No. NLUs are no way that expensive. 40 lakhs? Seriously? The costliest NLU (which is NLSIU bangalore) has a fee structure of 2.7 lakhs per annum. If you consider it for 5 years(BALLB), fees doesn't even cross 15 lakh. Most NLU have an average fees of 2.3 to 2.5 lakhs per annum. I don't know where you got that 18 to 40 lakh number. (Note: this is inclusive of Hostel and other fees)
@Shrey Manchanda if I get an opportunity in studying in top nlu, will the job opportunity still be less. I want to study law as a plan b as my main target is to become an ias officer. I will give clat next year.

No you can give clat only after doing your 12th. You will be eligible for giving clat only if you get more than 50% if you are in general category and if you are SC,ST then you should get minimum of 45% for giving clat.
No, after 12th you can go for CLAT or after graduation in Law . Yes, it is right that age restriction has been removed by the Supreme Court. But persuing CLAT too much late is not good, above two conditions are reasonable for the exam.
