It's fascinating to think that due to the displacement and human activity of westward expansion, Pinnated Grouse--which were not endemic to Nebraska--ended up finding their latest stronghold in a place which was historically the land of their cousin, the Sharp-Tail Grouse. How sad that we've lost so much of once was and so much of the American population have no clue how important this bird was to the cultivation and development of society in the Midwest.
Let’s try and educate them! The most extraordinary part of upland birds in my opinion is their ability to rebound. To me there’s always hope if we continue to move more habitat back into sustainable states for wildlife.
A love song to the Sandhills. I was there once, and got a double on sharptails. No other bird hunt compares, and the topography of that place is written on my heart. Read Mari Sandoz if you don't believe me how special this place is -- and the Niobrara.
It gets tough. The birds group together in huge flocks. I've pass shot lots that time of year as they come out of the hills into the ag zones. But, late season you can add pheasants and quail. The Sandhills are my happy place
video footage was great. narrative was a little too deep and sentimental. but then again maybe I'm just used to waterfowl videos where it's all about killing and rock and roll. Interesting to see how the vibes and music is different in the video depending on what's being hunted. I don't get it. Again, great video footage!
As much as we love to hunt upland and the being out on prairie, I'd be careful not to attribute Biblical words to a secular sport. There is but one who can deliver Salvation and it is the Savior Jesus Christ & not anything else. May I add one other thing; hunting or the outdoors cannot fill the God created hole that only He Himself can fill.
I love that place we went during mid COVID and we're the only ones there for a week, it was great....
Very cool. Love and miss my homeland. The Sandhills are my happiest place

Was that a tick you got off the leg? or some type of sticker? It looked huge lol
Great music through video, who’s the artist?
We use the music site Soundstripe.com The score is a compilation of several different artists that specialize in music for films.
Is the hunting there still good in late November, early December?
