Railroad Crossings of the BNSF Aurora Sub

- The BNSF Aurora Sub runs from Aurora, IL to La Crosse, WI, and is mostly single track. This is part of BNSF's Northern Transcon and is ex CB&Q. Like most BNSF lines, this line is littered with GS Type 2s, but there are the occasional M bells and Safetran Type 3s, especially in Rochelle. There is also one remaining gateless crossing between Rochelle and Aurora.

9th St #1 is my favorite due to it having pedestrian gates and Safetran Type 3s.

there sure are a lot of intermodal trains that Burlington Northern Santa Fe (BNSF) run through the state of Illinois all the way up to the state of Wisconsin.

31:27 great K3LA horn on the BNSF C44-9W and 2 CSX locomotives was on the BNSF tanker train!
I like the last one alot, a shame the got rid of the old bells on alot of these crossings.
This is really cool I’ve been working on 2 Line (UP clinton sub and bnsf Barstow sub) of getting a train on every public crossing on the entire sub the Barstow should be complete by August and the clinton sub is a different story but great video

How often does BNSF run trains on this sub on weekdays? Also, do you know of any crossings that have M bells on this sub?

what about Lee, IL? According to google maps, they have gateless crossings along with Steward Main road. Idk if this is accurate, but has BNSF updated Lee, IL?

You're info is not quite accurate, the track along the river is mostly double track with only two sections of single track. One in Prairie Du Chien crossing the Wisconsin river an the other in La Crosse near Grand Crossing. Other than that it is double track all the way from Savannah, IL to a Crosse, WI I do not however know the area east of Savannah, IL
