Rise of the Dragon Book Overview! (House of the Dragon)

Hello Everyone and thank you for coming back to my channel! In this video, I take a look at the Rise of the Dragon book by George R. R. Martin. I am a huge Game of Thrones fan and coming off the heels of an amazing final episode of season 1 of House of the Dragon, I was starving for more. I was actually watching an interview on UA-cam with George discussing the season, and saw him talking about the book. I hadn't even known about it!
I then quickly went to amazon, ordered the book, unboxed it and filmed this video right away. I also feature the World of Ice and Fire book in the video to compare to the new Rise of the Dragon book as they make a good pair in the collection.
The overview in the video is brief as I just want you all to get enough of a look to help you decide if you would like to get the book for yourself. As always, I share my enthusiasm for all things fantasy.
I am excited to get into this one further but will not read beyond the point we are in in the show as I have not read Fire and Blood, so some plot points I hope to keep as a surprise.

There is supposed to be a second half of Fire and blood beginning with the reign of Aegon the third and ending with Roberts rebellion. GRRM said that one won’t be out till WOW is finished which means it probably won’t ever come out!!
Definitely looking forward to that though I too would have my fears on when it happens ugh
Come on. WoW seems to be coming out, in a 2-3 year time, since GRRM said it's 3/4 finished.

As much as I appreciate these volumes because they add to the overall lore of the world he's created, these won't mean anything if the man fails to finish the series. So I'd rather he put all these aside and finished Winds and Dream first

“Rise Of The Dragon” is cool but “A World Of Ice & Fire” has a more complete overview of that world’s history. Including The Dance Of The Dragons. Great video!

i'm curious, how much of Rise of the Dragon material is covered in the World of Ice and Fire book? WOIAF has quite a bit of info on the Targaryens, too, right?
Great question David! So, WOIAF has about 60-80 pages related to directly to the Targaryens as opposed to the full book dedicated to them in Rise of the Dragon. Hope that helps!
I just want to know that the amount of text written in The Fire & Blood book is the same line to line, in this illustrated version or is it cut short ?
It’s less. It’s not the same text line for line. There is less text in Rise of the dragon than Fire and Blood
I'm not buying anything else until wow comes out.

If content is shortened than I will buy fire and blood.
Yes, there is less writing and more / new pictures. Fire and Blood will have a more comprehensive history. So if you are only getting one, then go for that one.

Strange the two swords in the book look nothing like the ones in the show.
A lot of the GoT ones look different as well. The online weapon replica stores typically do both versions.

Rise of the Dragon is similar in style to a World of Ice and Fire. Fire and Blood is more detailed that Rise of the Dragon for the Lore

It has a different format, it’s not exactly the same afaik it’s a bit more summarized.
I’d recommend reading fire and blood & getting rise if you’re a super fan who wants the artwork
Yes like Hasan said, it’s toned down on the text but increased new pictures / visuals. So it depends on what you are going for.
