Honestly I miss weird mobile phone games like this. They were atrocious but had a weird kind of charm to them in how odd they were. Also they act as a perfect snap shot of a different time, these games really only could have come out in a certain era.

I’ll be honest, I actually have a bit of a fascination with old IOS and Android games. Especially games like this that are made by big publishers. It’s rather unfortunate that it is next to impossible to get these games on iOS devices unless you have an old jail broken iPhone and have the appropriate files.
For that reason it seems like there isn’t too much of a preservation effort to keep these games accessible. (And to be fair, they’re certainly not the best games out there and it requires a lot of effort just to be able to get them playable)

I have Bioshock purchased on my account, I could redownload it even long after it was delisted, but not play it.
Every model of iPhone and iPad that could run it could be updated to IOS 7, which can't run it. So you need one that's never been updated. Good luck finding one nowadays
But the brief time I could play it, it was a really good version, believe it or not. It was a proper, full port, though it had a quirk where jumping was automatically done when you reached something you needed to jump over, and couldn't manually.
Not a lot of people seem to have it, considering it was $15, and dropped to $11 on sale. Then it vanished. That's pricey for a phone game, and annoying to me because I couldnt even access it for more than a year.

The only way to install old games now is by downloading them from the "Purchased" section in an Apple ID that already owns the game.
That being said, finding a specific device to run the game AS WELL AS a person who's willing to lend their Apple ID that owns the game is notoriously hard.
I should know, I've spent the past few years rebuilding a community for Gun Bros and researching old Mobile gaming and my god, the preservation is almost non-existent and it's an absolute pain to find and get old mobile games up and running again...

I've played this version before using my friend's old iPhone smartphone, this is honestly a nice game for it's time. This brings back old memories of me playing early iterations of console games that has mobile port versions haha. There was also a Java version of Dead Rising if I'm not mistaken they released it along side this cause not a lot of people switched to smartphones yet, they still had java OS phones like Nokia, Motorola etc. It would be nice if you covered it as well, this is a great video you made about this DR port. I remember this one, it was part of the industry's early mindset about mobile gaming of just "port games to iPhone as close to its original counterpart and maybe make money", as opposed to the now modern mobile gaming (?) mindset of "port a gacha slot machine filled with microtransactions and paint it with a thin layer of coating vaguely representing the game you want to port, and actually make money".
I even remember them making a Devil May Cry 4 port that has combat that surprisingly feels like the original game, however with horrible extremely simplified maps shaped like cubes.
ah, those were fun days. especially when they finally mastered it and released the full Monster Hunter Freedom Unite game on the iPhone, with actual intuitive controls and online play.

My first experience with the franchise was with Dead Rising 2, played the hell out of it 10 years ago. I remember watching youtube content about DR1 and literally loved the game, the psycos and the story, and reaaaally wanted to play it (even considered getting an Xbox360 and a copy of DR1) until I found a Wii emulator for PC, so I played DR Chop till you drop, and I really enjoyed it... I was finally playing (sort of) the game I wanted. Today I have the steam version of the DR1 and it's the real experience. Aside from the janky controls, and it being a little light in content; the game itself seems like it'd be pretty fun. I assume that a lot of the graphical issues had less to do with the lack of phone horsepower but instead the app store size limit and phone storage being very slight at the time. For a 2010 mobile game, this is kinda neat! If something similar was released in this era, with slightly shinier graphics but the same core gameplay loop with maybe a few things added- character customization, maybe async multiplayer where if you die you appear in other people's games, maybe have cosmetics be unlockable- I could see it being a decent success. Maybe instead of ending the game after killing all of the Mad Zombies they'd be minor boss battles and they'd procedurally appear for an "endless" style of game.
Thanks for uploading this! 2010-era phone games were WILD and I appreciate you sharing this with us!

      @alex khan
What you're propably thinking of is installing IPA files. Unfortunately, most old games have an expired "certificate" and will not launch when installed this way.
Instead, get an Apple ID that previously owned the game and check the "Purchased" section in the App Store.
But, another thing to note is that most old games are optimized for 32 bit Processors.
iOS 10 being the update that killed of 32 bit support, will propably not play any older games.
So I'd suggest a device between iOS 6 and iOS 9 for old games.

Gotta give it credit, having so many zombies on Screen for a mobile game is impressive, since other Zombie games at the time and even now, don't put as many on screen, or resort to the Call of Duty Zombies formula, and make them Round Based or a selected number at a time, with remaining zombies spawning in. Here though, they're all over, and actually Flood the underground area. Pretty cool stuff. It reminds me of when we got the World War Z mobile game back when the movie released. Sure you couldn't fight zombies on the move, instead being like Pokemon, where you walk around and randomly you trigger a Zombie fight sequence with like 10 or 20 of them coming at you, then there was the Helicopter section of the game where you shot at the swarms on the street, with actual Zombie towers building up to get it the survivors.

When you said the thing with the car and the tunnel, i remembered that ir happened in Chop till you drop as well, but in a less restricted way, you still have the tunnels near complete and even tho you can't exit the car, it feels more fun to play instead of the point a to point b feeling in the iPhone version

old mobile games (especially from the 00's-10's era) are honestly almost always kind of fascinating to me and I wish/hope more efforts to preserve them are made even just as curiosities. There's an old Transformers G1 RPG that's structured kind of like an episodic Fire Emblem of sorts that i'm hoping was saved somewhere.
Especially for things like this, even if this is bad it's fascinating to see that it exists. And it's fun looking at the differences between the real games and these chopped down mobile "imitators" or whatever you'd call them. I'm reminded of Street Fighter 4 also getting a 3DS port of all things.
On the matter of the actual video, assuming this is the latest version I wouldn't be shocked if someof those closed-off areas might've been planned for updates but they never got enough dev time to do it (assuming this wasn't just pumped and dumped onto the app store)

Side note, the Wii version really stressed me out because of the dogs and birds.
