Upcoming videos: Spider-Man Miles Morales review, Demon’s Souls remake review, and a video essay titled: A Tale of Two Buns. The essay is about a ridiculous controversy in gaming, you’ll see.
Does it have to do with a certain hairstyle?
It makes you wonder what the creative minds behind this could do with a bigger budget and more resources
If past examples are any indication... then there's a good chance they botch those games and become another Blizzard, Bioware, Bethesda, etc.... one hopes not, but I don't put trust in any company any more.
Can't wait for the weaponised womb in photorealistic 4k
You said the word 'moist'. I'm happy now.
But where are the predatory micro transactions, hamster-wheel grinding delays and DLC?
Heard about you from The Quartering started to read your articles and I like what your putting out there !
You're starting to become my favorite commentator/reviewer. I don't always see myself playing the games you give a good review to, but I love reviews that are all about the game.
Just wanna say I discovered you through The Quartering. His video on you was a great advertisement. I then checked out your Twitter. It's refreshing to read your stuff. Down to earth and just real. Keep doing you. Don't bend. You rock. Subscribed.
Sweet looking game, makes me wonder what an Isometric Warhammer 40k game would look like!
Stop.
I can only get so erect.
But I think you might be thinking of Inquisitor: Martyr.
It's a Diablo like thing. I just got a new laptop that will actually run modern games on high graphics settings so AS SOON as that sucker goes on sale I'm nabbing it.
Gotta wait for sales. Buying this darn laptop nearly made me homeless.
But...WORTH IT.
UA-cam actually gave me a warning and made me click a box saying 'I'm sure' before they let me post that comment.
The word 'erect' is scary.
The N word, the F word, the B word and talk of killing police officers?
Perfectly fine.
Just don't use the word erect ever.
😑
Stupid UA-cam censorship.
I'll probably get banned again.
Totally agree with you, great atmosphere and challenge all in a pretty pixel package
>Suck on THAT, Capitalism!

You're a treasure, Soph.
Glad someone caught that.
As some-one who likes the horror genre for it's weird creature design, this looks infinitely appealing.
morbid: "the dark souls of 2d dark souls games"
2020 must really suck if kroenenberg and lovecraft look like fun in comparison
Your review for Cyberpunk was outstanding. It's rare to find writers these days who elevate the craft to an art form.
I don't ever want to hear you say moist again
Moist
@@Sophnar0747 Moist on their own petard, I’d say.
I love hearing a woman say moist. It's weird that ppl get bothered by the word moist and it seems to be one of those social things where a few ppl say it's something and within a small amount of time lots of ppl are claiming the same thing. It's some kind of vehicle or something... 😅
@@endless3cho ...they're getting the moist out of it.
Great review, adding this one to my list.
Never heard for this,so thanks! Merge are publishing some great games, hope it have physical release.
I think I'm going to be sick, just a bit. Good work, devs!
Sorry for that! And thanks! 🤟
Should've called this review "Weaponized Womb"
Good stuff.
To bring out the full genre discussion: the aspect of losing (or potentially losing) something on death is just one of the many parts defining the Souls games.
If a game catches enough of those parts, it's still fair to call it a Soulslike even if some aspect is missing.
I'd argue that combat (or the managing of health/stamina as you put it) is the core defining part of that genre and not what happens on death. E.g. take Dark Souls, replace the combat with Tetris - and it's no longer a Soulslike, even if you lose something when you lose the Tetris.
I’d also say that the world building aspect of souls games is important to the overall experience. And the way the story is told through the environment and the items you pick up.
I think I grabbed this on a recent sale. If I haven't, I'll get it and I already shot this video to my friend who is into Souls games and binding of isaac.
Making a comment, for the engagement
Liking the comment, and then commenting on comment for engagement.
This sounds like it’s narrated by a mannequin at a goodwill
Cool art design. Looking forward to getting this game in the future.
Seeing the isometric camera here reminded me of Hades, would be cool to hear what you think of it considering that it officially released in September and is a candidate in the upcoming game awards.
Never heard of this game, but it looks amazing, another game for my steam wishlist :D
I don't think I EVER would've heard about this game if it weren't for you. definitely gonna grab this.
Being the media sponge that I am, I have to make it a point that a channel gets three Likes out of me before I'll subscribe, lest my Subscriptions section grow out of control. Your channel is a too-well-hidden gem and you are the genuine article. I watched you tackle the concepts of manufactured outrage, and Netflix's 'Minor' problem (nice word play, that), and now some macabre levity with Morbid. I was all too pleased to subscribe! Keep on doing what you're doing, Sophia!
Excellent review as usual. Well, thought out and worded. I'll definitely take a look at this game.
I've just recently seen this in the xbox store and i'm very big into retro style games. I haven't heard much about it so before i buy it i had to get on youtube and do some researching for reviews. After watching this video which was the 1st video recommend i decided to buy it and i enjoyed my 1st gameplay. The only feature i wish this game had like so many others would have is custom controls / button mapping setting. Otherwise this was one of the best games i bought along with dead cells, slain: back from hell and shaolin vs wutang. Great review thumbs up!
This looked interesting and it’s refreshing to see someone doing actual game reviews instead of bitching about race or genders. I rate this video a 8/10
Best review I’ve heard for this game picked it up a few days ago for switch and I’m definitely enjoying this bloody excellent game.
Just a note: the game recently received a big update that includes a more forgiving stamina meter and New Game Plus.
It's also on sale for half price on Steam right now, so anyone interested, now is the time.
It's like 12 bucks. SO worth it.
Pretty sure it's only on sale for like, the weekend of 5/21/21, so get on that, people.
EDIT: there's also a Stash at every Shrine now. Seems like they heard your complaint.
It's close to being a perfect game for a Lovecraft/Poe/Dark Souls/Demon Souls/Bloodborne/Salt & Sanctuary freak like me.
If you enjoy any two of those things, you really can't go wrong for 12 bucks.
From what I can tell, all the complaints from the reviews 5 months ago have been addressed with this Update.
I'd sure like to see some folks do revised updates so the game sells more copies.
It really is a love letter to all things Lovecraft/Poe meets Dark Souls.
Thank you for reviewing something *new* I did not have on my radar whatsoever! Souls-likes are not really my cuppa brown, but with having seven reviews of the same games (I'm not the least bit interested in - Godfall, and then this Fenyx game) land in my inbox, and *nothing* else, I really appreciate your going for something actually interesting.
Seriously, I quit mainstream media for games news because it just stopped providing value to me, and went to youtube because those creators covered things I was fundamentally interested in. And not even two years later, they are becoming - with some exceptions - basically just as useless as the MSM.
a Game You actually Like that is DOPE
Linus just reviewed a scent accessory for gaming. Now just have to source blood scented essential oil
Engagement comment for the algorithm god.
I played the demo some time ago. Seemed pretty solid. Art felt very akin to Blasphemous, which is amazing as well.
I'm trying to save money, but this game is making it difficult... Cheers from Brazil! Great review.
Looks like an interesting game.
Sophia, I'd love to see your take on Blasphemous, another pixelart soulslike/metroidvania. It's absolutely beautiful and grotesque.
Check my channel. It’s there
@@Sophnar0747 oh, derp. thanks Sophia.
👍
Hey, Narwittz. What do you think of the game called "Akane"?
Souls throne ? More like a stool.
so I was right, it was morbid, sad that you cant see your armor
Well that's interestin'. Don't reckon I'll buy it though. Seems like a pretty good game too.
Wait your not supposed to actually like games
I don't think a bloodstain mechanic is what makes a Soulslike, so long as it tries to do an enhanced punishment system other than loss of progress should already classify it as one tbh.
No word on character creation, if any? No? Ok.
There’s no character creator. Everyone plays as the exact same chick
The game's artstyle is literally isometric pixel art, there is no point in having character "creation" here.
guess its time to dust off that old "**gga did i just caught you having fun?" meme
What’s it on?
for some reason any game with even the slightest gorey shit reminds me of doom
>millions of budget
>wahh, making game is difficult
>hueg teams, diversity officers, shiny buildings, katering
>bribe opinion heads
6 fucking guys and this game
As much as i like it, when you rip a crap game to pieces. I like reviews like this even more. Can't wait for Demon's Souls.
It's not Lovecraftian.
Lovecraftian doesn't equate to C'thulhu. Saya no Uta, a visual novel, is Lovecraftian.
@@Alberich_Prince_of_Dwarves oh sweet baby Cthuga cartoons aren't Lovecraftian either. Here's an idea..... Using literary definitions explain the themes of Lovecraftian literature to me? Kthx bye
This is a fair question. "Lovecraftian" is becoming an increasingly-broad term, covering things that old Howie wouldn't consider inspired by his work. Like my cooking.
@@georgeheingartner6995 my cookings a more traditional Dante......lots of burnt things and a bad smell.
Stephen Kings Danse Macabre takes a good stab at it so does st Joshi in interviews. "Beyond the ken or the knowing" tends to be the key point. It's dark and has tentacles in a non sexual manner is not "Lovecraftian" :). When you consider Poe and Lovecraft are the progenitors of the genre blasting anything with that moves with the label is rather insulting. I mean Sophie appears to have enjoyed but it looks alot more Dante than Dexter Ward
@@lewisbenzie845 Agreed. The "cosmic awfulness of the awful cosmos" is a key component, no matter how you slice it; as is the Truth being so very bad that even a glancing understanding is the epistemological equivalent of drinking gasoline. Add to that the ultimate irrelevance of humanity itself. Cthulhu doesn't notice us enough to hate us.
The game doesn’t seem that interesting and I’m too squeamish for its bloodiness and love for internal organs
