- A.J. Wentworth, B.A. is a British sitcom that aired on ITV in 1982. Set in the 1940s, the programme was shown posthumously following the death of its lead actor Arthur Lowe, who died on 15 April 1982. Based on the writings of H. F. Ellis, A.J. Wentworth, B.A. was written by Basil Boothroyd. It was made for the ITV network by Thames Television.
Great to see something new with Arthur lowe have not see this before looking forward to watching it thank you
Another success 4 A.L. 👌 However, having just read that he died while filming this.....alot of the pleasure is replaced with sadness.
Never seen this before until I researched Lowe on UT, looked to me that Lowe’s Wentworth character had lost his authority as a teacher, as the children were in charge of that class room.

Great cast
Arthur Lowe was 66 here..he looks 86..alcohol..same with Le mesurier.
Actually he also suffered from somnambulism ,which led to the slurring ,even so a wonderful actor.
Arthur lowe was very talented but this is as dry as dust.
Meant to be a comedy according to Wikipedia.
