    You are mixing Rumba Columbia steps to Bachata.

      And Afro-Cuban palo too...

    • @LaSuerteDanceSchool
      @LaSuerteDanceSchool  3 роки тому

      It wasn't intentional. Tap & go is a typical bachata step - it looks a bit like Palo. Fast footworks are obviously also very characteristic for Dominican bachata, and also for Rumba Columbia. I like Afro, If you check our other videos, you will see, that we do a lot of it here, and we will do even more in the future.
      All of these dances come from the same root, so it's a bit difficult to not to find some similarities :)

      @@LaSuerteDanceSchool Thank you for te reply. Are you sure it is typical Bacahata given the huge Cuban cultural influence in the region - usually downplayed? I am in the midst of that reserach.

      It's a topic for an extremely long and deep discussion :)
      In the shortest... Bachata, as a dance and a musical genre, is quite new (if we put it next to son or rumba). Modern bachata is definitely a fusion of many styles. When it comes to music, I spoke to Cuban musicians, who say, that bachata comes from son and bolero. The bongo pattern in bachata - martillo - comes directly from son, the bass pattern is the same as a basic low drum pattern in guaguanco, guira plays very often identical to maracas in cha cha cha. You can find a lot of similarities. Obviously, all the patterns have variations, so you can't just say it's all the same. In the end, everybody can distinguish bachata from other Latin styles.
      Many Latin and South American dances have the same roots, but it's very difficult to tell which was first.
      We can simply enjoy all of them :)

      @@LaSuerteDanceSchool Yes, that is exactly the argument that It is a rather new form. Cubans call it a "bolero acelerado" :) And sure, there are lots to discuss when it comes to those forms regardless of their undisputable common origin. But one thing is certain, after 1959, most cultural forms formerly considered a Cuban identifier have been strategically appropriated.
