PETER HOOK IN CONVERSATION WITH DAVE SIMPSON (THE GUARDIAN) ONLINE BROADCAST EVENT IN SUPPORT OF EPILEPSY SOCIETY Closer Anniversary Access Live Stream: bit.ly/39vH7yp Special Thanks: Peter Hook, Dave Simpson and The Guardian. #RedHotChiliPeppers #JoyDivision
I was just listening to new dawn fades in my car on my way home just less than an hour ago. Ian Curtis will never be forgotten unknown pleasures will continue to inspire.
@Tony What is a joke band? Do you mean like hey can u guys get up and play a song even though youre not a band? like as a goof? Because both of these bands have huge followings and even if they started as a joke band..they obviously quickly evolved into great bands.
This is awesome. It was also cool to hear in an interview with John that he and Flea were also way into early Cure (Seventeen Seconds and Faith specifically).
@@mr.smithgnrsmith7808 Well, you have to keep in mind Billy Corgan is insane. He may have hallucinated that but I think we can safely say that Robert Smith never ACTUALLY shape shifted into a demon, right?
RHCP get a lot of hate but “I could have lied” off of blood sugar sex magic is one of the most underrated songs of all time. As a massive Cure fan that song had a huge impact on me and I’ve had a soft spot for the band ever since.
@@HerveBoisde Yeah man... The Cure is my favorite band but Frusciante is my favorite guitar player so it was pretty cool to hear he was influenced by Robert Smith. I Could Have Lied is a great song. Did you know that was written about Sinead O'Connor?
Wow so it was more like John Frusciante re-taught them. He must have loved it being a huge fan and covering it in many of his solo gigs around the time he was all wigged out.
Legiao urbana nao passa de um ramones sem distorçao, um the cure sem riffs nem solos... legiao urbana nao passa de um echo and the bunnymen com voz de sono!
@@darkathmanson john flea and josh also had a one off show under the name of Still in which they performed joy division songs including new dawn fades. In the year 2000 if i recall correctly
He saying they forgot how to play many years later and they wanted them to play the song with them. So, they had to teach them how to play the song again.
RHCP are one of those bands that you listened to back in the day, but never bothered to buy their CD. They were part of the scene, but weren't that important. As they got older, they got more boring and annoying.

I prefer "Closer"
As a youth I was listening to Unkown Pleasures and the Uplift Mofo Party plan in 1988.
Man. Joy Division and RHCP in the same room. Awesome.
Well new order
@@ivansime9127 true.
Man,
That's a lot of dead bodies in one room.

Moby too
Omg i didn't even know this video exist, and it's one of my fav Joy Division song
This is awesome. It was also cool to hear in an interview with John that he and Flea were also way into early Cure (Seventeen Seconds and Faith specifically).
Robert Smith is a demon...Billy Corgan said he saw him literally shapeshift in front of him....

@@MonkyMonk729 really?
I found a 30+ year old tape of my band. I couldn’t remember how to play most of the songs either lol!
That's why ear traning is important!
@Æ N I Ǝ M A Don't really like the album, but I have learned Dani California by ear and the solo with fuzz and wah is the best!
Wow so it was more like John Frusciante re-taught them. He must have loved it being a huge fan and covering it in many of his solo gigs around the time he was all wigged out.
What makes you think it was John Frusciante and not Flea? They both love joy division
@@georgehornsby6882 Like I said in my comment. John frequently covered them in shows. I've never seen Flea cover them.
@@Muskieangler he did it with john and josh in a tribute show.
joy division is still alive, even though ian is no longer with us :) i think he’d like that, maybe.
Peter Hook is like Bach for me. I would love to talk to him for 5min.
Moby + New Order + RHCP = Dang!

RHCP teaches new order how to play new dawn fades*
Joy division, and later new order influenced renato Russo and the urban legion here in Brazil.
Who do he’ll is that?
@@mutantoyster6425 www.tenhomaisdiscosqueamigos.com/2020/07/18/joy-division-40-anos-closer-influencias/
Legião Urbana were great and Renato Russo a brilliant songwriter. Such a tragedy when he died.
Legiao urbana nao passa de um ramones sem distorçao, um the cure sem riffs nem solos... legiao urbana nao passa de um echo and the bunnymen com voz de sono!
❤✌😊🎸👍 top!
Joy division, e posteriormente new order influenciaram renato russo e a legião urbana aqui no brasil.
Com certeza(até a dança de Renato russo é uma mistura de morrissey e ian curtis)
Gone to all the trouble, but no mikes!
Kind of makes you wonder alright.
❤
Peppers chilli teach red hot Joy Division.
Who is talking Flea and John or does he mean the whole band?
He said it was 14 years after the joy division broke up. It might’ve been the OHM era so it would’ve been flea and Dave probably.
Yes! 2001!! ❤
Maybe flea and John because John covered it solo in ome of his concerts around the same time
Jesus Melero yea maybe

It's hardly the most difficult is it?
That's like Air Supply teaching Paul McCartney how to play "Hey Jude."
Aww, you don't understand music. That's a bummer, man.
More like Badfinger teaching Paul McCartney how to play Hey Jude
Alzheimer’s divisiom
It's not exactly difficult to play is it?!
so sick of those damn chairs.

Red Hot C.P.s did not exist in Joy Division era but guess they didn't want to say New Order because who cares?
I just farted
How the hell could RHCP “teach Joy Division” anything? They didn’t form until 1983, Joy Division didn’t exist after 1980.....
He saying they forgot how to play many years later and they wanted them to play the song with them. So, they had to teach them how to play the song again.
@@trentanderson783 So, they taught New Order how to play a classic Joy Division song?
*facepalm*

Obviously they mean "RHCP teach former members of Joy Division..."
RHCP are an awful band! i cant believe Hooky liked them...

Yeah, right.
Thx 4 dat.

Moby “fixed” new dawn fades, joy division’s version sounds like sloppy amateur demo dogshit
This must be a joke. Chili peppers sound like shit live
