I’ve always wondered if this EAGLE 5 can be used as a classical home PC if needed (with a screen, a keyboard and a mouse when not in use on the M-zero because of the weather)
Quite honestly, I would not do the update. There is so much specific software on it, you can really mess this up and then you have to send the Eagle to Italy that they get it working again....
great video as usual! I'm Italian...and I'm a newbie that's propably why I have troubles to understand why this device costs that much. The Asiair or mini PC are much cheaper. Could you help me to understand the differences? Grazie
When it comes to the ASIAir it is like with game consoles. ZWO has a huge interest that people buy the ASIAir as they are then locked into their ecosystem. So I'm almost sure ZWO sells the ASIAir at cost. When it comes to mini-pcs, we first of all have to understand that for example a Mele Quieter is a good mini-pc, but it was never made for the use outside. And - it is "only" a mini pc. The Eagle is constructed for very tough conditions, using industrial grade components. It contains a full desktop class PC, a power distribution box like the Pegasus Astro Devices, a wifi access point, a sky monitor and more..... So it goes way beyond a mini-pc, and it is all fully integrated and top quality.
I've used Raspberry PI, miniPC, pegasus powerbox ultimate, and wanderer astro powerbox. The wanderer astro is half the price of the pegasus, and provides me more than enough usb and power ports. And besides, it's RED :D. I don't know why your plate-solving was so slow on NINA; are you using ASTAP? Once the index files are downloaded, it's pretty snappy.
Wow, it is really RED!!!!! ;-) Fun beside, I love all the valuable finds simply be mentioning stuff briefly. I never heard of Wanderer but now that I look on it, while the Eagle is still a different league, but compared to the Pegasus Astro Stuff I perceive it as the superior choice.... Thanks for sharing!
I can’t wait for this to come out, so I can finally dumped the ZWO ecosystem for something much nicer and finally have a camera rotator! Thanks for the review
Great unboxing, but re the screw on plugs, I get that they will not come loose on the unit, but the other ends are still push in type, for connections to accessories, which can still wiggle loose and lose power…🤔 so not really that much benefit to them… But it certainly looks a pretty piece of kit for sure….but wayyyyyyy to pricey for me…
Very true. But on one side PrimaLuce can not influence the ports of other devices, and in my experience it was mostly the Pegasus Astro Powerbox I had issues with when it came to wiggly contacts.
Thanks for making this video. I am in the market for an Eagle 5 and am trying to make the right decision on which model (S vs Pro) in order to future proof without spending more than I have to. In your upcoming video on the Eagle, it would be super helpful if you provide your thoughts on which model you chose and why. What factors would go into needing a Pro vs an S for example. I hope to shoot entirely remotely at some point but would likely have a fairly basic setup and not get too carried away with software. Thanks!
If you only want to let stuff like NINA or similar run on it, the S is good enough. That said, when you already spend so much money to pay 500 bucks more for a real i5 processor, double RAM and double storage capacity sounds tempting and makes it really, really future proof....
@@viewintospace Thank you, Sascha -- very good point. I do plan on going into planetary too and the extra speed might not hurt I am guessing. Looking forward to the next video.
Great video. Thanks for the details and information.

Yes, absolutely! I have it presently connected like that to install all the software and it behaves exactly like any other PC!
That ingenious idea just made the device easier to afford, brilliant.
Yep. In fact I have pixinsight installed on mine for live-stacking in Nina.
Awesome technology. I use the Eagle4 Pro and love the technology. Thank you for the review.
I love the Eagle technology. My older Eagle4 Pro uses the Windows 10 OS. Can you explain how I could upgrade my Eagle to Windows 11

may be a video with the complete setup mount+eagle5+camera+scope+focuser+power station+cable management...could also help newbies?
Will be shown in the full review - already in production!

You can already now order it on the PrimaLuce website!
