Civ 5 AI Only Timelapse: Bloody Canyon

- This time AI's will fight in really extreme conditions, they don't have enough space for maneuvers and large armies, exploration is practically impossible, and every neighbor can suddenly become an irresistible power. Trapped empires like snakes devour each other, trying to absorb more and more to grow stronger and bigger than anybody else, but even biggest snake must be afraid of the awakened dragon.
I used Community Patch (global modification of AI and bug fix) forums.civfana... for this battle.
Music: Marcin Przybyłowicz - Blood and Wine, Rupert Gregson-Williams - Air Traffic Control
I laughed so hard when the Mongols revives and the only strong unit they can muster is a chariot archer, while everyone else have tanks and guns
God damn Denmark!
They were fighting 4 different fronts and NEARLY managed to win!
Even when the Japanese Great Wall kept the Danish from making any considerable gains into the heartland, and even at the war in 3:12 where China, Rome, and Japan all were fighting Denmark, they still managed to survive and get air superiority before the others can, pushing back against China and Japan
Hats off to Denmark, they put up a damned good fight!
I did NOT see that coming! China was pretty much inert for most of the game, then suddenly ate Rome's neighbors and Rome itself soon after and proceeded to steamroll the whole map!
Japan really held there own against the Danes. The Great Wall makes a ton of difference. If not for Japan holding out for so long against Denmark, Denmark likely would have conquered China early.
Japan had 4 fronts, it wasn't easy.
Ξενοφώντας Σούλης you mean the Danes
Do you not know how to spell *their* properly? Go back to school, twelve year old.
Holy shit
I just witnessed an AI-Japan LIBERATE someone
AI liberation isn't that rare. For example, see the "Lakes of Destruction" AI battle at ua-cam.com/video/R67Aauo0lJo/v-deo.html wherein Carthage liberates cities around 5 times or so.
@@Oiltuber yea but japan is one of the most militaristic focused and therefore less likely to liberate
Sokhothai changed hands so many times its citizens don't know what country they live in.
You haven't seen Athens yet.
Damnit, Japan FINALLY was doing well until Wu went into full annex mode once again.
Japan were smart enough to liberate Mongolia and create a buffer between them and Denmark so they only had to concentrate forces on one side.
The Battle of Sukhotai lasted *so long*! From Turn 250ish, it was disputed until Turn 460ish, and the fall Addis Ababa a few moments later. In terms of time, that's about half the video fighting over 1 city!
Denmark held out on a 3 front war for a loooooong ass time. Impressive, until China got planes.
Gotta give the Japanese credits for their willpower
Amazing how the AI that starts off fast always gets crushed by midgame
it happens disappointingly frequently. Far more often in these videos than I see in my games.
Shows how warmonger penalty is important. Human players always have overwhelming advantage when they warmonger the entire world, but the AIs usually don't. So they get overrun for fighting multiple fronts. Unless, of course, they happen to always have very few neighbors.
Please, do one labyrinth battle, where all corridors have one tile width
Excellent video. Thought Denmark had it for sure, but they really were fighting on all sides
What a comeback from China, I thought Denmark had it for sure.
China will forever haunt my nightmares. That sudden capture of literally everything was one of the most terrifying things I've ever seen.
The way China overcame both Denmark and Rome was astounding!
So mean, putting the Zulus in the dead center so they'd be the first to fall. Almost like you knew they would win if you put them anywhere else.
They tend to be bad at diplomacy they wouldlikely get ganged up on by their neighbors whomever the may be. In my Games The Ottomans, Romans, Huns, and Zulus are always the millitary power. Ive never seen anyone conquer Rome in all my games tho strange they always get swatted in these ai battles.
Rome the powerhouse couldnt stand up this time around sadly as they are my favorite. but i was amazed that china beat the danes and the romans which is just super rare.
such a good try from the Danes. I was rooting for you but alas.
1:16 Turkey stole Stockholm so hard from Japan
They did the same with Karakorum too lol
@@Raisin_Udongein_Inaba And Denmark stole Athens from Japan.
Damn. Was watching Japan and Denmark go back and forth and suddenly Denmark doesn't exist and Japan is fighting China. Where did that come from?
First, when China finished Rome, they finally had some time for peace. They didn't build up for very long, but a few turns of undisturbed repairs and unit building is a lot.
China Blitzkrieged (literally, they used tanks and everything!) Palenque, taking it literally the turn war was declared. Denmark decided to push East, probably figuring that Rome would be the easier target. This was a horrible mistake: Taking Palenque gave them a straight shot to Copenhagen, so while Denmark was able to take Rome (briefly, anyway), they lost their own Capital. After that, failure was probably inevitable.
Ah man I thought Denmark would win for a sec.
4:35 Oh god that was satisfying. NOW THIS IS WHAT I CALL BLITZKREIG
"Oh ****"
- Ulundi, 3000 BC
I guess the collapse of the Ottoman Empire was the only thing historically accurate about this
Japan: Creates buffer states and forgets why 10 turns later.
Japan liberating cities to block the Danes' advance on their territories is just brilliant.
Wow, China played the long game. I thought for sure they'd be too worn down after their millenia long war with Rome to make a comeback.
Rome always is a tease.
I was rooting for Rome, they had a good early game victory
Yeah but they lost dozens of knights against the chinese cho ko nu which is always a game breaker
Did anyone else notice Japan bring Greece back into the game around the 3 minute mark and then immediatley conquered them?
KorporateKotoo Yeah, and they liberated Mongolia as well a bit further into the game
It was to create a buffer state
Damn, China with the last minute cavalry push, that was crazy
the OP Cho-Ko-Nu's strike again
The best position for an AI is one where there are disadvantaged neighbors. For positional disadvantages, the cities of Ulundi, Delhi, Marrakech, Karakorum, Copenhagen, and Warsaw had more than 2 borders not including mountains, once the borders filled out at the beginning.
First, the AI will not turn an early advantage into a long-term strategy. They will find their army too powerful not to use, and will insist on more wars. This inevitably forces them to build more units. When a war is over, the winner will have more units than they started with.
Russia messed up, and Rome get 'em for free. They then kept on doing military. This made it difficult for them to compete, later on, because they hadn't invested in buildings enough, early on.
Denmark built a quick empire. Just like Rome.
The Ottomans take Karakorum from the overextended Swedes with the army they wanted to take Ulundi with. They then contend with the Danish army. Were it not for the Danes, the Ottomans could've turned their early victories into a real early lead that the AI could maintain. They overextend, and the Japanese notice.
The Greeks get themselves into two wars at the beginning of the game. They do not lose, but Japan wins against Attila. Egypt somehow messes up, and the Greeks gain their first and last conquest. Their service to the Japanese is noted.
The Moroccans somehow stay out of sight until Japan decides they'd be a wonderful civ to overextend into. The Ottomans took the rightful Japanese claim of Stockholm, and Japan continues it's pointless conquests. They overextend by also fighting the Greeks, and do not recover their infrastructure. The Ottomans lose to the Danes, at this point.
China does not engage in war until the Japanese had already taken Marrakech. The Hawaiians had not recovered their from the Danes, so this was an opportune strike. The Romans struck Assur, and the Chinese took it. The Romans lost their two-front war, and would not recover for the rest of the game. The Chinese lose some of their advantage fighting the Danes and the Romans, but the Danes were happy to help return the advantage by attacking Rome. Palenque and Sukhothai swap hands, but China does not lose their homeland.
The Japanese take Greece, and begin to preoccupy the Danes. When the Danes are preoccupied, because Rome never recovered, the Chinese can finish the job against the Romans, and declare the final Danish war.
China did not win because of having more cities early on. Rome and Japan lost almost directly because of that, along with most of the other civs that managed to ever take 2 cities before China. Denmark was in the middle. They built their empire into a positional disadvantage. You cannot count on having your enemies at war with you at separate times. This is not because the Danish AI was stupid. It did well to take Ulundi early on. Infact, it is nigh impossible to build an empire on this map without having two fronts, and, as Japan did pull it off, you shouldn't be nearly that reckless, early on, as an AI.
The real answer, for an AI, is to do just like China did. Wait for the time to strike, then pounce. This allows you to spend your production on buildings. With buildings, you have more production for the units needed to conquer. By taking an easy first few wars, you are efficient with your production, and can propel yourself through the mid-game into an efficient powerhouse, fighting a two-front war against larger nations, taking marginal territorial loses. Maintaining a status quo, you then strike when the time is right.
Damn this was interesting to read :)
Hmm, and I think that China won because they massed artillery :) you may even notice on 4:30 how they had 2 flanks with Danes and flank with artilllery won and flank without - lose. Still Danes have only 1-2 of arti and Chinese had 4-5 and so they fought over the cities more efficiently which allowed them to rise from their 3 cities to victory.
I love how China and Rome just keep fucking up that one city through out the entire history.
LMAO😂😂😂😂
But this really is an amazing game. So many civs looking promising until the end. Definitely didn’t expect China to steamroll the world so quickly at the end.
Danish out here liberating Greece and the Mongolians for no reason
Mcknight There is a reason. Denmark was a warmongerer to 100% so they liberated the cities to not get the whole world against them
25th battle for Sukhotai
Even the Romans have their own Luigi Cadorna. Except this time instead of the Isonzo it's Sukhotai.
Damn, Rome had such a good early game
Damn, normally it’s better tech that decides these things, but Denmark and Japan had Infantry, while China never got them.
China did have planes, and a lot of them. I think China just bombed the hell out of the cities and would rush and take them
I cry for Sukhothai :'(
Japan almost had Denmark, but they lost it when they closed off their northwestern front by liberating the Mongols and giving Denmark only one concentrated front.
Overall: AMAZING
Every time I focused on one side i missed the other, I was like damn rome has the lead then they lost it. Damn Denmark has the lead then they lost it, then Japan distracted them enough for China to overwhelm Denmark. I liked Japan's strategy of liberating them and using their lands to cross without Denmark being able to cross then take them over 😂.
Holy crap Rome dropped the ball. Should have pushed to Honolulu but got caught out in the middle.
Create a map separated in 2 sides by mountains so they could reach eachother only by paratroopers, helicopters and airports.
carthage's glory could finally live up to its nonexistent potential
@@maxkenny9503 for real lol
I really have to say, WELL PLAYED CHINA.
this were awesome, really thought denmark would win this. But dont fuck with china lol.
Rome had a really good start, it was a MUST that they win this, but they failed in midgame as always.
Btw, also super nice that Harald Bluetooth snacked out Shaka first, because if Shaka would get his Impis it would be hard for everyone. :D
Nice Ai battle again dude.
God damn the china faction song from C&C Generals at the end hit my feels. RIP C&C
China got revenge for nanking
I was so certain that Rome would win this one, it had a nice start and occupied a nice little pocket. Only having to fight 2 neighbours. But then Danemark started to dominate, which I tought was impossible having to fight a 4 front war. But somehow they seemed to defeat everyone in their path, and then at the last second China does a complete turn around.
Same. I was like Rome stronger thsn china, Denmark is in middle he is going to lose. If rome takes over chine it will be unstopable. Yet when denmark was busy they take down rome and after that there was a no chance to the others.
The closest Japan came to wining one of these.
I know right? Excuse my salt, tho.
And they lose to China of all civs lmao
At first glance zulus have no chance to survive it, let's watch.
Gooooood fucking damnit. Why is the danish ai so damn incompetent?
*sigh*
You know what? This is the best result theyve had so far. Ill settle for that.
And then i hope i will see Rome or Denmark win at least one at some point in the far future
I mean, Denmark fought on 4 fronts against Rome, Japan, and China (starting 3:12) and still managed to push back and make considerable gains, getting airplane superiority
They did damned well considering the circumstances. It's a shame that Japan had the Great Wall which was vital in holding out against the Danish. Were it not for that, I'm confident that the Danish would have conquered the entire bottom-left side of the map
What do you guys think was the reason china won? I initially thought it was bc of artillery but I noticed watching it again that Rome had artillery too. Could be a production issue I guess? The Roman army looked quite small after having fought for sukhotai like 20x
I think it was because of the temporarily peace between China and Denmark. While they fought, China couldnt spare the man power to push into Rome, but when China and Denmark made peace, China could then use all its power to run over Rome and then Denmark. Denmark made the mistake of fighting too many wars at the same time, which is why China could take them out with relative ease after taking Rome.
Extra citadels seemed to help a lot.
Their power pike with their distance unit of the middle age who can attack twice per turn is pretty OP, especially on this map too. Thanks to it they weren't conquered and then they just took the advantage with science and probably money/ happiness too, compared to warmongers who are always broke and sad
I didn't expect that at all
Aaaand I'm still waiting for you to win, Siam
With no city-states?
With ELEPHANTS
The AI knows the art of war. Denmark just became the new Tibet.
Who else noticed Greece came back very shortly out of nowehere
That's because somehow the Japanese AI got enough compassion to actually do what's called Liberation
If you capture a city that was originally owned by a different civ than the one you're fighting, you can liberate it to gain political brownie points with that civ
In the beginning I was like, China and Japan could do really well here.
China's UU plus being first to Artillery won them the game I think.
That double attack is devastating if you have a strong "melee" unit and even more brutal once they get upgraded to machineguns
I think what really lead them to victory though was the massive airforce they built. On such a tiny map they could bomb the hell out of one city in a single turn from across the map and run in with some Lancers to capture the city
China vs Japan grudge match
In most of the scenarios I watched China has always been the lower powers, early losers more accurately, but now I knew that if China has her chance, she can end the game pretty quick.
China used to be the most broken civ until they were nerfed
China chasing that Great Wall
Ok that music was just hauntingly beautiful.
First track was from Witcher 3: Blood and Wine
that last outro song...
OH THE FEELINGS
AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAH
Props to Japan. Also, jeez, the war of Athens and Thebes. How many times did they trade hands?
I hate top comments how say who the winner is…
Btw
Nice job Sweden 🤫
This is the best civ ai battle Chanel
...all the rest do a real poor job compared to this masterpieces.
Бляяя, как же я тащусь от этих видосов...
What happened with Japan? They suddenly decided that instead of keeping two front line cities that were important to them and could maybe churn out an extra unit or two, they then decided instead to liberate them? Goodness they were just begging to be wiped out towards the end there
Japan was doing well, the problem was that its cities were much less productive than Denmark's
denmark had too many frontlines... always wars
Looks like the AI does not understand that there are mountains. And buys the place
4:05 Karakorum outta nowhere!
Wow, what a game! Unexpected and great fun to watch :)
0:50, Turn 120 - Rome - 5 cities, China - 1.....
Lol Japan liberated Greece only to take over after lol!
I think Denmark liberated them and Japan declared war instantly
I have done that to Alexander as Pocatello.
i loved the spoiler in the discription
Shaka had the worst spot to be
And poland died faster anyway
@@szczesliwekomunikacjeladow383 no he did
aye hes he did my bad poland died 10 seconds after sorry :D
Damn that chinese steamroll
just love to see , you hate us but helpless😂😂😂
Knew this map was going to come down to who could get artillery first
Chinese weren't the first to get it, though
wow i thought Rome was gonna win as he was doing so very well in the beginning and even holding off danes and china but nope in the end died. what a shame. Rome is my favorite and normally very agressive but weird that greece didnt have a a chance
Quality wins quantity
Rome had the better tech adv, it had cannon before anyone else, but seems like Rome AI is always BAD. It never build an army.
If only they can steamroll china before their tech. It really could change the game
why did japan just give up after their rival died. they didnt bother producing any units even after the final opponent declared war on them? were they building wonders and refused to stop production? They had a major tech advantage too which is sad :(
Thats Freedom AI doing for you.
I thought Rome was winning
Yes. But sadly...
AI don't know what happened either
Thats a cool looking great wall
0:47 seeing it go up and the fact they don't go down until China comes to take their Great Wall as rightfully their's at the very end is credit to the defensive power of the Great Wall of the Huns
Denmark would've beat japan if they didnt have that bonus where they still do normal damage when hurt, those japanese tanks destroyed them. Still proud of denmark warring on all sides and holding though
the Bushido Law rule !
Hah, C&C Generals OST in the end.
CHINA NAMBA WANN
Once the Battle for Sukhothai was finally over it ended pretty quickly.
"China number one!" At least this time xD
Go, so that the AI was closed the box out of the mountains, and could only get out by helicopters.
final battle japan vs china lol
How long does it take to setup a match like this?
Not long, I've done a few ai battles for fun and all you need to do is make it so civs dont die until all units are dead and hide in a corner with auto end turn. You need to delete the popups files though so your game doesn't get paused from the stupid "pointiest stick civ" popups.
Best game so far.
I was thinking Denmark will win this.
Then they fought a two-front (or three?) then i say nah you're dead mate.
They almost made it work, but they just couldn't knock out Japan
THIS IS NAME JOHN CHINA!
Oh my gahd
Netherlands was taking too long to subjugate rome
Netherlands wasn't even present in this battle
What an awesome game! Great map
Edit to remove winner spoiler on first row of comment
China Number One!
One China policy
in this case, china only policy ;)
You thought I wouldn't recognize that Command and Conquer music at the end?
Très original !à refaire ;)
PLEASE terrain looks like MOBA!
У нации в центре не было шансов, а у тех, кто их уничтожил мозгов.
I din't understand the end for real... WTF CHINA ? Where did oyu come from xd
How does aibattle get these maps? Does he just create it himself?
create or download
Creating maps is very easy.
