pink Soldiers might be North Koreans/defectors or those who try to avoid military enlisting..that's why some Pink Soldiers were bad at shooting.
@@t0roki interesting theory I didn’t think of that , I’d say some are North Korean not most because those guys who jumped her treated her like a minority so they probably come across less North Koreans .
One hell of a cliffhanger, but I cant deny that i wish this "season" felt more complete though. Its coming across more like an artificial "Part 1" than a proper standalone season.
I felt the exact same way. Now from my understanding, they already shot season 3 and it could be dropped in March/April 2025, so it makes a lot more sense why there's such a big cliffhanger and still so many unresolved questions. Hopefully these statements are true though.
@@MaishaOnTop I think it should be release in the first half of the year too, so once season 3 is out, this could still be a really solid Part 1 and 2!
It was Netflix's decision to split it apparently. The director said that he had a plan for a 13 episode season but Netflix decided to split it into two.
Because people don’t understand that season 2 it’s really 14 episodes. But they decided to divide it in two seasons. That’s why people think is incomplete, because it is, the 2 part in the next and final season.
I guess probably one of my main negatives with this season was the whole island search subplot, mainly because the pacing felt pretty wonky at times, almost to the point that I sort of forgot about it.
As someone who just watched squid game for the first time two days ago and binged both seasons, this episode left me LITERALLY speechless, like how are we proceeding from here????
The director said that season three will take place in the future so I'm really curious now. I know the last couple games in this current games will be monkey bars and chess but I'm curious now we will proceed after. Bro could also just be messing with us though lmao
I love how Greg and John can disagree on something so pivotal, argue their respective positions but never belittle the others opinion. Or get offended that someone can have a different opinion then them.
Not really sure where Greg is coming from with this. I think he's (shockingly) missing the fact that people are being murdered in front of others every day. The money is obviously not as important as their lives to at least half of these people. Also, if their rebellion succeeds, the physical cash is all right there in the facility. They can just grab it if they win, with the added benefit of no one ever having to play the games again. Greg, watching the show takes priority over making jokes. Not wanting everyone to die during that night so they have players for the game has been made clear in both seasons.
Agree, thats why none of the 'O' joined the rebellion. The 'X' was convinced and motivated by Gi hun because they really want to leave. And when they think they got the chance, they grab it and fight for it.
Tbh I feel Greg’s perspective very deeply, I find the team’s motivation to rebel is lacking in plot. Arguably, I think if they try their best to kill off the O team, they’d have much a better chance of survival (and GUARANTEED price money), rather than fighting hundreds of trained guards with a very small team that’s average in combat. Granted, going after the “bad guys” is much better ethically than killing the O team… but that’s just Gi-Hun’s goal. I feel like the other players focus throughout the show are to just survive, get the money, and get out of there as fast as they can. Killing off the O team has more chance to reach that goal instead of fighting a much larger system. The writers don’t really highlight the players’ HATRED towards the game makers.
literally like half their team was ex-military to some degree. Average is an understatement. Gihuns been training for it for at least 2 years, one is ex ROK, two marines (given, they didnt know Dae-ho was either lacking actual experience or suffering from such heavy ptsd, so the odds seemed better at the time). And while it wasn't divulged, im pretty sure from In-hos 2v1 situation against Thanos that they knew he was a pretty good fighter. I feel like they probably would vibe a higher chance of success doing something they KNOW how to do versus a random ass game that they might be absolute shit at and die. I'll agree that they didnt really highlight their hatred so much, but also people are quick to follow someone they think has a good idea of whats going on. I doubt many people would be very rational at all in situations like those. So someone who's beaten the game before thats returned and been successful to that point would be pretty convincing. I agree with his comment of having one more episode to flesh that out though. I think an 8 episode 'half' season would have made more sense.
So the group being onboard with the plan made sense to me personally - it became clear from the moment the fight kicked off that the O voters were willing and able to kill the X voters to make sure the game continues. So it's clear to them there is no getting out of the game and taking a share of the money. The game was guaranteed to continue until the last man standing, so it was a choice of keep playing the games and die, or fight the masks and have a chance of getting out alive. Of course not everyone was onbosrd as well though which makes sense- some know they aren't skilled with guns and wouldn't stand a chance even if they approve of the plan, or they were the O voters who are against it but they're not going to go up against the guys who now have guns so they just plan to wait it out and hopefully some more competition dies.
To be honest, I feel Greg’s perspective very deeply, I find the team’s motivation to rebel is lacking in plot. But your comment does help me justify it. You highlighted a great point. Though arguably, I think if they try their best to kill off the O team, they’d have much a better chance of survival (and GUARANTEED price money), rather than fighting hundreds of trained guards with a very small team that’s average in combat. Granted, going after the “bad guys” is much better ethically than killing the O team… but that’s just Gi-Hun’s goal. I feel like the other players focus throughout the games are to just survive, get the money, and get out of there as fast as they can. Killing off the O team has more chance to reach that goal instead of fighting a much larger system. The writers don’t really highlight the players’ HATRED towards the game makers. I guess your argument is that the O team has a definite chance of winning the fight against X, that’s why out of desperation the X team agree with Gi-Hun’s plan. But I suppose that opens up the debate, if you’re one of the players, which one would you think has a better chance for your survival: trying to win against the O team in a dark room with limited weapon, or against hundreds of trained guards in an unfamiliar battlefield?
@@GoogleUser-wz1il I think you've got a point there, the chances of success are very slim going up against either the O team or the guards, but yes chances are likely to be much better with taking out the Os. The way I see it though, is there seems to be a certain moral threshold the X voters have that the O voters don't that's implied. I think the show frames the X and O voters as 'good guys bad guys' - obviously its not that simple but the show definitely wants to infer that from what we see. So while the O voters are very willing to murder other players for money, the X voters would prefer not to murder anyone - but being in the position they're in, it's like the lesser of two evils. The ones in control that were making them do this in the first place, kill each other over money, deserve to die more than the other players and would do a greater good overall. And it was only a handful of them that did go ahead with this plan which helps with the realism as well - I'm sure not every X voter felt the same and maybe would have preferred to just take their chances fighting back the O team hence why they didn't join. Just a few of them felt that strongly about it. But thats just my interpretation, your view is absolutely valid so I suppose it depends on what you think each of those characters had that kind of moral compass or not to justify it
@@varafaust2645 Great point!! You have great points that there are many factors that makes Gi-Hun's team feel like the O team is for sure going to kill them. With the X team having more women and elderlies, plus the O team being more "merciless" and "blood-thirsty" than X... it makes much more sense why they think Gi-Hun's plan is their last chance of survival! Thank you, you helped me justify the show.
Season 2 was just as enthralling! Loved having more investment in more diverse characters. The games were different but just as thrilling. Having the villain play somewhat a dark hero until the conclusion was epic!! For me another 10/10
Squid Game was originally only supposed to be 2 seasons but they filmed so many episodes for Season 2 that they split them into a Season 3, which will come out in 2025
Hello, I'm Korean. Kang Dae ho chose the Marine Corps. The Marine Corps in this movie is not a professional soldier, Korean men basically have to go to the army and can choose the army they want (Marine, Army, Air Force). So there is no such thing as a disgraceful discharge. He is just a Marine soldier who has been in the mandatory military for two years. So that's one of the reasons why most of the men in this movie know how to use guns. There might be a skittish guy like Kang Dae-ho because Korean guys know how to use guns, but they've never actually been to war. There's also speculation that this guy might not be a real Marine, but a spy. Because the scenario leads to misfortune because of this guy Also, there is an ambassador that Kang Dae-ho is the 1140th Marine Corps, and there was an 1140th shooting in Korea. That's why the man may have PTSD as the person who suffered the shooting. I'm sorry for my poor translation
And what happens to those who refuse to enter military service? Or to those who desist once they have entered? Do they put you in prison or do you have to pay a large fine? I ask because maybe there is an answer to Kang Dae's big debt, since we don't know why he entered the Squid Game.
@@martinplayz3887conscientious objectors (pacifists) do community service instead. Or the mentally/physically unfit. But those guys are forever marginalized in the workforce. Shared military suffering is a weird bonding thing for Korean males and also like a fraternity. They form connections, help each other get jobs after service, etc. in Korea they always ask you what unit you served in or what college you went to, because there’s a culture of favoritism and they treat their own better. So if a contractor was in your same unit, his business gets the job over a competitor. It’s not technically supposed to happen but it does. So without a record of service a male could find it very lonely in the business world. Even if he gets hired, others will get promoted over him.
@ Korean men can be exempt from the military if they are seriously ill or for certain reasons. Then we can replace them with not going to the military at all or doing social work for two years. But in no case (a person who is sick or honoring a country), if a Korean man refuses to serve in the military, he will be imprisoned. Korea even made Korean dramas about soldiers who sneak out of the military. (Drama name: DP) So, emotionally, all Korean men go to the military in their early 20s. Most Korean men go to school until the first year of college, then take a leave of absence from the second year and go to the army. And one of the many reasons why we have Kang Dae-ho can be a spy is what you said. The drama didn't show us why he got involved in the game. It is also possible that this man hides his shame from not going to the army by lying that he went to the Marines instead. Because most Korean men go to the army, it can be embarrassing for those who don't go to the army.
Gi Hun planned this because he predicted the ''O'' team will kill a lot of ''X'' team in the dark, so a fair voting would not take place. So, all of them would have to play the remaining games and die. Almost everyone would die in that process. But, if they rebel, more people could survive, if they manage to beat them and kill the captain. Its a greater good approach, which is morally questionable. But this was indeed the best approach, because they will die anyway while playing the games, but at least now they might win, or die doing the right thing, and not while playing the games those evil people orchestrated. People are not really understanding his reasons.
Also they make it really clear by saying "we have more woman and elderly" when the fight breaks more ppl on x side WILL die making it impossible to win the vote
Why did he assume the Os would kill more of the Xs? He just wanted to get to the organizers, tryna be a hero and ease his guilty conscience so he cld spend his money w/o guilt regardless of casualties. He shld have warned the Xs who wanted to be saved (the Os don't)& not just his group and also ensure they stay alert, like a counterattack, hoping that they'd end up with the majority vote. Instead, he allowed half to be slaughtered and led another set to be killed. Now, they're definitely in the minority.
@@Ria-wq9gu He knew because he saw the fork hidden inside the food. And something like this happened in the previous season too. That is the judgment he made. The O team was ready to kill for money. The X team wasn't. They would have lost the fight in the dark. Those who are saying he wanted to play the hero have the most shallow interpretation of his character. Gi Hun wanted to save people. He took a chance. He put faith in humanity and got betrayed again. If thats stupid and playing the hero, then we are same. Because we would have done the same in his position. Otherwise, the villain 001 becomes right. Because according to him humanity is so bad that they will always choose evil. Greed and death over what is right. What you are saying proves the villain in the story right.
I like to think of S2 and S3 as one long season split up. Where S2 cut off is the equivalent of the conclusion of the tug o war game. So "Gganbu/Ali" episode hasn't happened yet, or the Saebyuk episode, which I think we might get around E3 -E4 of S3.
there is something some pointed out you can see the triangle to change there aim sight to lower and bit different side from the orginal what was aimed at heart
The actor is really popular and he hasn't had a lot of screen time in this season, so I guess he is coming back next season. Also, if he is really dead, is a lost opportunity to develop him and 011 arc 🤔
I'm guessing that was soldier 11, and maybe she shot him with a blank or in a way he can survive. But she'll have to hide him in her room (or something) because he can't rejoin the game after being "eliminated." I'm sure he's not dead because the storyline for him and 11 didn't get enough time yet.
He clearly still alive. They wouldn't build up the connection from 246 and no. 11 from the start if that would not be important. Man no. 11 been closely monitoring 246 the moment she realizes he is sick kid dad.
@@rosekyo I want to believe that, but I also have this thought what if there is a twist that at the end of season 3 where Gi-Hun succeeded in ending the games or, so we are led to believe. But the very last scene we see 011 who we thought was having a change of heart because she saves the father somehow, being the new recruiter showing us, the game still lives on.
The frontman wanted to take gi hoon as far as he could without jeopardising the operations then cut gi hoon off at the knees , totally demoralising gi hoon. As you saw , he said "look at the price of your heroism" (or something like that) . He's a brutal guy.
42:57 Greg I hear you but are you saying the stakes of seeing all these people killed was not enough to make some people change their minds. Particularly because exactly what he said would happen did. I am with John on this.
Ming su failing at throwing a bottle was the most depressing event of season 2 for me. Dude absolutely whiffed it and ended watching the only girl who watched out for him get Fork stabbed 😢
I'm not sure they worry about the money at this moment because the money is literally in the place with them... In the piggybank soooo... They can take it AFTER 🤣 It's not imaginary money in an account they can't have access to. It's pretty easy to take when they have won... and probably the rest. In fact, I'm pretty confused why they never have a mutinerie before...
Yeah, of course, but it's not the point of my comment. I don't even agree with GiHun's plan by the way, money or not, it seemed rather vain to me... I just explained why I don't think money is a sticking point when THEY are deciding what to do in this episode, because this part seems to bother Greg, and for me, there's no reason to be septic here. They just decide to play the game a different way, with money or death always on the line. And the "they will fight themselves to death" is not really a new thing. It's literally what they suppose to do in fact... one way or another.
@@RohitKumar-vp3kqMy theory is he did went to the marines cause his dad made him but he never really was about that life he may have had a hard time in it/wasnt good so when push came to shove here he just couldnt do it
Greg, I think your point about the season not feeling like a build up to an armed rebellion is intentional. From what In-Ho said at the end, this was all Gi-Hun wanting to play hero. He let his anger and pride cloud his judgment and was not acting in the best interest of other people. He got people killed because he wanted to live out his revenge fantasy.
100% , the rebellion wasnt even a team decision . he told them it had to happen and the followed . they didnt even participate in the decision making it was only him and the frontman
Gi Hun planned this because he predicted the ''O'' team will kill a lot of ''X'' team in the dark, so a fair voting would not take place. I honestly don't get why he's so hung up on it. The show never shows the majority of contestants unifying to rebel with Gi Hun. It's mostly people that he worked with during the games and some redshirts. Hyun Joo and 246 are exceptions, and the former is explained by Hyun Joo seeing the person kindest to her get gunned down by the organisers (not the Os). 246 is barely a character outside of being a wrinkle for No Eul. The reason it had to happen now isn't just some contrived pacing thing, but because this was the best opportunity to be in close proximity to the soldiers. What's shown in this episode is the fallout of precisely what happens when you force a direction without support on your side. This season started with the premise that Gi Hun could show the game organisers that humanity could be better like he did Oh Il Nam at the end of Season 1. He failed to protect everyone in the first game, failed to convince people to vote to leave 3 times (partly In-ho's doing), now failed with the rebellion. It's precisely where a season should be at the end of a second act. The problem isn't an unearned rebellion, but that the series has been advertised as having a Season 2 and 3, rather than a Season 2 Part 1 and 2.
this is so wrong it actually hurts. you are literally agreeing with the main villain of the series which should give you some pause. Gi-Hun's plan was literally the only chance they had at making it out alive. they were going to lose the next vote, and there is no way in hell that more than one person was going to "win" the games
I liked that this season is about the Games being more about a revolution against the “established order” and why the most earnest ones suffer from compromises; Gi-Hun forfeiting loyalists to gain a tactical advantage is an appropriately dark turn HOWEVER, I could have used more scenes earlier in the show demonstrating the respect he earns maybe even of both Os and Xs in order to dramatize the weight of sacrificing some by intentionally leaving them unprepared for the Os assault; the games 3 years ago showed some players advancing because of the willing sacrifice of others, but rationalized or not Gi-Hun is letting some Xs get killed to throw his rebellion
Everyone is talking about Thanos, but I think his buddy that took the drugs is also a great character. The actor did a splendid job portraying a greasy little slimeball of a person. Everyone did well though, honestly. I wish they made the season a little bit longer....now I have to wait for season 3 :(
majority of westerners are saying that the fighting scene is rigged and how come Koreans in the drama are afraid of dieing in the drama but when they start fire fighting they act like special forces? You gotta know that all Korean men go mandatory military for 3 years these days it has been shortened but the actors ages in their mid 40s and above were 3 years. It is not just regular military training like other countries but koreans train the most vigorous training in preperation for war when invaded by NK! we host war games, physical training to survive by beat downs, weapons training etc. hell walks for thousands of km every quater, special martial arts training intention to kill(not your average TKD), all men are combat TKD 2nd degree blackbelts before their discharge, and soldiers stationed near the dmz put their lives everyday in patrolling the dmz where constant boobytraps, mines claymores are hidden and detonated by the NK on a regular basis. Such training for war has made korean men so fierce in which when korean men after military service gets into a brawl on the streets they try to kill each other so to prevent these happenings they rather call the police rather than shed blood and get into trouble. Lool what happened to Johnnie Somali in Korea! He still is in Korea and can't get out of the country and constantly gets beat downs by Koreans. Even our parents age in their mid 70s and 80s knows how to fire a m16 and ak47 they were the last soldiers to fight the communist after even the US pulled out during the Vietnam war. After military mandatory service, all men have to undergo national guard for 10 years in which they undergo shooting and war game exercises monthly. Regular ROK forces militarty training compared to other nations are similar to special forces training in their nations. All men actors here in this drama have served in the military during the past ages. don't be deceived by the smiles and politeness that Koreans give to foreigners but squid games clearly shows the reality of Korea and what people we are.
"They're all trained to know how to use guns???" Yes, mandatory service in South Korean army will do that to ya. Someone's gotta tell Greg before next season. I think he took the writer making characters out to be Mary Sue's, when it's literally a national requirement for men to know how to fire guns during compulsory service.
I thought it was interesting how the battle played out exactly like a video game. Video games are still largely considered for children/teens, so it's like they were saying that even this was a part of the Squid Games. Children leave behind their simple games as they grow and exchange them for more complex ones. Here, by rebelling, they were taking the game to the next level. It seems to tie into one of the show's central thesis's - that the games we play as children, then teens, then young adults, they all train us to submit to society's Squid Game as adults.
That’s a great point. I can totally see what you’re saying. It did feel like it went from early childhood games to COD/FPS real fast. It’s how we change games as we grow up as well. Not everybody plays the M/PEGI 18 stuff but everyone knows about it.
the reason the Frontman goes so hard to drive home his point to Gi-hoon is because they're really mirror of each other. they were both poor, had to play the games, won, but came out of the games with completely opposing ideals. if the game haunted Gi-hoon so much that he wanted to get back in to stop it, I imagine it's also still haunting the Frontman. so if he let Gi-hoon be right, that's gonna be flipping his whole world upside down. in fact you can see 001 having crisis of belief several times in the game.
Yeah. I feel like we got hints of his pre-Squid Game self at times. There were points where it felt like an MLK/Malcolm X idea swap was gonna happen - Gi Hun was becoming more cynical of the world but Jung-Bae’s presence held him together (at least until the finale); and In-Ho seemed to have points where he’d forget he’s pretending to be a player until the games occur or Gi Hun’s in full rebellion mode. (Emphasis on seemed because it’s obvious he’s trying to get Gi-Hun’s optimism to crack) It really stood out to me with the GQ interview the lead actors and the creator did for a recap of season 1 and they pointed out that Gi Hun’s reactions are very childlike from the horse race win to watching a kid win a crane game on his behalf. That childlike nature almost disappeared if not for Il Nam’s final bet.
It was so interesting and tense watching Gi Hun spill out his plan to take the whole Squid Game down right in front of the front man without even knowing it! I knew everything wouldn't be taken down in this last episode but i was still hoping Gi Hun would see the front man without his mask! Oh well Season 2 was just half of the rest i can't wait for the insane final half in season 3! Thank god its not long at all til season 3 rather than another 3 years
Yeah it was really fascinating! He was talking abt capturing the guy to this guy! lol. If only he knew the Front Man himself was there... Although my prediction is Gi Hun will see the Front Man's face at the end... I cannot wait to see how they end this story!
that end credit scene is not just a green light for s3 :) that's a trail track. doesn't it make you think of the trolley problem? this whole season is a trolley problem actually.
Gi Hun didn't need to spend time getting other people on board with his plan, because it was implicity understood that if they take over the facility and end the games, they would then have access to all the money in the facility which they can distribute evenly to the survivors
The special game was the Frontman teaching Giham a lesson at the expense of his friends. It also has the secondary value of getting rid of a lot of the people who wanted to vote out of the next game. Now the chances of leaving by vote are slim.
The best thing about this season is that it wasn’t a replay of season one. If you think back to season one, we really did not know much about the characters. The focus was on the games and how the characters were surviving the games. Character development was not as deep as season 2. For the story to evolve and maintain our interest, it had to delve more deeply into the characters. The voting process was part of the drama. I appreciated that. I do love a show that keeps you hanging. Especially when there is a season 3 around the corner. The story writing and the performances were amazing. I hope the ending gives us the closure we need.🤞 😃 💙 and 🩷 = 💜 got to love the set design ! So smart 😊
the main issue most people have with season 2 is seeing it as a separate season from season 3. Technically yes, but that's only true on a technicality. For all intents and purpose, Season 2 and Season 3 is one season. Let go of the false pretense and false expectations. Don't make assumptions and solutions based on half a season.
Special game was the fight between the players where they do the strobe lights and thin out the herd before the vips arrive.. its a call back from s1.. they did the same thing
So insanely proud of Hyun-ju for stepping up the way she did. Always suspected the young marine was kind of full of poop but wanted to believe him. I’m hoping we get an explanation early next season of why he froze up so bad. Aside from being human and being terrified. Can’t wait to get home and watch this in full and hear your thoughts.
Daeho the marine boy is definitely a deserter. Most of the time when they try to talk about his marine life he'd just distract them with something else.
32:04 This is a great parallel to season 1 when they did this same shot after Sang Woo killed Sae Byoek, great way to end the season even if they shouldn’t have split it up
The music that plays in the end struck me hard because it sounds very similar to the track that played when Saebyuk died ;_; there's even a parallel of Gi-hun sobbing as he's being pinned down by the pink soldiers.
They rebelled with 456 because the number of O's was greater than X's. This means they were going to play another game, which included the possibility of dying, and as his friend said, rebelling was a chance to get out alive.
I am, I don't want player 120 to die I want her to live she was badass, Park sung-hoon did amazing job playing this role , no offense to gi hun he don't deserve to lie because how can he not know that player 1 was front man I mean didn't he learn his lesson about the old man in season 1 ,again I want player 120 to live alive
let's all not forget the fact, that all of these characters, all of these poor people, suffering enslavement, torture, abuse, extortion, and whatever capital crime you can think of, .... ALL OF THEM, got to this situation by their own doing, completely aware of the rules, and this would be the second time this happens for some of them.
16:10 it’s not about them building to “I hate these people; we have to take them out.” They realized that they were going to be forced to keep playing and would most likely die with nothing. They’re choosing the possibility of living by taking over the game. That’s why Gihun allowing sacrifice is so extra fucked because it kinda forces rebellion participation since they definitely don’t have the votes.
According to gregalba concerns He felt it was a let down because the players that choose X forgot about the money and just wanted to takeover the organisation But here is the thing if u watch the episode 7 the players who picked X had more women and elderly so there know if there don't come up with a plan then the player O will almost completely k*ll most of them and even push them further to play the game which will make them d*e more So yes there was a reason to choosing overtaking the system as the only option and again the money was in the building so if there did succeed taking over the guards there would have taken the money too because it was right ontop of their heads
I wish they'd called it Season 2 - part 1. I was initially left deflated, but upon second viewing,I appreciate it more. They couldn't just replicate season 1, so this was an interesting route to take. I hope the brother gets more in season 3, the boat-stuff was a little superfluous, so I'm hoping it leads to something epic. Overall, it is still a phenomenal show. Glad season 3 is dropping in 2025 and not in 12 months lol
To me, like the old Oh Il-nam, Young Ill was just putting a show for the VIPs, "a rebellion", on top of just trying to demoralize Gi-Hun, and I believe Gi-Hun is not treated as a trash like everyone else, he is somehow a VIP too
WTF you mean with "Is that the special game?" the special game is just the night. The fight and killing. They didn't expected the attack... except the frontman that was infiltrated.
2:12 pause, look at the walls. Stick figures hanging from the roof and then a board game with crosses. Is this foreshadowing the 2 next games in season 3? Also main character never noticed this in the first season either so maybe not a goof to look for the walls for game hints. 29:52 still only shows those 2 games on the walls.
Korean men are obliged to serve in military for 2 years.. This type of unexpected scenario, for those who think is are implausible, actually happened in 1992 in LA RIOT.
I'm glad Daeho did not come back because he and Hyun Ju will die. Yes, I know they still have a chance if he comes back, and the battle will last longer, but even though they kill many guards, there are still a lot of them. As I said, they will end up like Gihun's best friend.
ive seen a lot of people hate this season but honestly i LOVED it. only thing i dont like is the massive cliffhanger LOL but i really hope s3 will be released early next year since its already filmed
Greg... use your brain. If they kill all the people running the games they can just take the entire 46 billion and split that with all the survivors. They'd actually end up with more money to split plus gi-hun said he would help them out those that support him
Please be respectful with your how you state your argument. You make a good point that rebelling will benefit the players motivation to get the money and survive. But my argument is what feels lacking is the CHANCE of Gi-Hun’s plan succeeding. Arguably, if I’m one of the X team… if they try their best to kill off the O team, they’d have much a better chance of survival (and GUARANTEED price money), rather than fighting hundreds of trained guards with a very small team that’s average in combat.
I get what you're saying about the revolt, but I think it was always one of Gi-Hun's options, and the only people who took part were the people who wanted to leave, and they would've already been worried by the votes going against them, plus the aggression from the people who wanted to stay. I think it's a fair point about the one more episode though before the revolt regarding the other characters. Overall, this season was always going to struggle to live up to Season 1, but I felt they did the right thing by not just going for more gruesome, more games. The deeper dive on the characters worked for me. If this were a standalone season, it'd be great stuff. A lot of good things in here, but the key was the Front Man's role. As this is a game, it seems he probably pitched it to the VIPs as an intriguing element. I wasn't 100% convinced by the shootout, but I think the ending justified it as a pay-off. As the sequel to a phenomenon, it was always going to be difficult, but I'm pretty impressed.
I felt the transition to Gihun’s rebellion was good. I think it just should have spent more time in him focusing on gathering more people to his true cause and not sacrifice a large number of people, who were already wanting to get out of the game and tried more to recruit them, or at least let them know to go ahead and defend themselves during the attack, because the plan would have still worked and he probably would of had more people volunteer.
I understand the mixed reactions to SG2 but I honestly loved it. It wasn't a total repeat of season 1. It was a good natural progression and just as dramatic.
Throughout history we’ve seen individuals motivate followers to join their cause, with no real justification. From the beginning Gi-hun is motivated by his revenge, anger, and guilt…by doing so he is blinded by that ambition and leads his followers to certain death. I think that might have been the point of this entire season. Gi-hun is not the hero he believes he is, because the only way to truly end the game is to sacrifice others for the “greater good,” which ultimately is exactly what Squid Game is.
according to FORBES, season 2 and 3 were in production at the same time. other sources are assuming season 3 will come out between sept - december 2025... on par with the first season (sept) and second season (december)
my take on the 011 guard lady is that she's someone who was on her way to being desensitized to the violence and cruelty, but still tried to hold onto some of her own principles. by the end she was completely subjected to the system and let all that go, so she faded into the background like any other faceless guards so we never see her again.
what the confusion with the money ? the money is in the room with them . if they win against the frontman which they believed they will they could just take the money . again gihun made that decision alone , the oyhers just followed because they were told it was the only option .
I’m shocked so many are lost on Why the creator helped Gi-hun and to me it was so clear but to explain a bit The creator is having a Moral war with Gi-hun, the creator wants to prove that what he is doing isn’t wrong because everyone is choosing it and they will always choose this The first example of him trying to prove this was Changing the rules so that even if you vote to leave you still get money which will matter later Then later when the vote is up to the creator but unknowingly to gihun he votes to continue the game, to gi-hun this made it seem as if truly the majority will choose to play even if you still get rewarded for leaving As to why he helped with the rebellion well it was to make it seem hopeless, he wanted Gi-hun to believe he was making progress during the battle because it needed to seem real and not planned by The creator which is was,Gi-hun said it himself “this is our only chance” he needed to make GI-hun think he naturally lost and genuinely and it wasn’t because the creator planned it. think about it everytime Gi hun had a plan it seemed to be countered by a new game, all to further The creators point He’s offering a chance and they are choosing to play
for me one thing I thought was kinda stupid, the Os trying to sneak attack the X side, and they go walking through the big light O in the floor, the only place w light that would allow the other side to see them aproaching, like go around dumbass lmao
Yeah,go around the side....in the dark...where you can't see anything, that'll work to your advantage 😂😂 the X's had more old folks and females, the O's weren't particularly afraid to sneak attack through the light.
@@pamoweiberezi5315 then simply just go running instead of slow and silent lmao, plus yea u can see in the dark a bit, u know the direction already and where most ppl are
@nukexd6120 what difference would running make?🤣 They were gonna kill them regardless, they had more able bodied people on their side.... It's like in game of thrones, before the battle of the bastards, Ramsey told Jon snow he had more horses, more men, he would win regardless of strategy
I definitely see the fuel for a lot of potential for 011 to go rogue, for Gi Hun to feel defeated, for Jun Ho to have to finally confront his brother, and whatever scary monkey bars game is being shown on the wall. I wonder if since 16 episodes is the Kdrama standard the final season will have 9 episodes which will leave more time to end everything. I think it was great!
*Special games* literally happened in the 1st season, in literally the exact same way.. what do you mean you dont know what they are?! There was too little food then aswell, hunger makes people homesick sure.. it makes them angry too. Which is the important part, as seen in literally the first season. When the special games were introduced! And? What was the point?!? A bunch of Xses died so the games can continue for one.. how did you miss that? Secondly, Gi-Hun became a failed hero. Thats good for the Games, and fun for VIPs Also.. as brought by others? The boat captain and his friend is definitely involved in the organ trafficking.
I don’t think I can explain the excitement I felt watching the players revolt. People kept saying the ending was bad, but I feel like for a shorter season with a 3rd on the way sooner than season 2 came, it felt good

Yup. I assumed that was end goal the whole time. Give 456 hope and than absolutely destroy him by putting all of the his blood on his hands.

The Boat captain is the same boat they refer to when delivering organs.. thats why he was there to pull the cop from the waters because he was there picking up organs to deliver. So all the years driving him around not finding the island he knew where it was the entire time
I didn't even realized that. I suspected that the boat captain is the traitor since the series showed several times how much information he gets about the plan, but it now makes even more sense why it's him who's the traitor.
felt confident about that one
I've kinda suspected him the entire time because after two years he'd be able to find the Island again if he wanted to.
It never made sense that he the detective would have floated that far away from the Island and that the search radius would be so large.
And he was probably sent by the front man to rescue him rather than him randomly finding him in the sea.
Hyun ju was badass and carrying the team. Glad she still alive.

She was one of my fav's since Red Light Green Light when she helped Gi-Hun try and rescue the injured player.

Also, after the shy girl broke down during the voting, that really affected Hyunju and played in her turning point of wanting to leave
@@t0rokidon't they still go through training before being assigned? Whether active duty oe an office?
@@t0roki but they will all have basic training first , so yeah most will know how to hold a gun . Maybe not all the guns however a gun nonetheless

What I learned from this show is you can never trust 001😂 A crazy finale with a brutal cliffhanger, Can't wait for season 3 finale 🙌🙌🙌
Because that’s exactly what it is. They divided 14 episodes in two seasons but it’s basically season 2 part 1 and part 2.
I think that may be the point.
It was Netflix's decision to split it apparently. The director said that he had a plan for a 13 episode season but Netflix decided to split it into two.
I enjoyed this season, don't get the hate for it. Can't wait to see the final part!
Because people don’t understand that season 2 it’s really 14 episodes. But they decided to divide it in two seasons. That’s why people think is incomplete, because it is, the 2 part in the next and final season.

Most of the complaints were about the lack of games? Which is odd to me because it isn’t a games show, its a kdrama
Part 2 will come out soon. We have 6 or seven more episodes and it’s the finale I can’t wait
Omg same here
I love how Greg and John can disagree on something so pivotal, argue their respective positions but never belittle the others opinion. Or get offended that someone can have a different opinion then them.
This episode was crazy!! Can’t wait for season 3
29:57 the special game is when the players attacked each other, just like in the 1st season
This, like, the money is literally right there if they take over the facility and potentially more. especially if VIP's happen to be there.
literally like half their team was ex-military to some degree.
Never trust 001😂
Gi hun didn't learn his lesson, dumbass,
Im shocked that happened twice and he never even considered young ill was a spy once.
Fr
apparently the old man in season 1 player 001 is the father of player 001 (the front man) I don't know if it's true but strange
…and always count on 11 😂
So the group being onboard with the plan made sense to me personally - it became clear from the moment the fight kicked off that the O voters were willing and able to kill the X voters to make sure the game continues.
@martinplayz3887 refusing usually does lead to jail yes 2-3 years
@@martinplayz3887 you can be sentenced to prison for up to three years
Once again we had a player 001 living his best life and having a blast. And he was able to reduce payroll costs for this game.
capitalism wins again
Wonder if 001 is always an insider.
@shockwave1126 Maybe this Front Man got the job because in the game he won, he killed the former Front Man.
People are not really understanding his reasons.
it's actually insane how many people don't get this
Also they make it really clear by saying "we have more woman and elderly" when the fight breaks more ppl on x side WILL die making it impossible to win the vote
@@LMarti13 A lot of people get it. It's just Greg who has the "microphone" is amplified in his thoughts about this.
What you are saying proves the villain in the story right.
rooting for Hyun Ju in season 3 my favorite character this season
frrr
The first season was more emotional for me. Wont deny I shed a few tears. Second season I got a little misty eyed but no tears.
I like to think of S2 and S3 as one long season split up. Where S2 cut off is the equivalent of the conclusion of the tug o war game. So "Gganbu/Ali" episode hasn't happened yet, or the Saebyuk episode, which I think we might get around E3 -E4 of S3.
They didn't show us if the guy with the sick daughter dead 100%, i'm being delusional maybe but I'm praying he is still alive i love him ;-;
there is something some pointed out you can see the triangle to change there aim sight to lower and bit different side from the orginal what was aimed at heart
"You can buy me a Soju when we get out." - 001 heard them talk about soju when he was pretending to sleep.
Am I nuts? I thought the rebellion and the cliffhanger were obvious. To me, almost everything made sense.
No you aren’t nuts lol. I’m with you
The frontman wanted to take gi hoon as far as he could without jeopardising the operations then cut gi hoon off at the knees , totally demoralising gi hoon.
Technically, most korean men are ex-military lol. This episode kinda reminds me of rooftop Koreans
Ming su failing at throwing a bottle was the most depressing event of season 2 for me. Dude absolutely whiffed it and ended watching the only girl who watched out for him get Fork stabbed 😢
Dude was a loser and proved how much of a loser he was.
And contestant will just let others to take money no they will fight themselves to death especially one with higher debt
With you saying that, I honestly don't know why they didn't take one of the guns and just hit the piggy bank with one of the bullets
Daeho is like Upham from saving private ryan lmao. He was told to get an extra magazine but he never came back.

So, all of them would have to play the remaining games and die. Almost everyone would die in that process. People are not really understanding his reasons.
I liked that this season is about the Games being more about a revolution against the “established order” and why the most earnest ones suffer from compromises; Gi-Hun forfeiting loyalists to gain a tactical advantage is an appropriately dark turn
HOWEVER, I could have used more scenes earlier in the show demonstrating the respect he earns maybe even of both Os and Xs in order to dramatize the weight of sacrificing some by intentionally leaving them unprepared for the Os assault; the games 3 years ago showed some players advancing because of the willing sacrifice of others, but rationalized or not Gi-Hun is letting some Xs get killed to throw his rebellion
I really hope hyunju survives in the next season. She is an amazing character in every aspect

@@CJ-nu7dp He has a UA-cam channel. People are going to give criticism
"They're all trained to know how to use guns???"
Yes, mandatory service in South Korean army will do that to ya.
Not everybody plays the M/PEGI 18 stuff but everyone knows about it.
wait I love this point
the reason the Frontman goes so hard to drive home his point to Gi-hoon is because they're really mirror of each other. they were both poor, had to play the games, won, but came out of the games with completely opposing ideals. if the game haunted Gi-hoon so much that he wanted to get back in to stop it, I imagine it's also still haunting the Frontman. so if he let Gi-hoon be right, that's gonna be flipping his whole world upside down. in fact you can see 001 having crisis of belief several times in the game.
(Emphasis on seemed because it’s obvious he’s trying to get Gi-Hun’s optimism to crack)
It really stood out to me with the GQ interview the lead actors and the creator did for a recap of season 1 and they pointed out that Gi Hun’s reactions are very childlike from the horse race win to watching a kid win a crane game on his behalf.
Oh well
Season 2 was just half of the rest i can't wait for the insane final half in season 3!
I really respect you guys watching all this back to back to back your hard to work does not go unnoticed, thank you guys for keeping us entertained!
Gi Hun didn't need to spend time getting other people on board with his plan, because it was implicity understood that if they take over the facility and end the games, they would then have access to all the money in the facility which they can distribute evenly to the survivors
This episode made so much sense no wonder Greg is getting roasted lol
There's an end credits where Thanos survived cause he got the Infinity Drugs 😂
jsyk fellas every man in south Korea has mandatory military service. so that's why a lot of them are good shots.
The special game was the Frontman teaching Giham a lesson at the expense of his friends. It also has the secondary value of getting rid of a lot of the people who wanted to vote out of the next game. Now the chances of leaving by vote are slim.
Gi-hun got betrayed by another Player 001 😭😭
Oh! God! We need season 3 urgently. Please give it to us quickly.
I hope the ending gives us the closure we need.🤞 😃

Just watched the previous episode and refreshed the page and got the final 😂
the main issue most people have with season 2 is seeing it as a separate season from season 3. Technically yes, but that's only true on a technicality. For all intents and purpose, Season 2 and Season 3 is one season. Let go of the false pretense and false expectations. Don't make assumptions and solutions based on half a season.
hyun ju is my favorite character in anything this year. im obsessed.
Special game was the fight between the players where they do the strobe lights and thin out the herd before the vips arrive.. its a call back from s1.. they did the same thing
All men go to military in south korea cuz of their system. So it’s not strange for them to know how to use a gun.
I suspect he never saw actual combat since he's so young. I would very much like it to be that, but I feel like he's lying which would suck.
@ I’m hoping that, too. Something like, he joined the marines and went through boot camp but never saw combat.
@@StardustandMadness PTSD
He looked terrified at the sound of gunfire. Its probably PTSD.
Who’s hyped for the final season? 🤘
@@markcraftsameee!!! Such a badass
let's all not forget the fact, that all of these characters, all of these poor people, suffering enslavement, torture, abuse, extortion, and whatever capital crime you can think of, .... ALL OF THEM, got to this situation by their own doing, completely aware of the rules, and this would be the second time this happens for some of them.
This was great season and your reaction was awesome!! Cannot wait for season 3😊
Not a shocker that the guy who wasn’t paying attention doesn’t understand what is happening lol long hair guy gets it but not curls
According to gregalba concerns
He felt it was a let down because the players that choose X forgot about the money and just wanted to takeover the organisation
But here is the thing if u watch the episode 7 the players who picked X had more women and elderly so there know if there don't come up with a plan then the player O will almost completely k*ll most of them and even push them further to play the game which will make them d*e more
So yes there was a reason to choosing overtaking the system as the only option and again the money was in the building so if there did succeed taking over the guards there would have taken the money too because it was right ontop of their heads
31:02 I’m pretty sure that’s 011 and she shot him in a non vital area
That’s what I thought too.
yes thats her triangle
Non vital in the chest?
stop reaching, he’s dead lol.

Was that not on the walls before?
@GoogleUser-wz1il it's his job to sit there and watch the TV but more times than not he's either being too obnoxious to pay attention.
The actor playing 001 is so good that I'm actually rooting for him instead of 456.
Season 3 is 2025 so we won’t have to wait long at all
Throughout history we’ve seen individuals motivate followers to join their cause, with no real justification.

The creator is having a Moral war with Gi-hun, the creator wants to prove that what he is doing isn’t wrong because everyone is choosing it and they will always choose this
The first example of him trying to prove this was Changing the rules so that even if you vote to leave you still get money which will matter later
Then later when the vote is up to the creator but unknowingly to gihun he votes to continue the game, to gi-hun this made it seem as if truly the majority will choose to play even if you still get rewarded for leaving
As to why he helped with the rebellion well it was to make it seem hopeless, he wanted Gi-hun to believe he was making progress during the battle because it needed to seem real and not planned by The creator which is was,Gi-hun said it himself “this is our only chance” he needed to make GI-hun think he naturally lost and genuinely and it wasn’t because the creator planned it.
think about it everytime Gi hun had a plan it seemed to be countered by a new game, all to further The creators point
He’s offering a chance and they are choosing to play
for me one thing I thought was kinda stupid, the Os trying to sneak attack the X side, and they go walking through the big light O in the floor, the only place w light that would allow the other side to see them aproaching, like go around dumbass lmao
Yeah,go around the side....in the dark...where you can't see anything, that'll work to your advantage 😂😂
the X's had more old folks and females, the O's weren't particularly afraid to sneak attack through the light.
Thats good for the Games, and fun for VIPs
Also.. as brought by others?
The boat captain and his friend is definitely involved in the organ trafficking.
Player 120 really went from barbie to Rambo bro's sniping them
There will be S3 in 2025!
I don’t think I can explain the excitement I felt watching the players revolt. People kept saying the ending was bad, but I feel like for a shorter season with a 3rd on the way sooner than season 2 came, it felt good
I’m with you 🤝
